Very great experience. High occupancy, so a reservation is highly recommended. Very nice staff.

As always, the food, ambience and service were excellent. This time we visited the old Schmitte during the Thai Kitchen theme evening - what a lovely experience. The selection at the buffet was large and the presentation of the dishes was a feast for the eyes.

For me this was a bit of a surprise in a sleepy village like Steffisburg. It really was an old forge or a blacksmith's workshop, and some of the equipment is still there. The place is dominated by their love of coffee, in all its forms from the bean bags upwards to some very loveable coffee cups in a variety of colours. A very relaxing place to be with some friendly female staff.

The Alte Schmitte in Steffisburg offers a pleasant and bright ambience, perfect for a relaxed brunch. The beautifully decorated brunch platter offered a diverse selection of regional products such as cheese and meat. The homemade iced tea was refreshing, but it would be appreciated if the orange juice was freshly squeezed. A little ham and fruit on the platter would make the experience even better. The prices are fair.

Rustic, cozy restaurant with a great ambience. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The break is recommended, be sure to reserve. Because the restaurant is usually full. Excellent coffee, can also be bought on site and taken away.

I drank a gin and tonic there recently and was impressed by its beauty. Everything was perfect right down to the last carbon dioxide leaf. I also felt incredibly comfortable otherwise. Brilliant staff. wonderful ambience, the most beautiful coffee in Bernerland, maybe even in the world.😊

Wonderful place!! The delicious breakfast: yogurt with granola and fruits and Nutella pancakes with banana. The place is very nice and the service is very attentive. The girl explained everything on the menu to us in English without any problems. If we return to Thun, we will repeat without a doubt!!

Last weekend we had breakfast with you. Basically everything was OK. We found it a bit strange that there were only 1.5 blueberries with the pancakes and that the bowl also saved on fruit. The big hit was when the bill came and we were allowed to pay a whole CHF 22 for 4 eggs. CHF 5.50 per egg (without anything, just the egg alone!), that's not possible! The extremely polite waitress was deeply shocked by the disproportionate price of the eggs. She was visibly uncomfortable issuing us such an invoice. Even though she couldn't help it, she had to accept all the inconvenience and apologize for it.

I went here with my work friend. We had lunch. The food I wanted was new to me. I said the same as my friend and we ate a vegan meal with curry sauce. It was the first time I ate this food. The food was delicious... The restaurant itself is very nice. The working people are also very good... May their hands be healthy....

Went there for Sunday brunch: friendly, friendly staff, great coffee and beautifully presented food! Rather more expensive but if you don't go every week it's ok :) I'll be happy to come back.

Overall a nice place that I visit every once in a while. But every time I do I can’t miss noticing how terribly loud it is - I wish they had better sound isolation!

A large coffee menu, but unfortunately I was told that they are, quote, "set up too small" to serve anything other than the standard type of coffee. However, this one was very tasty. There is also an absolute ban on smoking on the terrace, as they say for the sake of the neighbors. It's a shame that the well-being of the guests counts less than that of the neighbors. The service was very friendly and personable.

I expected a little more, so I was quite disappointed. Brunch à discretion too expensive... A coffee is not included in the price. The pancakes were dry, despite the maple syrup. The location is nice and cozy. The lady who served us wasn't that attentive, I wasn't looked at and asked what I would like to drink, then I ordered when she brought the coffees to my colleagues... What a shame.

A piece of homemade cake is very tasty but the price is too high...other than that everything is right

A local resident recommended this place to us to have a cup of delicious coffee and breakfast. And indeed, the coffee was amazing. As well as pastries and pancakes. I almost never order pancakes because the ones I've eaten have been either hard or something close to that. These pancakes melted in your mouth, they were weightless, tender and very tasty. The pastries were simple, tasty, and reminiscent of homemade ones. Special thanks to the staff. Very friendly, polite, modest girls. I would love to go to this cafe every day.

Irish Night is also an experience! Despite quite a lot of visitors, the atmosphere was extremely cozy and (in contrast to some other reviews) fast and super friendly service!

Unfortunately, this has already happened to me twice: I came in at nine in the morning and was told that all the tables were reserved. A no go for me if you apparently have to reserve a table the day before for a good coffee.

Food (brunch) was very good. The place was a bit cool and we were slightly freezing.

The time of 2 hours is a bit too short for a leisurely breakfast on Sunday. The heat was also at its limit. I observed a lot of guests with their jackets pulled over their knees or shoulders. A pity.

A slightly different brunch in a special environment. Schmitzmorge until enough was supper, service was very attentive. Gladly again.

The food is delicious, I had it on Friday December 2nd. took the lunch menu. And on Thursday December 1st the burger for dinner was also amazing.

Very cozy café, the service is courteous, warm and uncomplicated. Requests regarding plant milk or allergens will be taken into account. The pancakes, breakfast or bowls are great for an autumn breakfast in wet and cold weather.

The ambience was nice and the brunch platters were very tasty. But we waited 30 minutes before we could even order; that was only possible because we went to the counter ourselves. Afterwards we waited another 20 minutes for the drinks and again for the food. The plates are à discretion, but unfortunately the team was so unstaffed that it didn't really work and we had to wait forever. Most of the tables around us felt the same way and there was an impatient mood. Very unfortunate

Very good service and coffee. I was there at a busy time and with lots of people in the cafe there was of course a wait, but not longer than necessary. The staff was very quick, kind and paid attention to details. Have been there before and would definitely come back.

The breakfast was good. Unfortunately we have waited far too long for this. There were a lot of people in the room (sitting a bit cramped) and therefore loud.

A young team has created a cozy meeting place in this old village blacksmith shop with everything that went with it. The cafe has a few seats in front of the house and if you walk through the restaurant there are more tables in the back garden. The young employees were very friendly and cheerful when I visited. I recommend everyone to visit this house.

Super delicious breakfast! Served on a platter and also has VEGETARIAN option. We specially ordered pancakes and muesli. The cinnamon knots were particularly delicious. Definitely a great sport to feast on!

And there's only this much to say about the main attraction, the food - truly a culinary delight. 😋 Something else that might be worth mentioning is that it's difficult to get a seat inside without having made a reservation beforehand = reserve in advance 😅
