Food very good, but work seems to be done elsewhere efficiently. I really don't understand why there are only two people at 9 on a Sunday and one of them is preparing orders.

You want to buy and taste everything they have!!! and whatever you finally buy is soooo yummy! A gem you will not regret visiting

Although it was small and narrow, it was nice to be able to see the kitchen where people were making their own food and it was cozy. The coffee was soso, but all the breads I ate were delicious!! I had a nice rest in a delicious and quiet neighborhood while stopping by Basel :) #Haselnusscroissant #Zimtschnecke 👍🏻❤️

Simply great! We went to the Kult bakery and were thrilled. The croissant was perfectly crispy and buttery at the same time. The dough Easter bunny was not only an eye-catcher, but also a hit in terms of taste. And the apple caramel swirl? A dream! Sweet, sour and the caramel – brilliant. For everyone who appreciates the special art of baking: you've come to the right place. Super tasty, absolutely recommended!

Tasty pastries and espresso. Conveniently located near the Rhine, which makes a lovely place to sit and eat them. The pretzel buns with frischkäse (cream cheese) were a nice compliment to the sweet pastries.

This is one of the top bakeries in Basel. Quality of bakery is really good. Prices are a bit higher than other bakeries but ok. There are two locations… the ‘bigger’ one (St. Johann) has more seating possibilities but still the queue for ordering is long (in the summer it goes around the corner) So I give the place 3 stars because even though quality is top, service is not the best but overall the whole concept of ordering/serving is a complete mess. The people who order for take away make the same queue as the ones ordering for consuming at the place. you can loose 40 min of time until it is your turn and if you forgot one thing or want to have one croissant more you need to re-do a 40min queue. on top of that , after paying such high prices you need to clean up the table yourself and that is not just putting the tray back but each thing back in boxes and trash too. For the prices you pay this is too much to ask. So, hope someone advices them to improve the bottleneck they have in their ordering/serving as due to that my cappuccino was also cold. Great quality, room for improvement!

Today I went to the cult for the first time, inspired by the great video clip with singing on YouTube. I am completely thrilled. Here the name is basically “law”. A small bakery shop where I immediately felt at home. Small and extremely fine. I wish there were more bakeries like this. The quality of the baked goods is sensational! I've tried a few things - unfortunately far too little. It's a shame that I don't live in Basel. But if I come here again I will definitely “stop” here again☺️😋😋😋😋👍👍👍 I forgot to take photos… the baked goods were just too delicious and wanted to be eaten😂

Excellent spot for a coffee and a pastry. We LOVED the pretzel buns with ham. The chocolate croissant and cappuccinos were great as well. Very friendly staff who accommodated our english.

Simply very fine baked goods, all traditionally made by hand; The breads are also made with sourdough and long cooking, which you can easily taste in the bread and has a very good effect on the shelf life. Nevertheless, there are always innovations - you're not old-fashioned - and they have a fresh business image, and the young staff are always very friendly. A definitely different bakery that fits perfectly into the neighborhood.

Those glossy, fluffy, creamy, yet dense white peaks. The flat white was also delicious. They obviously know what they are doing here :)

We had heard a lot of good things about this bakery. Unfortunately, the cake was far dry and the tea tasted like soap. All of this for a lot of money! We also asked ourselves whether a smile from the waitress would cost extra. Update: Bakery Kult has apologized with a voucher. It made me feel taken seriously. That's why I adjusted my rating from 1 to 4 stars.

Great bakery. There is usually a wait. But not too bad, and definitely because it's such great quality.

