I guess I was unlucky with my menu choice. Starter salad was good but the main course was forgettable. However, the food of my companions and the children really tasted very good. Service was excellent and waiting times were at the upper limit. Nice restaurant.

Went to the old hostel as a group. The restaurant is a bit inflexible...had to choose a menu in advance for 11-12 people. Food was good. Service could have been friendlier. At first we didn't feel very welcome at the table. Unfortunately it was also a bit cool in the restaurant due to the draft. They said the place was old...finally a door was closed, which made the temperature in the place comfortable. At the end, the menu of the person who couldn't be there was simply added to the bill. When asked, they said it was on the homepage, which wasn't the case. In the end, the boss waived the amount for us. Overall we were a bit disappointed...we had actually only heard good things.

Once again we were thrilled with the quality of what was on offer. Despite the full house, the food (especially the salads and their sauce), the attention and friendliness of the staff were outstanding. The coziness and charm of this country inn are not often found these days. What we also really liked, of course, is the fact that dogs are welcome. Otherwise we would probably never have gotten to know this place.

Rinderlei, 02/25/23 was an absolute dream! You could try everything from happy beef. Prepared to a high standard. With a lot of love and imagination. Plus excellent wine. Adequate portions to try and still fill up. The selection was large, there was something for every taste. Excellent! And you are all so super friendly. We would like to thank you very much for a successful evening. I would like to say a special thank you to the boss himself, who fulfilled my wish and simply gave me two glasses of his incredibly fine spread creation. Thanks Rolf. It's always nice with you.

Home-style, fine cuisine, great value for money. Varied menu selection with fresh ingredients. The daily menus are pleasantly different from the "one size fits all" that is unfortunately offered in most restaurants. The boss and his team enjoy their work, which can be seen in many details. Today I was with someone for lunch at the Alte Herberge. And it was absolutely wonderful. The dishes (beef tartare as a starter and pike-perch fillets with salad and vegetables as a main course) were excellent. The price-performance ratio was right. And what should be particularly highlighted: the service, which was really friendly and in a good mood. All in all: a great lunch and afternoon. Thank you to your entire team!

We were able to enjoy an excellent, fine meal with the very nice host. The wine list also leaves nothing to be desired.

The food was rather poor, i.e. bland ingredients and minced meat, vegetables were messily arranged on the plate without any taste, mashed potatoes were almost liquid!! Dessert OK. A pity!!

We stayed in the old hostel on the weekend. The rooms as well as the entire restaurant are furnished with attention to detail. We were warmly welcomed, even though the restaurant was very busy. The breakfast was super delicious. Thank you very much and we will definitely come back.

Venison schnitzel was hard, no excuse from the kitchen.

Well, dear people... unfortunately we can't quite confirm the many good reviews! Reception, service, friendliness was great... we were 8 guests. Unfortunately it didn't work out with the venison schnitzel (2 people). The meat was dead... in German, completely cooked and just chewy! Someone else's hash browns weren't cooked through on the inside; they would have lasted longer in the pan. The restaurant was full, so it was definitely stressful in the kitchen. We left feedback for the service and left “pieces of evidence” so that our criticism could be checked in the kitchen. We were amazed by the feedback from the kitchen and the reaction to our tip... nothing! Completely ignored, no apology, hmmmm... too bad! I think they can do better than they did that night, but because of this ignorance we probably won't try there again. Oh good!

We were “only” there for ice cream. Although my godfather ordered individual balls, he received a large glass with various fruits in it. I also saw that the portions for the food were very generous.
