Great restaurant. The view of Matterhorn on a clear day is spectacular, but that is not the only reason to come here. Along with the drink we ordered, came complementary bread and excellent hummus, at the level of a Lebanese restaurant 😊 The onion soup for starter was wonderful. Due to of the success of the hummus, I decided to be brave and order, up in the mountains, a Vietnamese curry. A successful gamble - the curry was full of flavors, moderately spicy and very tasty. The coffee was mediocre, like most places in Switzerland, but the berry tart was a sweet ending to a great meal.

Live music, nice service, wonderful view. Unfortunately, Eichhofbier is served and sold as local beer, which I don't like and isn't true because it comes from Lucerne

What a great location with super friendly hosts, live music and great food, especially the Rösti. We ended up here by chance when we were leaving and then booked a table for lunch three times. Top.

Great hut with a large terrace and a view of the Matterhorn. The Alphitta is easy to reach via the ski slope or after a five-minute walk from the Riffelalp station of the Gornergradbahn. While you take a break you can also have your skis or snowboard prepared next door. The service on the Aplhitta is multilingual, friendly and usually fast. We only had to wait a bit for the main courses during our visits. The choice of food is very diverse. In addition to Swiss Rösti, there are fish and meat dishes as well as bowls and pasta dishes. The food was good, but a bit blandly seasoned. Unfortunately, the vegetarian pasta with tomato sauce that we ordered had meat in it. Overall, great hut for a short break with a beautiful view. Live music is also played from time to time.

Outside is fine but we were inside at the first floor where they maximize the number of people you can stuck in such a small room. It results a very crowded and inconfortable place with table in places you should have left free to commute. Please reconsider the guest confort vs maximizing the incomes. The food was good in general however some dishes like pasta are way too basic with respect to the prices they are sold.

Everything was wonderful about this restaurant! We are so glad we discovered it during this year's trip because it will definitely be on our list for all our future Zermatt trips. Tania, the owner, was so friendly and welcoming and just made our experience unforgettable. The food was fantastic, the location was perfect, the service was great and we were also warmly welcomed by the sweetest Spanish waterdogs you'll ever meet who were so kind as to sit with us for a few moments :). Everything about this place is incredible!!!

Cozy restaurant with a great view!

Waiting too long, very long. Dishes too expensive for the quality, especially the Alphita pasta, which is ultimately just pasta with tomato sauce and nothing more, in very small quantities. The other dishes, however, are very good (grilled pork belly, Apfelstrudel), even if too expensive. However, nice place and nice staff.

This place! Needs to be in everyone's mountain schedule. Great food and hospitality. Gorgeous dogs. Cracking live music... and Dave? Yes, your host can bang out the tunes too! Loved it. Go here Mark Bishop

I had mushroom soup and the prawn salad. As usual their chef is obsessed with adding cream to everything. The mushroom soup was over blended and bland. I like a non cream soup with real mushrooms actually tasting of mushrooms. The say the dressing on the salad is vinaigrette. I asked for no cream because Swiss chefs don’t know how to make a proper vinaigrette. It arrived with cream as usual. Nul points.

Super friendly host, food was great and then there is the stunning view of the Matterhorn…

Really cosy cabin, with really friendly staff. Situated directly by the Piste it's å nice place for a breake. Nice toilets. My Rösti and sausage wasn't quite on par with, for example the one I got in Findlerhof.

Alphitta was like a dream run they show in movies. Just the perfect place in the most beautiful surroundings one can imagine. Dev and his staff were very friendly. Dev was kind enough to drop my wife back at the station. And, his two dogs decided to lie under our table. Added attraction.

An amazing place for a meal while out skiing the slopes. A very cute restaurant with an amazing atmosphere inside. The staff were amazingly friendly and the food was the best I have had while on the slopes in Zermatt. Great fresh and tasty food at an affordable price. A must when you are next skiing the slopes and need somewhere for lunch.

Must see when in Zermatt. What a great location. Owner was very friendly and the food was delicious. Ask to see the dogs. They're very well behaved.

Well, we were a little disappointed, glasses weren't clean and the waiters, who served the entire terrace in pairs, were pretty stressed. They were friendly and tried to be attentive, but with this level of workload they were only moderately successful. Maybe we were just unlucky with the service. The food was good, Valais platter was good, salad, well.

Beyond cool. Dave and Tanya are just great people that love the mountains, love to socialize, love to entertain and are phenomenal host. When I find myself in Zermatt I go out of my way to enjoy sometime at Alphitta.

Simply wonderful the food and the team. We'll definitely be back...

Excellent food, service and friendliness

A wonderful stop on the train or hiking between Zermatt and Gorngrat for the Matterhorn. The staff is funny and personable. The food was delicious. We had the broccoli soup and Black Forest cake and spritzes. A welcome break. 👍👍

Very hard to beat this restaurant. We had the steak special and is came out perfect with lots of flavor. The host Dave treated us like long time friends. There are a lot of great places to eat in Zermot but this stands out. I did not even mention the atmosphere and VIEW. Fantastic experience!

