Hike from the forest up the Bachtel to the restaurant. Surprised in the restaurant although it was well staffed, the service was fast and friendly and the quality of the food was great. Thanks.

Very friendly staff, The restaurant feels like a ski restaurant to me. It feels like a cave, the tables are far apart and there's nothing homely about it.

Big good portions. Fantastic panorama. My favorite at 1115 meters above sea level is the sausage and cheese salad.

We were in the restaurant for lunch on a sunny day. There were four of us and we were assigned a table. We had to organize the missing two chairs ourselves. The food came quickly and was good in quality and taste. The service was anything but good. We were served by a person in trainer pants and a hoodie who didn't speak any German. So we received the wrong drinks, no spices and the desserts we ordered. Surroundings: it was very icy and slippery - despite hiking boots and sticks it was not without danger. Unfortunately nothing was salted/split or shoveled. The maintenance obligation was not apparent to any extent - let's hope for good customer and accident insurance/liability insurance for the tenants.

It's a shame that the old charm will soon be lost due to the overall renovation. I hope the pictures on the brochure are brought to life in real life.

Great view. Large selection of delicious dishes. Friendly and helpful staff. At the back there is a children's playground and the tower with a maximum view in all directions. In the east Saentis, Churfirsten, towards the south the Glarus, Schwyz and Uri Alps, then also partly the Valais and Bernese Alps, and in the west then Jura and Laegern. More towards the northeast is the Feldberg in the Black Forest. There is an Alpine pointer on the viewing platform, which describes the panorama in detail.

An incredibly beautiful view, a fine and extensive selection from the kitchen and cellar, very attentive service, clean, well-kept ambience. We made reservations again straight away. Please note: no access by car is possible on Sundays and public holidays. On this day, the Bachtel-Kulm can only be reached on foot (from Wernetshausen or Hinwil-Girenbad)

A special experience on top of the mountain, view over the mountains is amazing. Be sure to take a walk there, it's worth it. The view is fantastic. Also a great restaurant, very friendly service, delicious food. Tip: Better reserve a table.

Unfortunately, the Bachtel Beiz only opened at 10 a.m. But the disappointment was limited when she saw the champagne bottles through the window. The restaurant appears to belong to SAC Bachtel. Sorry but I would rather have SAC Hütten Style and not Cüpli Trash. The only thing that bothered me was the neophytes on the terrace and the stones with the table numbers don't seem to be from the region either. Everything wannabe seems expensive. Since the change of ownership, our local sports activities such as hiking or biking on the local mountain have been ignored. These are obviously not that well known in Macedonia. I'm not even talking about the backpack regulations. The bike stand was removed and an order for sandwiches with cola at 11:00 a.m. was not answered at all. But it has to be covered in white! We stopped here after a long hike. We had a delicious sandwich and a fantastic cake "Torta della Nona". Since the very friendly waiter didn't speak any German, I was allowed to use my rudimentary knowledge of Italian. I wish the host couple a lot of perseverance. The only constant is change. You're doing really well.

Oh what a shame, since the new tenant took over the restaurant, the price-performance ratio is no longer right! You used to get a good portion (even for hungry people) at a good price. Today the prices are like in a luxury restaurant (although there is even self-service on Sundays) and the portions are much too small. I couldn't believe my eyes when it came to the mixed salad: 2-3 lettuce leaves (green and red) + a spoonful of cabbage lettuce hidden underneath for 12 francs!! It is no longer comparable to before and the previous tenant. We won't eat here anymore, it's a shame.

Very nice restaurant in a best location. It doesn't say anywhere that the small Coke costs 5.50, and when you wanted to pay by card, you were told, "Twint better." So you twint 5.50 to a private cell phone number and ask yourself whether the prices are really right or whether you've just been ripped off. A pity.

