Aarebistro in Olten

Staff is unmotivated and rude, as I have seen they will be treated like animals from the owner himself. He is a pig, to say it nice. No wonder when the employees need to work with conditions like that in a hot summer, day by day.

A small cosy restaurant Swiss Chalet in Olten! We had fondue and Raclette.. was really good. Special thanks to the team for good service.

We went to try the cheese fondue last December 2nd. Although we arrived late, they took care of us. The Dominican cook was very kind, since my son is allergic and he was able to adapt one of the dishes. Very pleasant views of the river. The only drawback is that the wooden house was not equipped, it was cold and very humid.

I enjoyed one of the best fondues of my life in this cozy chalet restaurant. The rustic atmosphere and warm hospitality added to the unforgettable experience. Every bite of the delicious fondue was a true taste experience. An absolute must for all foodies! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was ok. Unfortunately, you always had to reorder everything yourself. It would be nice if the service asked itself. In my opinion the service was also understaffed. Some of the shells for the raglett are older and therefore the cheese sticks and comes down poorly. Should be replaced from time to time. The ambience is homely, rustic and suitable for eating fondue or raglett.

Very cozy place for an after-work beer

Food of normal quality, the best thing about the place is its views. The worst thing is that you have to act as a waiter yourself.

Small bar on the Aare, very nice if you want to enjoy the sun or the nice weather. Were there again last Sunday because the weather was fine in the afternoon after dinner. There weren't many people there yet, which was good because we found space quickly. If it's busy, the seats go quickly. I think it's nice that there are lounge chairs on the bank where you can soak up the sun and further up there are seats with fixed tables so you can watch the river. The food is generous in size and not expensive for the portion you get. The ice creams are MEGA LARGE, absolutely recommended. What confuses me a bit is the ordering process. Sometimes they bring it, then it is self-service depending on time. It should always be the same so that people do it. Service was nice and the ambience was rather so-so, but of course the sun and the Aare saved the whole thing.

Cozy beach club vibe on the beautiful river. Food is basic but fine. We went for a burger and fries. Portions are generous.

Amazing spot, great restaurant for brunch, dinner, or just a few drinks and snacks. Great location with fabulous view, we ended up here 3 times. The staff was very friendly. The food is great, vegetarian options are very decent and fresh, we had chicken and vegi falafel, both were good. Chicken portion was not special though, and a bit small. The price for such a location is very reasonable. Totally recommended.

We were at the Aarebistro last night, unfortunately there wasn't much that was pleasant about our visit. Ordering via QR code didn't work, so we had to laboriously order via the bar. In other words, zero service with really expensive prices (almost 30CHF for a salad with chicken). Service people seemed annoyed, although I didn't have the feeling that they were stressed. The salad in the salad bowl was a ready-made salad, nothing special, the promised avocado was missing, we weren't even told about it. Maybe the customer doesn't notice. These are all things that wouldn't lead me to write such a review because the ambience on the water is really nice. However, my colleague (with whom I was at the Aarebistro yesterday) told me that she had to vomit several times last night after we came back from the Aarebistro. We suspect it had something to do with the chicken, something was probably wrong. I'm fine since I didn't have chicken. Dear Aarebistro, not like that, pay attention to your hygiene and cold chains should be possible at these prices!

We had: Falafel, Fries and Bruschetta. This is literally the place to be in summer in Olten. Good and well priced food, nice view and good atmosphere. Adequate for dates, drinks with friends or even company gatherings. Reservation possible, they are open from Mai-September when the weather is nice. I did send a SMS with BISTRO to 880 to check if they are open, what a great service =)

As always, a very comfortable way to end the day on the Aare. Fine burgers👍🏼

Great for lying in the sun and occasionally swimming in the Aare

We had not one, not two, but three bad experiences with this place. The first time we tried ordering our food via QR code at each table, but it didn't work. Second time we ordered by QR code but never received it so we waited in vain. In the end we had to go to the waitress and order more. Today was the worst, we reserved a table for three people but when we got there they said someone had canceled our reservation! When we said we hadn't canceled they said maybe someone was joking! We are not offered a table and the staff didn't even bother to check if they could offer a table in about 30 minutes. I doubt we will visit this place again. They are only popular because of their location, but there are better options in Olten.

