The restaurant is beautifully located right on the lake. The Quattro Formaggio pizza was fresh but not quite hot. Unfortunately, the pizza dough is rubbery. Very nice service but at the top end of the price.

We stayed in this cute place, with a wonderful view of the lake. We had dinner and enjoyed an excellent pizza and a good first course with seafood, friendly and customer-focused staff. Highly recommended.

In my personal opinion, the kitchen has made real progress since my review 3 years ago. After I thought the food was OK at the time. - but somehow I rated it just 08/15, we were very pleased with our recent visit. Service is still experienced and attentive.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere but rude and unfriendly staff.

Sadly, I need to rate this place as the most horrible experience in Switzerland. After one hour waiting time no food was served. When asking for explanation, the owner pushed us back in a very rude manner saying it wasn't possible. This is not the type of service you would expect in such a highly rated location. A real pity, as the view is excellent.

Dinner - we both ordered gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce - was served quickly, fresh and hot and it tasted very delicious! The service is friendly and helpful. We will be back :)

I've known this pizzeria for 29 years, we had a green salad and tomatoes with onions and a pizza each, ordered a green salad for 9fr, the spiders and then you have to mix the salad dressing yourself for a salad that wasn't even fresh and the pizza it was so bland and it was swimming in cheese fat it was just sickening so bad no wonder the place is empty chairs very uncomfortable staff unfriendly don't even bother to speak German half the staff sat comfortably at a table and we could wait until we arrived finally got our drink. definitely a NO GO. Osteria Nostrana right next door is 1000 times better. Our Gran Fritto Misto for CHF 38 wasn't even the size of a children's portion, pure chewing gum. Only frozen shrimps from major distributors. Pizza without taste. Fries for the children not well fried. Waiters friendly but slightly overwhelmed.

It sounded good on the menu and didn't look bad on the plate either. But the menu said "fried seafood" with seasonal vegetables... but eggplant and a few zucchini are not in season and the dip was missing. The pizza was coolly prepared. Unfortunately the service wasn't very attentive. Conclusion: I will definitely try one of the many other restaurants in this beautiful harbor on my next visit to Ascona.

Ma il pezzo forte e lo spaghetto allo scoglio e buonissimooo davvero neanche in Italia ho mangiato così buono. Mio marito ha preso spaghetti vongole e anche quelle mi ha fatto assaggiare erano buonissime. Ho visto i tavoli vicino ha noi else pizze che uscivano erano molto belle. Questo posto è stato davvero una bella solpresa. Squisiti, sembrava di essere fronte mare. In seguito abbiamo optato per un Branzino al Sale, non potevamo fare scelta migliore, la cottura era perfetta e le verdure di stagione INDIMENTICABILI. Tutto cucinato con amore. Consiglio veramente di passare a mangiare qualcosa se avete voglia di aria italiana. Ottima serata.

Mittags, Sonnenschein, ein Tisch am See - eigentlich ideale Voraussetzungen für ein paar schöne Stunden. Das Al Gabbiano verwöhnt einen dagegen mit unerhörten Wartezeiten in allen Bereichen, mit einer mickrigen und völlig überteuerten Salatschale und auffallend unorganisiertem Service. Ganz offensichtlich hat es dieser Restaurationsbetrieb auch nach Covid19 nicht nötig, sich als Gastgeber zu empfehlen. Das Desinfektionsmassnahmen an den Tisch nach dem Gästewechsel nur teilweise ausgeführt werden, passt zum negativen Gesamteindruck.

Ci siamo fermati per bene qualcosa sulla Promenade di Ascona, ci hanno accolto molto bene. Ci siamo informati sui diversi menu che propongono ed il cameriere ci ha spiegato e consigliato specialmente i piatti di pesce/frittura.Purtroppo non c'é la possibilità di prenotare tuttavia un bellissimo posto proprio a ridosso del lago Maggiore.Sembra proprio di essere in vacanza .....