The atmosphere was great at the top of the mountain, but the food did seem a little overly expensive. Ques were long for the Swiss holiday (Thursday) it was, but it was convenient to see outdoor and indoor customers served separately (can get overcrowded inside)

I always had the pleasure of visiting the Bachtel-Kulm panoramic restaurant in Wernetshausen. Whether in winter for a cozy fondue meal with family and friends, or in summer after a wonderful motorcycle tour to enjoy the view with a cool drink or a fine cup of coffee. The restaurant is furnished with great attention to detail and offers a pleasant atmosphere. It has both a stylish interior and a charming outdoor terrace that invites you to admire the breathtaking views. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes every meal a special experience. Whether you choose the delicious Chässpätzli, the Züri Gschnätslets or the vegan Cordon Bleu, every dish is a delight. And don’t forget to try the homemade tiramisu – a real highlight! The new management since the beginning of the year has done a remarkable job, both in terms of decoration and service. Their hospitality immediately makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Overall, the Bachtel-Kulm panoramic restaurant is a real pleasure, both in terms of the food and the ambience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We just treated ourselves to some ice cream. CHF 9.00 for a portion with two scoops without any “accessories” is expensive. For a family with children, such trips are pure luxury. The space outside is rather modest. What remains when visibility is good is the sensational panoramic view!

I enjoyed visiting the Bachtel and restaurant often. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. It's a shame that simple hikers are no longer welcome.

We are sooo disappointed, it's completely closed on Sunday :-(((. We like to walk from home, have about 1.5 to 2 hours and then sooo something. We'll look for a new destination.

Good Swiss cuisine and great ambience

On a Sunday, this lovely excursion restaurant was already closed at 2 p.m. We stood in front of the closed door. I find this a real shame, especially on Sundays when many guests visit the Bachtel. There was also nothing on the homepage that said this restaurant closes at 2:00 p.m. So there is room for improvement here.

The food & presentation are good, as are the service & view. However, for those who have an appetite, for example who have walked to the Bachtel, the portions are around 3 times too small and the prices are on the high side. You'll be asked if you've had enough, but if you ask for more, it won't be answered. It would be nice if there were options here. It's understandable to some extent that hiking poles, backpacks, wet dogs... are not welcome in the restaurant, but there are just too many prohibition signs. That's not exactly customer friendly. The question is how to communicate this correctly and make it “palatable” to the guests...?

On Easter Monday, no service on the terrace and only 1 man at the counter. Children run all over the kitchen and you wait an incredibly long time until it's finally your turn to place your order. The waiter is completely overwhelmed.

On Saturday, February 25th, we celebrated my wife's 60th birthday in the Bachtel Kulm restaurant with around 40 guests. About half of the guests hiked up from the bunny rope. That means we weren't a chic society. - Stylish, cozy atmosphere, professional service, fine food and good wine. There was also a great view when the rain clouds had cleared. Our guests felt very comfortable. And so do we. Many thanks to the Bachtel Kulm team :-).

A really lovely restaurant with a beautiful view. You can even make it a little hike and park down below like we did.

We couldn't even eat a little something on the terrace today. We would have brought the food out ourselves if serving outside was such a problem. Ok...the service really leaves a lot to be desired. There are still enough restaurants with terraces in the area where you are welcome. A pity!!

One man's bad luck is another man's luck. The Alp Scheidegg is being rebuilt and the whole crew is now at work on the Bachtel. Not only was the staff taken along, but also the quality. Starting with the food, which tasted excellent, to the very friendly and competent service. I particularly recommend the lemon almond cake, it's phenomenal and pretty accurate.

When the weather is nice, the garden restaurant has a great view. Beef tartare, tuna salad, great!

Never again ! If you prefer to go fancy, then the service needs to be even better! A trip to a place where business is done like that can't be a good thing. Wait 30 minutes until you can order and then wait 10 minutes until the drink comes 😡. Hikers are not welcome at all. Luckily there is still the Bachtel Ranch.

Found it because of the article in Tele Züri. Nice restaurant, service takes some getting used to, no chips, no nut croissants. The kitchen is closed at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday... If you want to go up a bit because of the snow, comfortable is different in my opinion

Unfortunately, since the change of ownership, hearts have been hanging on the window - where we previously experienced very warm service. Despite the high prices, you can no longer get small meals if you're hungry, but the prices have become very high and the billing is stingy (because of the expenses, we are told, you can no longer pay for coffee with cake with standard cards). ... Looking for upscale clientele. OK. But the ambience seems more old-fashioned than noble and really doesn't fit this strategy.

Poor minimal offer in the morning, too expensive, unfriendly and problems paying with card. It used to be much better. Fancy micki is not in demand here on the Bachtel, but rather down-to-earth things. Too bad, not like that!