Great place to relax and enjoy the ☀️ sun and the river. There are cushions to sit on the steps and also lounge chairs with parasols. Orders must be placed at the tables using a QR code. I would be happy about a normal ordering option. Food good, service good, everything good, 😎!!

amazing halloumi burger. it's a cozy place right next to the river with deckchairs and tables. you can order a variety of fruity flavoured mojitos that are very refreshing. first choice in olten when looking for a comfy atmosphere:)

We went to Aarebistro and ordered a bowl and drinks. The drinks for the first round came very quickly, as did the bowl. The waiter asked if we wanted bread and we said yes... BUT there was no bread. There was also no waiter in sight to order again. It was a shame, as the bread was offered... We ordered the second round of drinks again using the QR code and then we realized that we wouldn't be able to get there that quickly! WE HAD TO WAIT OVER 30 MINUTES FOR A PINA COLADA!! This is absolutely unacceptable and has left us extremely disappointed! The service is extremely overwhelmed, because the tables weren't cleared after the meal... It's a shame because the location was really GREAT and the bowl was also good.

What to add...enjoy food by the river!!!

My first impression was good, even though I was only there for a short time. I think the ambience and the location on the Aare are nice. I'll definitely go back.

Holiday, June 8th, 2023, great weather 4 employees had fun preparing It wasn't clear that the bistro was still closed How many “almost guests” were there -> according to the desk, it was half an hour before opening Self service, we "only" wanted 2 colas and coffee... Other "guests" wanted a Hugo or another aperitif drink Information from the desk employee that we should wait, there is nothing yet Great service, thanks for nothing!

Self-service until 1800. From 1800, when I wanted to order verbally from the waitress and pay in cash, I was informed that you can only order online. The glass had already been empty for 5 minutes. Then leave the operation altogether if no human interaction is desired. The customer can then do the final step, picking up the item after ordering online, themselves.

We went to dinner today Aarebistro. The bistro burger and hawaibowl were fantastic. All the food was very fresh and tasted great. The service was very friendly and the ambience on the Aare was a dream. An oasis to linger in the city. We will be back.

The Mediterranean burger is absolute class. Roasted onions as it should be, great meat and bread and all the other ingredients were harmonious.

The refreshing drinks in summer are great and suitable for the season. Right on the Aare with sun until late in the evening you can spend a few cozy hours here.

Lovely chalet right by the river. Good food and great atmosphere.

It was comfortable in the chalet but quite tight. The portions were very large. For me it didn't taste particularly good; The cheese tasted very standard, which I found to be a shame. At the beginning my drink was also forgotten.

Apparently it only works with a QR code... then order like that and pay online... you should also pay the tip in advance... it was too much of a hassle for us to go somewhere else... the waitress didn't seem to care either. ..

We felt the same way as Sonja Eberhard. Why do we have to approve of something so impersonal these days? Order and pay in advance with QR code? ! The staff was very friendly but we preferred to change the location.

A complicated ordering system that ultimately doesn't work. Meanwhile, the waitress walks through the rows of tables looking bored and asks if we're getting along. I haven't experienced anything so strange in a long time. Of course we could have ordered at the bar...we could go somewhere else for that. Too bad.. 🙈

The place on the Aare is very beautiful and the food tastes delicious. I find the service a bit chaotic and prone to errors despite the purely electronic ordering option. In addition, any voucher/receipt that may be requested without a VAT number and the address of the restaurant is unusable and unacceptable.

Prepay bistro and not able to serve the right meal. Order did not come because the kitchen forgot it. When finally arrived, the vegetables were already partly rotten. I suggest to go eat somewhere else!

It was our first time at the Aarebistro... The service was very friendly... The bistro is in a great location right on the Aare... You have a great view of the Aare and it's very cozy there... It's a 5-minute walk from Olten train station... And the Alte Hzbrücke isn't far either... So you can quickly get to the bistro from the old town... 👍🏻

The location of the restaurant, the homemade iced tea and the fries were great, but I was disappointed with the burger. Very tough and dry meat. Overall it was okay.

Uncomplicated place where you can meet people without worrying

Was 5/5 until last year. We were still satisfied with the food and service this year. Unfortunately there are now only electronic cards. You also have to order via your smartphone and pay directly in advance (including tips). Other payment methods were poorly communicated.

The bistro is very close to the Aare and very pleasant. Your drinks are very good. The vegi burger had a very good taste and so did the fries. Highly recommended.

I think the atmosphere is very, very nice, but please don't drink cocktails there. In any case, the Pina Colada and the Longisland Icetea are horror! The food looked very good but we didn't try it. Still worth a visit.