This was a gorgeous place to sit and relax and have a meal. The owner is so friendly and warm and gave me treats to give to his dogs Marley and Pepper, . The bruschetta was amazing!

One of the most incredible lunches I’ve had on a trip. The view of the Matterhorn is postcard-level, and the food is just as good (fav thing was the mustard aioli they served with their fries). Call ahead to make a reservation - or arrive before the lunch rush at 1pm - and make sure to say hi to Pepper and Bob Marley, their adorable poodles:)

Delightful little mountain restaurant with delicious food. We had the local cheese salad and the Roasted pork belly. What a treat for hungry & thirsty hikers.

This is the second time my mom (Lynne) and I have visited and this was the best place we’ve eaten at both times. The food is served with a smile and maybe a little joke. The owners make you feel very at home and are just the sweetest and funniest people you will meet. The apple cake is to die for, and everything tastes so fresh and is obviously made with love. This place is certainly a little jewel and we cannot wait to visit again! From the Irish lassies! :)

Amazing day in Zermatt. Started with diving off of a helicopter with SkyDiveZermatt, then came to lunch at Alphitta. We didn't only get good food and good service but the view is amazing. To top it off, we got to enjoy 3 hours of live music, with a great musicien/singer supported at times by the boss👌🥳. You can't stop by Zermatt and miss this place. Thanks to the team.

Come for the atmosphere and view and you’ll probably be happy. Everyone is very friendly. Fantastic atmosphere as the singer/owner is a super friendly guy who knows how to entertain. We ordered bruschetta which is the only thing available at the time. It is good. Definitely overpriced. We stay at the rifflealp resort steps above this restaurant and the resort restaurants and bar offer far better food/drink and same view at a cheaper price.

Always so warm and beautiful...

At their recommendation I had the leg of lamb for lunch and it was spectacular. By far the best meal of my trip. The view was equally impressive. All staff were extremely kind and friendly. Highest recommendation for a drink or food on your way up or down the mountain.

Super nice and cozy hut with a view of the Matterhorn

Had an amazing time here celebrating our honeymoon!!! My wife emailed the restaurant for a reservation prior and mentioned that we were on our honeymoon. The owners took it upon themselves to make our day extra special. They reserved us the best table with a clear view of the Matterhorn. They even got the singer to play our wedding song which was super special. Food was also amazing also amazing and to hear top it all off the view of the Matterhorn was stunning. 10/10, and we will definitely be back as this is as one of the most memorable dining experiences we have had.

A cozy restaurant with a brilliant view of the Matterhorn. Unfortunately, the service was completely overwhelmed and very weak. (Terrace was well attended, but no rush). In addition, there were no more Rösti in the afternoon. This is particularly annoying here because around 1/3 of the dishes come with hash browns. Then ordered a poke bowl with chicken, which was good in itself. Only the chicken was bland and very dry.

Try the bruschetta from their garden and local cows. The pesto is frankly, as best as I've ever had. The bratwurst and rosti with onion sauce is a very common dish in Switzerland, but it was SO tasty. The deck is an incredible spot to eat and enjoy Matterhorn views, and I enjoyed all the friendly dogs! In short- it was perfect!

Great place with wonderful terrace and spectacular view of the Matterhorn. Helpful and very friendly staff, who made sure we were just fine. We had the perfect seat and the live music completed the cosy atmosphere. All ingredients for a relaxed and perfect afternoon in the mountains.

We decided to stop here after walking down from Riffelberg, and we really enjoyed our time - the atmosphere was incredible, the views were spectacular, and the service was unmatched. The owners were extremely friendly. Our food was ok. The rosti was almost below average but I think the views and service made up for the food. We have two young kids, 8, and they loved this place because there was a playground and trampoline up the hill.

All around great experience. The bruschetta with cheese made from the cows on the property was delicious. The views of the Matterhorn were spectacular. The service was friendly, attentive, and fun. And to top it off there were two super sweet dogs that hung with us for our afternoon drinks. Thanks again to the wonderful service team!!

Great Restaurant , fun owners too

Our waitress didn't speak German. We had to order in English.The waiting times are extra.and the prices....Way too expensive. For 2 coffees and 2 cakes 34 - is too much.

Just had a wonderful time at ALPHITTA beautiful Terasse great food nice staff (including the four legged ones), great wine list. Will go back for sure especially when there will be live music!!

After a beautiful walk down from Riffelberg we had lunch on the beautiful terrasse with very good Rösti and great « planchette Valaisanne » ☺️ the waiter was really friendly and the prices are reasonable for Zermatt 🏔️

What a beautiful view we had for lunch. The bruschetta was amazing with cheese right from the cows grazing on the mountain. The pork and salad were great. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. The owners were friendly and the owners dogs who sat with us after the meal ended were precious. Great place to stop on our hike down from Gornergrat.