Very uncomfortable situation in this pseudo fancy bakery. I went inside this bakery to buy 3 croissants. The price of each was 2 francs. I paid in cash with a 50 francs bill and received change 23 francs. I returned to claim the remaining change. The employee to not assume the mistake of being cheating customers, said he trusted me and gave me back a 20 francs bill. I didn’t mentioned that was still missing 1 franc to see where this episode would end. If I bought 3 croissants for the price of 2 francs and paid with a 50 francs bill the correct change would be 44 francs not 43. I didn’t complain again, I wanted to confirm the lack of professionalism. In the end, these kind of people still put the blame on our side. With such expensive prices, they should put more responsible people in front of the counter. If every day they still 1 franc in the end of the year they would have a great profit. Leaving aside these huge mistakes that many people don’t come back to complain about.

I am a frequent client at this bakery and their products are always delicious. However, today they had a badly cooked batch of croissants which they still sold, and at the usual price. I found it quite dissapointing and unprofessional.

Great bakery with a large selection and quality that is absolutely top class. The Lenten wafers have an excellent taste. Currently the best in the region for me. The service is very friendly and can't be bothered, even if the small room is full of customers. Great👍

Lovely place for breakfast, both sweet and savory pastries are excellent. Expect a little bit of queue for ordering as they also sell bread and coffee to go.

Excellent quality but at very high prices. There is a really large selection of sweet baked goods and bread. Definitely the best baker in Basel and a “must go” for bakery lovers! However, you should plan to wait, especially on weekends the queue in front of the bakery is very long because it is so popular. What I also think is great are the various collaborations, such as with the Mövenpick Hotel, where there is a very tasty sourdough bread as a starter.

Products, specially backery, is delicious. Staff is nice. I would recommend only for take away though. The place is small and the “to stay” rates seemed a little bit overpriced.

One of the best bakeries you can find in Basel. If you want to treat yourself for a special breakfast, get a croissant or any pastry you love to go, walk a few meters down to the river and enjoy a beautiful sunset with great food and coffee!

My favorite bakery in Basel. There are two branches, the offering is pretty much the same. The bakery is also open on Sundays, so you usually have to wait in line for a few minutes to get there. In addition to great bread, there is also a variety of salty and sweet pastries and there is also coffee. The price is rather high, but the quality is top. Can highly recommend the cult bakery.

1st class baked goods at fair prices

Great products ! I love their zopff (brioche) and wasserbrot (white bread). Very friendly and helpful staff. There is pretty much always a queue, there is a reason for that 🤤

For croissant fans: + Better than the rest in Basel and better than the swiss standards for croissant suggest (which is low standards for whoever might not know). - It's NOT the super high quality croissant that you will find just across the French border in St. Louis. It's probably half-way *It's soft and kind of buttery....but not really crunchy. For the rest of the pastry, you're gonna have to find out for yourself. It looks good though!

The two star review may be misleading. The food and coffee at this Backerei / Bakery is top notch. But what would have been 5-stars was brought down to 2 due to the attitude of the staff. Today was my second day visiting Kult and the two ladies working here today were worse than the other two who were here yesterday. So this is not a personnel issue but a culture issue. Some warmth and a smile would be nice-to-have but not must-have so I will not judge them these. However they seem to go out of their way to be curt, rude and unhelpful. And God forbid if you ask them a question! The owner really should have a chat with his employees and ensure all customers are treated equally and made to feel welcome. They work in the hospitality industry and just serving good food is not enough. Not to mention the importance of behaving the right way with each other.

Every time I come to Basel I get a bread roll here. Super fries bread and a good selection. The bakery itself is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly.

The website says you can order by phone in the afternoon. Not true. You have to call and then send an email because you're not willing to write down the customer's email address. It's too stupid for me. Not recommendable.

Because of the many positive reviews, I was actually really looking forward to my visit here. However, I was disappointed because the bakery is unfortunately so small that it doesn't invite you to eat and enjoy. Above all, the cinnamon roll and the mini sandwich were so dry (and unfortunately extremely expensive for dry-to-go) that the pretty decor and concept didn't make up for much...