I have been to Bachtel Kulm countless times since 1977. And now a landlord comes and wants to banish the guests' luggage outside. I carry two pieces of luggage up there, which are never large. But still - sometimes it would be better if the landlord stayed outside.

Everything is fine, bravo keep it up. It's unbelievable what problems some people have - in my opinion it's part of decency and respect to leave backpacks and hiking equipment outside or in the cloakroom and to accept the rules of the house. It's better if such Bünzlis don't enter the inn anyway, pack a picnic in your backpack and eat under the Bachtelturm. Then you can clear your head and think about your dissatisfaction.

We were in the restaurant in mid-January, 2-3 weeks after the new tenant took over the Bachtel restaurant... We read about the wardrobe regime in the local press. We thought it was a good idea to give away (larger) backpacks and hiking poles. This leaves space unhindered between the tables to serve all guests. About the restaurant / service: Elegant, it remains a matter of opinion whether it is too elegant for a mountain restaurant and normal hikers. Schicki Micki as already written here, we didn't find it. In addition, the service is very friendly Price-performance ratio: The plate of cheese spaetzle is of good quality, but the portion is smaller compared to the previous tenant and therefore the price is on the higher side!! The same applies to the drinks, a cappuccino for Fr. 6.00... also relatively upper price segment. What stood out: drink prices were nowhere on the menu. I can't judge whether this was intentional or unintentional... Now that we know the prices, next time we might just have 1 drink. . . . The small portion of vermicelle was great and considering the quantity, it was well priced! Speed ​​of operation: The restaurant was busy, not rehearsal (it was also cloudy weather). We never really had to wait long, except for the dessert menu... and I think it should be brought straight away upon request (after all, it doesn't have to be cooked first) Conclusion: There is still room for improvement, especially in terms of the portion size of the food and the prices in general Since it is our local mountain, we will definitely come back and report on any changes

We were also served very politely with outdoor clothing, not fancy, just elegant. Hiking gear in the cloakroom is ok for understandable reasons.

I've never been to them before but I'll do so, I was at home in Ireland for 19 years. I saw the show on TV. What kind of people are they who want to go to a nice restaurant with sticks and a backpack. It's great to leave everything in the cloakroom so that everyone can get to the table without obstacles. Oh what happened to the Bachtel? Since the new tenant, we hikers are no longer welcome! Just chic Micki with wine goblets on the table. If you come as a wanderer, you will be transplanted into the farthest corners, even though everything is empty. It gets even worse if you come with your dog: stay outside!!! But luckily there is the Bachtel Ranch 15 minutes away, where dogs and hikers are also welcome 🙏

A new owner has taken over the restaurant since the beginning of the year. When you enter the restaurant, you immediately notice the lovingly newly decorated interior. The new landlord is extremely nice without pandering and creates a pleasant atmosphere that makes us want to come back.

The wonderful view of Lake Zurich is priceless. The restaurant itself is very well maintained and nicely decorated. Unfortunately the food is below average. The house dressing for the salad is very delicious. The cheese in the pork cordon bleu wasn't melted, the fries were over-seasoned, the vegetables were so overcooked that they could almost be considered pureed. Despite asking, we never got the dessert menu. Unfortunately the service was bad. The plates were only cleared away angrily after half an hour when we asked politely. The waiting times were long. And no, there wasn't much to do! Except for the young guy (who was good), the other service men deliberately looked the other way; They can overlook idle times and guests. It's a shame about the great interior and the great view. My recommendation: enjoy the view with a coffee in the afternoon.

I went to the Bachtel Kulm restaurant with someone in a wheelchair and two people with disabilities. We sit down, settle in and choose an ice cream. After waiting for a while, someone comes and asks: "Do you have a driving permit?" (To this day I have often been there with people with disabilities and the disabled person's ID card in the car was enough, because yes, otherwise you need a permit on Sundays and public holidays.) I'll answer here and point to the wheelchair. That is not enough. I say, OK, I'll pay the fine. But we only get dirty looks and are no longer served. I never really had the feeling that I was welcome with people with disabilities, which has now been confirmed to me. I take this really personally and find this kind of shameful in this day and age. These people could at least have said where such a permit could be obtained.

A wonderful restaurant. Definitely recommended for people who enjoy hiking and who want to enjoy delicious food with the great view.