What a gem of a place, luckily we got talking to Dave, the owner on the Gornergrat train. He convinced us to stop there for our lunch on the way back, we were promised excellent food, views and a park for our daughter. What a bit of luck this was as Alphita definitely delivered! The view was spectacular the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere as we had a fantastic lunch topped up with champagne. Perfect end to a hike and proposal that morning, Thanks!

The view of the Matterhorn is great! But even if the view isn’t clear, you still want to visit this place. The owners/staff/resident pups were so friendly even when they were very busy. And the food was the best we had in Switzerland.

We had a wonderful time here during our hike down from Gornergrat. We arrived right before closing and were welcomed to take a seat and enjoy beautiful views and a beer. We even got to hang out with the owners’ dogs. The owners were incredibly kind and made us feel we could truly relax and enjoy the views.

Very friendly and uncomplicated service. Sitting comfortably on the terrace with a great view of the Matterhorn. And the dogs are pampered and cared for too!

The innkeepers Tanja and Dave are very nice and try to fulfill every wish.

We actually heard about Alphitta from fellow hikers we randomly crossed path with - they praised it enough that we decided to make it a dedicated stop on our hike in the area. It was a very cool experience, the view is amazing and the food was so tasty and fresh. Our kids were so happy to meet Pepper and Marley, two well behaved sweet pups ( we were, too) :) We got to play a game of UNO ( provided by the restaurant) while waiting for the food which kept our kids entertained. Tanja and Dave are super personable and nice, we enjoyed chatting with them and we were very happy we decided to give this restaurant a try!

We stumbled upon Restaurant Alphitta after hiking down from Gornergrat, and I don’t think we could’ve asked for a better experience. Owners Dave and Tanja are fantastic hosts, as well as their two pups Pepper & Marley. The patio view overlooking the Matterhorn can’t be beat, as it’s the best place to enjoy a beer after hours of hiking. The Tomato Soup was delicious, as was the hummus. But the hospitality from Dave and Tanja would be what would bring us back again. I couldn’t imagine friendlier owners who really care that their guests are having an amazing experience in their restaurant. 10/10 would recommend, and would be a regular if I lived nearby.

Amazing! We arrived by cogwheel train to Riffelalp. They are not officially open, but offered drinks and sandwiches. Incredible view, perfect and unique spot to contemplate the Matterhorn. Thank you for one of the highlights of our trip to Switzerland.

We’re skiing in Zermatt already for many years and Alphitta is by far our favorite place to have lunch or a drink. Best terras with amazing Matterhorn view, often live music outside, very cosy and warm atmosphere restaurant inside. The food is of good quality with some traditional Swiss dishes but also tasty creative other food like poke bowl and nice daily specials. Lovely service by the owners Tanja and Dave and their amazing team. A beautiful lively place to go!

A quaint restaurant with one of the most beautiful, magical views of the Matterhorn. The food was delicious and prepared with love. The service was very, very nice, friendly and accommodating. Here the guest is still king and is not simply dismissed. If you are looking for a unique experience in Zermatt, then you should not miss the Alphitta mountain restaurant. I had the pleasure of dining at Alphitta and was impressed with the quality of the food and drinks. The menu offers a wide range of regional dishes, all freshly prepared and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting, which made my visit even more pleasant. The restaurant's terrace offers spectacular views of the Matterhorn and is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Tanja and Dave are wonderful hosts and gave me a warm welcome. Overall, my visit to Alphitta was an unforgettable experience and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Zermatt. I give the restaurant five stars and thank Tanja and Dave for their hospitality.

Fun and culinary delights in a fantastic setting

Dave and Tanja's Alphitta restaurant on the side of zermatt's Rifleberg ski area is fantastic. We enjoyed the live music and well placed sunny deck. The food was delicious and the whole vibe was brought together by the hosts Dave and Tanja. Dave even joined in with the band for a few songs. 5/5 stars

Welcoming. Makes you feel at home, very cozy. Good food. The bratwurst was fantastic but I love apple struddel, and they may have one of the best Appel strudels in my life. If u have any affinity for Apple strudel, you have to try theirs. Quality of Apple Strudel: A+++

BEST restaurant on the mountain! Late lunch at the end of our last run on our last day …3 of us: The lamb shank, mushroom risotto and chèvre salad were all EXCELLENT… We sat outside on the deck with a bottle of Rosé and enjoyed a STUNNING VIEW of the Matterhorn - LIVE MUSIC (guitarist/singer) was wonderful. The Manager, Dave, took the mic for his own rendition of ‘Its a Wonderful World’ capping off a magical meal. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Unfortunately there isn't much good to say today. Reservation was supposed to be outside but was inside, ok that was managed. The fact that 4 German guests had the feeling that they had to smoke cigars and didn't realize that this was not only bothering us but also the other guests was a real shame. But I don't understand why the management doesn't intervene and advise these unfriendly and abusive guests to smoke their cigars somewhere else. The icing on the cake of today's experience was the fact that it took another 1 ½ hours until we could eat. All I can say is that there are other huts in Zermatt, but not here. Since the response was in English, I will add a small edit in English… you missed the point of the review.

We had the tartare, it was great... the view of the Matthorn is wonderful.
