Anyone who loves regional products has come to the right place: rye and grape seed specialties are available all year round. Various other products are freshly and sustainably produced in the bakery using traditional craftsmanship. My favorites are the various freshly baked breads, which you should order in advance. These can be stored in the fridge or, of course, in the freezer for a few days and then baked briefly. The great thing about it, however, is that the baked bread stays absolutely fresh for several days. A blessing for couples who don't want to shop every day, as emergency supplies when visiting or for alpine hut owners who often live in remote areas. It's worth a visit!

We wanted to do the Giro d Italia and enjoy breakfast in Susten beforehand. The campsite owner recommended Mathieu Bakery to us. We enjoyed the bakery breakfast there. Weggli and croissants with heavenly fine raw ham and spicy cheese. Everything was great. The service was also very friendly. You can sit inside in the café, which has lots of glass, or at the tables outside. Thank you for such a dedicated baker.

Nice bakery with some interesting products, very business-minded, almost a little too pushy and busy with trying to convince customers about their grape seed products. The product selection and prices are much better in the neighboring Turtmann near Moreillon. Tip: if you are already in Susten, drive straight on to Turtmann, to the best bakery in Valais with the most charming, warmest saleswomen! :-)

Family owned bakery with a very good value for money proposition for breakfast. The reason it gets 4 stars is that the breakfast offers are mostly based on sweet pastries and jams. Service is ok Parking is available close by

Very unfriendly boss! We wanted to pay but the boss started arguing about the tip and said that they have a shared fund (which is not distributed fairly, according to the employee). The friendly employees receive nothing! It's just sad that you annoy the customers and then start shouting with the employees.

Great rye bread our first stop when we are in Valais

I normally buy grape flour pastries here. But recently, the bakery has started to offer a take away menu once a week - always on Tuesdays. Today I decided to try. The take away menu includes a salad, main course and dessert. All for CHF 17.- I must say that the burger was really tasty as well as the roasted potatoes. Unfortunately, nowhere was a notification about, that the salad and cocoa biscuit contain nuts. This wasn't communicated to me when I took the menu either. However, as an allergy sufferer, this is vital information for me! Because of this, I deduct one star from the rating.

Bread very good. 🙂 BUT the serving staff... scatterbrained, unfocused, unkempt. But friendly. Served without masks.

The waitresses forgot the smile and the cordiality at home. We don't feel welcome... 2 adults and 1 child: we were entitled to 2 drinks in the breakfast, but we only consumed 1, and when paying she told me that the pizza which was rated a 8.20 on the ticket in reality costs 8.50, so she makes me pay the additional 30 cents... if we thought about leaving a very small tip, with this stingy and not at all commercial action, they not only lost 3 customers but also made themselves ridiculous! Too bad: the quality/price ratio was interesting.

From bread to cakes and even pattisserie, all products are of absolutely excellent quality. Condition in the Tea Room and The bakery is very accommodating and makes every effort to ensure the well-being of the guests. You feel comfortable here. I can only recommend a visit.
