I have been a fan of this restaurant since Emma was founded and go by regularly to eat or drink coffee. As a vegetarian/vegan, I always have a choice of different dishes, which I am grateful for, as it is sometimes not easy to eat vegetarian/vegan in Winterthur. A cozy, familiar atmosphere, whether inside or outside, rounds off the experience at Emma. My thanks also go to the friendly and uncomplicated staff, who are always so busy at Emma, ​​have a chat with me and make me happy with their culinary delights. Since I live in Winterthur myself, I haven't stayed in the hotel yet. However, the rooms look very nice.

On Thursday evening we spontaneously asked whether an aperitif could be organized for our civil wedding (5 people) on Saturday. Barbara and her team organized two wonderful and sensational aperitif platters and drinks for us and set a lovely table. The positive first: The location would be really nice. But then we unfortunately had to experience that after a long wait our coffee was still not served and guests who arrived later were served first. When we asked inside, we received a snippy answer that it hadn't been that long. If I hadn't paid for the coffee yet, I would have left already. Mind you: there wasn't much going on and it's a mystery to me why it takes so long to make two coffees when there's so little activity. Anyone who has ever bought takeaway coffee knows how quickly it can happen. When the older colleague finally served the coffee and didn't say a word about being late or giving preference to other guests, we talked about it again. Again we were shouted at in annoyance, yes, that could happen, we're terribly sorry (irony). It's unbelievable that you can so miss two simple jobs like making coffee and being friendly (yes, that's just part of the job). And then both women together... you can see what kind of mentality there must be in this company. It's a shame, I already gave the tip when I ordered. They don't deserve it. Well, if you don't need the guests, you can probably do without them. We will never go there again and will not recommend it to anyone. PS: the coffee was as sour as the grumpy ladies.

We stayed 3N at this cozy accomodation from June 20-23. Barbara checked us in and both she and her daughter were most welcoming and friendly throughout our stay esp when we had some questions. Everything was prepared in the 2 rooms and the premises were very clean. We had the double room on the 1F (one flight of stairs) and the attic at the top (2 flights of stairs). This may be an issue for some who have to bring large suitcases up and down as there is no lift. Thankfully we managed. For those who are tall, it’s best to avoid the attic room as you are likely to knock your head on the sharp lower angled ceiling in some places. There is a fridge, a very small safe, good supply of coffee and tea sachets. Cups, spoons, plates and cutlery on the desk. Adequate lamps to light up the room giving it a cozy ambience. There is no aircon and they provided a fan. It was around 20-27 degrees during our stay and it can get a little warm if there is no wind. The windows can be opened and faces the garden so no issue with noise unless the guests in the garden room on the ground floor talk loudly when they are in the garden. We like the security and arrangement of the keys when going out and returning - in case they are closed when we get back. Tip: when using the ROOM key to open or lock the door from the outside, give the door handle a gentle pull towards you before turning the key. This helps with the alignment of the door. We didnt have enough time to eat at the cafe but had their cold chai latte which was very refreshing and the cheesecake is worth having. Such a quaint little place. It’s a 12min flat walk from the train station to EMMA but it’s an unsheltered walk. During checkout, we chose to take the bus to the station on the checkout day as we had larger suitcases. The bus stop on Stadhaus is just a 5min walk and there are around 4 buses that go to the station - 2nd stop which takes around 4 mins. Make sure you cross the road when taking the bus at Stadhaus for the right direction to the station. Thankfully the rain stopped before we checked out as we still had to walk to the bus stop. EMMA is a cozy little place, the rooms and bathrooms are spacious enough - the whole vibe in the area of Oberer Graben is wonderful. The team running the accomodation and cafe is absolutely wonderful. Thank you. We hope to stay here again when we visit Switzerland in Nov for the Christmas market.

Äusserst charmante Unterkunft mit nur drei Zimmern. Sehr freundliches Personal! Super easy checkin und checkout. Das Zimmer im Erdgeschoss ist gross und hat ein sehr bequemes memory foam Bett. Dazu gibts einen grossen romantischen Garten! Sehr ruhige und zentrale Lage in der Altstadt. Falls ich wieder mal in Winterthur bin: sicher wieder Emma!

Wunderschönes Kaffee in der Altstadt, ich war mit meiner Freundin an einem sonnigen Nachmittag dort. Die spezielle Getränkekarte mit lokalen Produkten hat uns gefallen und überzeugt. Das Stück Kuchen war deliziös! :-) Wir werden wieder kommen!

Das Café ist super gelegen und bietet wunderbar sonnige Aussensitzplätze, aber auch das Interieur ist mega nett und anmächelig.
