I went on a hike from Zermatt to the Hörnlihütte in the summer and it was very nice. Unfortunately the kitchen was already closed, but I at least ordered a delicious carrot cake.

An experience even without climbing the Matterhorn. As part of the Matterhorn Trek, the Hörnli Hut was our destination on the fourth day. Stayed for the night here, before ascending the Matterhorn. Can’t recommend it enough….the accommodations are amazing, more like a hotel, than a mountain hut. The staff was very courteous and helpful….great meals….What can I say?….it’s Switzerland, so expect the best climbing experience!!! Reserve on website 72 hours before hand if you want to spend the night. Supper included, breakfast served at 4:00.

Very strenuous tour from Schwarzsee to the Hörnlihütte, we had already thought about turning around again because it was too intense for us, but luckily we made it to the hut. The view and the feeling of being at the foot of the Matterhorn made up for our efforts. I only stayed there for lunch. Nice restaurant from the outside with a great view. Staff was friendly too. But the hash browns didn't work at all, sorry. From above they had just a bit of a crust, but underneath everything was raw/undercooked. The fried egg and the homemade iced tea, however, were good. I also read some reviews about good Rösti here. Maybe the chef just had a bad day today. In any case, the people sitting next to me didn't finish their Rösti either. It's a shame, especially for foreign tourists who may be eating Rösti for the first time in their lives, to be so disappointed. In any case, I can't recommend the Rösti and of course I was disappointed.

One of the best mountain huts I've been in. It's equivalent to a average 3 star hotel but you have to sleep in bunks. There is a shower and the blankets are real blankets not rags. Wifi is frer and can load 1080p videos and there is 5g connection in most places in the hut. Overall it's very good for a mountain hut.

And it's world class, especially in this weather! The path is very steep in parts and quite exposed in several places. There are always flat passages where you can breathe deeply, as well as two or three very special passages that can be a challenge for those who are not free from vertigo. However, all places are extremely well secured, there is no danger anywhere for those who pay attention. Conclusion: If you are an experienced hiker who is in good shape, has appropriate equipment with you (shoes!!!) and, above all, uses stable weather (I can't imagine it being so bad when it's foggy), it's doable.