Discovered by chance and very happy about it. A sweet bakery that looks beautiful inside and out, has a great selection of bread and pastries and is definitely value for money. The best thing: you can simply get something to take away and be on the Rhine in just a few minutes and can eat there with a fantastic view 🤗

Great little bakery between the exhibition center and the Rhine. Very fine range of savory and sweet biscuits. The cinnamon buns are awesome, as is the pizza roll. Rather quiet on a Thursday afternoon, card payment possible. Friendly service, the products are prepared right in the bakery next door. I paid 10.50 francs for 3 products.

Best bakery in Basel and the surrounding area! 1. Quality: Top ingredients are used here without compromise and hardly anything is purchased from bakery suppliers. You can taste it - I don't know of any bakery that produces better quality. I regularly have to take a long journey to get there. 2. Selection: the selection is huge and everyone will find something. My personal highlights are the water bread, sourdough bread, the sandwiches and the granola. 3. Location: a very nice shop, everything is clean with an atmosphere of yesteryear (meant in a positive sense!). 4. Price-performance: Quality has its price - if you're looking for something cheap, I'd be better off at the bakery chains. 5. Friendliness: this is where the 5-star rating is lost. I don't know if it's just me, but as a non-hipster with a station wagon and a suburban apartment, I just can't warm up there - somehow I don't feel like I'm seen as a customer, but rather as someone who's just being sold bread. I hear that from some quarters... but it's not that the staff are unfriendly - there's just a certain amount of warmth missing. All in all: an absolute must and I hope cult goes from cult to legend.

A nice bakery that I like to shop at. It clearly stands out from supermarkets with its quality, variety and handcraft. If it were possible to deduct half a star, I would do so for the sandwiches. They “felt” a little more busy before. But overall the goods are worth their price.

I love this place. The best backers in town. On The weekends they make bagel sandwiches. You have an option of vegetarian or meat. Super good. However, the bagel is not a New York bagel but still delicious. 😜👍

Fresh bread on Sundays. Priceless

The food there is always very fresh. There are fresh drinks, breads, and so on. The cult bakery has very nice employees. Of course, credit cards are also accepted. Great for a stop after a walk to enjoy a nice, fresh, crispy croissant.

Such a lovely and amazing place. First It looks adorable and the baked goods are always on point. They always have new experimental tastes of quiches and the croissants with almonds are amazing two! With my coworkers we like to get some pastries and go eat them at the river. Either if you are a local or a tourist you should give It a try!

Have been here around 5 times now. The first two times I thought everything was very tasty: good coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The next few times everything was a bit stale. For the high prices charged, I would expect better.

The baked goods are tasty, but in both stores people touch them with bare hands, even if the employee had money in their hands beforehand. I find this very disrespectful to the customer. In the Kult branch you will be used without asking. Will visit other bakeries in the future.

A small, old-style bakery. At the front there is a small narrow shop with a few seats for coffee, beer and more. Directly adjacent and visible is the tube-like bakery where every night, according to old tradition, bread is kneaded from long-ripened dough and baked in the old oven. Makes super fine breads.

This bakery is amazing! So many breads, pastries and cakes t choose from. Please note, the place is tiny with 3 small tables inside and no a/c. A few tables outside. I had a cafe latte (good coffee) and an excellent pastry wirh lemon, raspberry and coconut, 10CHF.

THE best bakery in town. Period. Go check it out yourself and make sure to try every single one of their classic or a little more experimental breads and pastries. They make a perfect baguette and if you have some time left, take a coffee and ask the friendly staff about the heritage and history of kult in Basel.

I can't recommend it at all! Went there and my wife's cake was bland, my sandwich was super dry and I couldn't finish it. Yesterday's bread is no longer edible today. Dear people, take a few more meters and buy fresh products in the area but not at Kult!

Found this shop last day of my break from England. I am latose intolerant, plus type 2 diabetes. So just bought some bread rolls. They were the best I'd ever tasted. Thank you.I shall be visiting again end of November and shall be calling at this Bakery every day!. Also. Staff very nice.
