Friendly service and delicious food.

The best restaurant we've ever been to. I've been coming to Morcote for 6 years now and at least one meal at Battello is always a must. I don't know of any other restaurant where EVERYTHING on the menu tastes good: the lasagna, the rabbit, the schnitzel, the chef noodles and so on. The ambience couldn't be better, whether at sunset or during thunderstorms and rain, Battello always offers a cozy and romantic dining experience. The service is fabulous, you can hardly find such warm and friendly people in the catering industry anymore. I will come back, like every year!

Risotto to die for!!! Excellent location right on the lake with outdoor seating and extremely friendly service. Watching the risotto be prepared was a very cool experience, and the taste was so worth it. Right next to the bus stop as well in case you're not staying in Morcote. Highly highly recommend!

What a beautiful, delicious, friendly experience it was eating here! I can’t have gluten and, as imagined, it was difficult to find anything I could eat (other than salad or a meat/fish dish) in this small, Italian-speaking Swiss town. I spoke to the very friendly woman standing in the restaurant, asking about gluten-free options, and she mentioned that they have polenta. She switched to Spanish for me (I speak zero Italian and a bit of Spanish) to explain further. I got Polenta Bolognese - not on the menu, but I asked specifically for it and they said sure! Then I mixed it with my friend’s Polenta Formaggio (which was delicious in its own right - perfectlyyy melted cheese) - and it was incredible! It was basically gluten-free lasagna. Learned that the wonderful woman I spoke with, Radica (pictured here hugging me) owns this restaurant - I joked with her and our kind, friendly waiter named Dragan that they should add this Lasagna without gluten to the menu! It was a truly lovely experience and I highly recommend. Kind, friendly people who genuinely helped me eat delicious gluten free food, an absolutely stunning view of Lake Lugano as we ate lunch, and an incredibly charming atmosphere under old archways. Go here!!!

We've been here a couple of times, and it's always excellent. Friendly staff, great food, cozy ambiance. We had a table with lake view. Prices are medium high and worth it. Around 60 to 70 euros per person, but we also had wine. Would recommend!

Everything about this place was amazing! The food was incredible & the service was even better! We got the gorgonzola risotto and ravioli filled with beef in a sage and butter sauce and it was so delicious! I highly recommend visiting this place if you are in this area!

Gorgeous little restaurant on the waterfront. The ossobuco tasted like it was made by an Italian family friend. Our waiter went out of his way to communicate in English, despite our lack of knowledge of the language. He also offered to wrap our leftovers to go, so that's something offered here that's not typical of other Swiss/European restaurants.

Lunch literally overlooking the lake under the beautiful porticoes of Morcote. Welcoming and accurate service, despite the tables being all occupied, the service manager finds a way to have a nice chat. I ate an excellent sea bass with vegetables, well done and well presented. In general, very generous portions, as a single dish. Account in line with location, quantity and quality.

Just WOW! The location is beautiful, but the food... amazing! The waiter was serving the whole restaurant by himself, but was so attentive, charming, and friendly. I think it was one of the best meals I have ever had - Ossobuco and the lemon veal scallopini.

We came here for dinner based on the reviews, and they don’t lie. Great food, extremely friendly staff and nice ambience. The waiter serves the whole restaurant by himself, but has the best attention to detail I’ve seen. Very impressive. We had the ossobuco, piccata and tiramisu. It was all excellent with royal portions. Would definitely come here again when in the area.

What can I say? Beautiful town (although cloudy and empty when I was there) and fantastic restaurant. The food was delicious, one of the best carbonara I ever had. To quote one of my travel companions, this place has the best bolognese he ever tasted. The ultimate icing(s) of my lunch? Seated at a table to my right was Mr Erwin Gartenmann, pilot for Auguste Piccard mesoscaphe, the very first Swiss passenger submarine. After sharing his experiences with us, he was even kind enough to leave us with a note. As if to round off my Swiss experience, Ms Simone Erni, daughter of the fabled swiss graphic designer and painter, Hans Erni, was coincidentally (or not) dining with Mr Gartenmann. She approached our table and extended the invitation to visit her gallery in Morcote. What more could I have asked for from this lunch?

I don’t review often so I mean it when I say it- this restaurant is amazing. Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. There are three people running this place and they work seamlessly. The waiter is incredibly friendly and makes dinner here a wonderful experience. I was so impressed how he catered to so many guests yet still made us feel like the only people in the restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. You can really taste the difference. The wine was immaculate. Loved everything about this dining experience. Absolutely worth the trip. Excellent food with very friendly, courteous service! Had booked rooms 1+2, very clean and comfortable beds, bedding. With a direct view of the lake - a dream! Ideal starting point for various hikes and everything is well connected by public transport. We left our car in the car silo all week.

You don't have to visit Capraia Isola for the best spaghetti ever. Simply visit Al Battello in Morcote. The Alio e Olio was the best I had for many years. Very friendly staff, an authentic restaurant with traditional meals. Totally recommend!

Ordered 4 different starters. All gorgeous. Even a simple spaghetti with tomato sauce had its peculiarity. Not to mention the chef's dish, a real surprise. The simple but very friendly service, which doesn't hurt. Prices in line with the place.

I only write reviews if it is really exceptionally good. This was definitely the case at Batello. Service very courteous and humorous. The quality of the food was top and cooked with love. They are also very flexible with special requests. Hardly any waiting time. My tip is to make a reservation because there aren't many tables. Price-performance ratio unbeatable.

Nice little restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. The dishes are plentiful and truly delicious. We ate ai funghi risotto there which was really good. The person is really welcoming and kind.

Recommendation, one of the most beautiful places in Ticino.

I don't know if we were just plain famished after a long morning with two kids, but the saltimbocca with polenta was divine. It was tender, and seasoned to perfection. The mushroom ravioli, and the gnocchi were both commendable, but it was hard to follow after that saltimbocca.

We have lived in Ticino for two years and this was the best meal that we've had so far. Really friendly service and every meal had by our party was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back! Magical experience!

Don't think you can find better Ticino cuisine. Not even with such a location on the lake. Definitely again!

There are a few restaurants under these old and venerable arcades and it's not easy to decide based on the menus, but with Google Maps it's child's play 😁 The boss, so nice, so charming and hospitable and then the food, OMG, culinary delights a La Excellence! Whether spaghetti, fish or rabbit (the Ticino specialty par excellence), everything is incredibly delicious. If you don't visit this restaurant, it's really your own fault!

Tables on the terrace under the arcades. I let myself be guided by another comment by having the rabbit with polenta, it was excellent! I also liked the glass of Ticino Merlot to accompany it. My wife's clam pasta looked pretty good to me. The service was very good. Even though the waiter only seemed to speak Italian, he was extremely friendly! The wait time before being served and getting our dishes was rather short. The prices are normal but for excellent quality with apparently entirely homemade dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant!