Wir assen auf Empfehlung des Hotels im Al Gabbiano zu Nacht.Es verging eine Stunde bis wir das zu trinken bestellen konnten, obwohl wir die Kellner mehrmals darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben, dass wir bestellen möchten. Danach vergingen nochmal 45 Minuten um zwei Pizzas zu erhalten. Die Pizzas waren mit 27.- überteuert und qualitativ mit einem türkischen Lieferservice zu vergleichen.Der Service war komplett überfordert, demotiviert und unfreundlich.Service: MiserabelEssen: 0815, keine Liebe, hat nichts mit einem italienischen Restaurant zu tun Preis: zu teuer für die Qualität An der Promenade gibt es einige gute Restaurants, dieses aber würde ich niemandem empfehlen.

Beim Flanieren um die Mittagszeit sahen wir, dass die Terrasse gut besucht und die Tische schön gedeckt waren. Normalerweise ein Zeichen, dass man hier gut essen kann. Wir entdeckten gerade noch eine Tisch. Zuerst wurden wir am Eingang übersehen, bis dass wahrscheinlich die Chefin den Köllner auf uns aufmerksam machte. Wir erhielten diesen Tisch und voller Erwartung bestellten wir Spaghetti Aglio Olio und Piccata Milanese mit Safranrisotto. Der Service klappte, jedoch fiel uns nicht auf, dass er besonders aufmerksam war. Die aus der Küche gelieferten Speisen waren okay, mehr nicht. Kein frischer Pepperoncino in den Spaghetti, eher fade Panade an den Kalbsschnitzel. Ja, während andere Tische mit den Softdrinks Brot auf den Tisch gestellt bekamen, mussten wir Brot trotz einer bestellten Flasche Rotwein extra verlangen. Parmesan zu Pasta oder Risotto wurde nicht einmal nachgefragt bzw. unaufgefordert auf den Tisch gestellt. Die Portionen viel zu klein, der Preis dafür nicht gerechtfertigt. Schade, dass der Schein hier so enorm trügt!.

Wir mussten 45 Minuten auf unsere Pizzen warten! Kein Wort der Entschuldigung... Bei der Pizza Hawaii wurde die kalte Ananas nachträglich "draufgeschmissen". Dann wurde behauptet, so würde man Pizza Hawaii immer machen. So werden hier die Gäste für dumm verkauft! Unfreundlich und unprofessionell das Personal und der Chef selber, Essen nicht das Geld wert. Nur Ärger und ein verdorbener Abend!

Am ersten Tag der Wiedereröffnung der Terrassen haben wir 2 Pizzen als Take-away bestellt. Nach doch relativ langer Wartezeit erhielten wir das Essen. Doch das Warten hat sich nicht gelohnt. Das Essen war nicht sehr warm und irgendwie nicht richtig durchgebacken. Der Chef war sichtlich überfordert und von Freundlichkeit keine Spur. Sorry, ich kann es nicht empfehlen.

Lange Wartezeiten, kalte Atmosphäre sowie fettiges Essen und keine herzliche Bedienung. Wir waren Hotelgäste vom Hotel Al Meridiana (**** Stern) und das Restaurant gehörte zum Hotel. Leider war der Restaurantaufenthalt keine vier Sterne würdig. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Am ertsen tag mit wenigen Leuten war die Bedienung und das Essen sehr gut, die Menge von Risotte etwas sehr klein ausgefallen, aber sehr gut.Am 2. Tag mit mehr Leuten überfordert an allen Ecken, es geht halt nicht mit einer Bedienung 10 Tische gleichzeitig zufrieden zu stellen und den zusätzlichen Verkauf über die Strasse gleichzeitig.Wir haben und entschlossen uns den Stress zuzumuten und das Geburtstagessen zu verschieben an einem anderen Ort.

I felt very welcome at the restaurant and the staff was very friendly and the service was good.I had pizza and bruschette and both were excellent. I went there for 2 conscutive nights and had pizza both times. So lI recommend the pizza.

Die Bedienung war ganz ordentlich. Bis auf den Chef der als einziger des Personals ohne Schutzmaske herumlief. Wenn wir auswärts essen gehen in der derzeitigen Situation legen wir Wert darauf, dass auch unsere Gesundheit geschützt wird.Das Essen war gut sowohl Spaghetti Carbonara wie auch Scoglio.
