The other establishment was extremely inconvenient in terms of location as I was with my dog and had planned to go about my business on foot. My remonstrations with the manager elicited only some lame excuses. The establishment where he drove me was of a considerably lower category to what had appeared to be the Auberge de Founex. At that point I had no alternative but to stay where I was (no taxis available, I had my dog with me, and it was raining). My complaints the next morning were met with foul language and on my telling him I did not intend to pay the bill under the circumstances he threatened to call the police (I have the text messages to prove it). The bill was duly paid, of course, (CHF113) but, frankly, I do not think they deserved it. It is a scandal that in a high quality tourist destination such as the Lake Geneva area, in what is perceived to be the a very high end destination, establishments such as the Auberge de Founex are allowed to operate by the hotel associations and by the Commune authorities (the Auberge de Founex is signposted as Auberge Communal, I wonder if it is owned by the Municipal Authorities of Founex?), and totally unprofessional individuals allowed to manage hotels.
