Balz in Basel

Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the club because the bouncer thinks she has to compensate for her supposed minority complexes with unfriendly behavior towards potential guests. I'd rather stay outside. Now I remember why I haven't been to any clubs for so long.

The first obstacle begins as soon as you enter. To have a chance of getting in, you either have to know someone who works there or come as a man with at least 2 women per person. If you're unlucky, they'll find a reason not to let you in. Once you make it inside, you'll find overpriced drinks and a stuffy atmosphere. As a man you don't feel welcome in this restaurant.

Top club really one of the best in the whole city, cool music and 2 different rooms with 2 different DJs. Great location, even for people who come by car, there is a parking garage 30 seconds ahead. Very spacious and clean 👍

Great party option, even on Thursday. Always well looked after. Free entry (for those who don't want to spend that much), but first-class techno room and main floor with hits and Latin American beats. Very welcoming environment with university vibe with bookshelves. Also very nice people, I can only recommend them.

Great on Thursday evening for the student exit and you see a lot of familiar faces. It's a shame that the new lockers only open once. If you forget something inside or it closes, you have to find an employee to get your things out.

I wanted to bring to your attention a concerning issue involving my friend. Regrettably, he has been denied entry to the Balz club multiple times without a clear explanation. We're beginning to worry that this might be due to racial bias from the club's staff.

I think it's a nice place but the bouncers are a bit weird. I don't wanna generalize, I think some bouncers were really cool but there was one female who was interrogating me and my friend to figure out if we really know each other. That was really awkward. I kinda understand that it is the only place in her life where she feels powerful and she wants enjoy it but it's still sad. If you are indian or middle eastern you have to be with a partner. A gay couple might be problematic. If you have a European look you might enter without any women. But it really depends on how the bouncers feel like and how cute/rich you look. Don't be upset if you don't make it. Go to soho or somewhere else.

Woman at the door is bad (as in other reviews), she is very subjective and moody. Music is boring, but becomes bearable as the alcohol level increases. Age group is 30. Overall: not modern, boring.

Such a kindergarten. The average age in the club feels like U23 and all the Instakids are present. All the alcohol doesn't help, I have to get out - it's a shame that I have to wait in line of +50 people to get my coat back. I won't come back and won't recommend it to anyone. Bad music, free price - at least nothing was lost. But that was all.

We played at the Töggelikakasten when the club wanted to close. We wanted to finish this round shortly. However, we had no chance, we had to leave immediately. It's a shame we couldn't talk to Securitas. There was no discussion for him. Otherwise, I think the club is great for student parties. Was fun. I also think the 2 for 1 offer at the bar is great. The music was also typical and satisfying. For the top costs, each individual item of clothing is counted separately, even if it is in front of the same person. Was there with a friend, but the bouncer or bouncers (probably muscular Albanian citizens with a lot of brains) weren't very welcoming and the club isn't necessarily that either. From my point of view it's a little bit down.

I would prefer not to give a star at all. This goes to the bouncer and the lady who checks IDs. Unfortunately, I was faced with their unmotivated, arrogant, unfriendly and unprofessional attitude. When it was our turn, I was greeted by the lady who clearly didn't want to do her job. Her unmotivated attitude was immediately noticeable. The arrogance was also obvious. We didn't have any ID with us and just wanted to ask if an ID photo was enough. I couldn't even make excuses and they wanted to throw us out straight away. She seemed to enjoy exercising her perceived power over the guests and intentionally humiliating me. Since I asked again what the problem was, she imitated me (I was arrogant and should apologize, this was still requested). It makes me wonder which of us are the adults. The rudeness of the bouncer was another aspect that negatively affected my experience. Instead of treating me politely and answering my questions, I was met with ignorance and disinterest. It seemed like he enjoyed upsetting guests and making them feel unwanted. This unfriendly attitude was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. In addition to all of this, the bouncer's lack of professionalism was obvious. His behavior was far from what you would expect from a bouncer. He seemed to have no idea about the basic rules of customer service and ignored the fact that he represented the face of Balz. His unprofessional attitude was disappointing and left a bitter taste. It is unfortunate that such individuals are in a position where they can influence the guest experience. I hope that management takes this matter seriously and takes measures to ensure such incidents are avoided in the future.

Unfortunately the music wasn't really good, there weren't many people there, but it was free :)

On 23 july 2024( 02.00 am ), I have hanged out with my friends and the girl door did not let us in the club , moreover , she did not give any information about that why we could not get in , however she did let another group in the club . It is so sad to face kind of this situation. 👎🏻 such a lame. I am so sick of this.

We have been visiting the Balz Club almost every Thursday for 4 years. Today we were banned from entering because we finished our drinks in front of the club. There were 4 of us (3 women, 1 man, all with student ID). We haven't had any problems for 4 years, today there was a new bouncer and we were denied entry to the club for no reason. We definitely won't be coming back.

I've been courting for 4 years and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I think it was a new bouncer. We wanted to go in on Thursday (student party) and the bouncer told me and a colleague that we weren't allowed into the courtship because we looked too drunk. We all had student ID cards, but he didn't seem to care. There were 4 of us (3 girls and a guy). He said the other two girls were allowed into the courtship. I (Asian) and him (dark-skinned) weren't allowed in, but the others were. Racial profiling???? I don't think it's ok. You've lost a regular customer and I'll never court again.

You really need to get rid of the bald security guy. He is disrespectful, anti-social and ruins any mood. Terrible guy, I have no idea why he does this job!

Very indecent woman at the entrance wanted to go into the club with a colleague and we were told that groups of men were no longer allowed in. I find that really disrespectful.

I simply found the requirement to be accompanied by a woman to enter the establishment absurd. You don't need to pay any Swiss francs. The ticket is a woman!!! Ridiculous!!! And the security guard at the entrance was very rude and impolite. He said he was Turkish, but people from Turkey are not rude like him!

This Friday I was served by a lady and for the first time I didn't come to the club sober, she didn't want to tell me the reason. When I asked, she said if someone argues they are drunk. What does this mean? Very bad service upon entry!!!!

For the first time, on May 5, 2023, I was served by a woman when I entered and for the first time I wasn't let in because a friend of mine had a cell phone in his hand. I can't understand. Afterwards she claimed that one of my colleagues wasn't quite attending, even though he came straight from work. Not recommended!

From my point of view, a very arrogant and disrespectful woman at the door!! It was my daughter's birthday (turned 22) We wanted to go to the club with her. She had 7 friends with her and 3 male colleagues and I and my wife. My wife and I were at the ATM briefly and arrived about 4-5 minutes later. My daughter already went in. Me and my wife couldn't get in, the woman at the door said "You're too old, sorry, you can leave again"! (Woman 41 and 46) Is that too old for you? Are you no longer allowed to toast with your daughter? When I politely asked for the boss, a bouncer came and very aggressively wanted to send me away (a slightly younger bouncer) and we left without any discussions. Of course my daughter and her friends went too. When I was waiting for my daughter, I saw a lot of negative things from the bouncers and the woman at the door. It's a shame but something like this is not recommended!!

The Balz Club in Basel is a great club. It is very easy to reach directly from the Steinen car park. The bouncers are all super nice, as are the bar staff in the club itself. The jacket drop-off is super quick and nothing stands in the way of unforgettable courtship nights.

In principle, I've never had a big problem in courtship until recently when an old bouncer made misogynistic statements to my girlfriend and thought that was okay.

In my opinion the best club in Basel. The prices are totally reasonable by Swiss standards and entry is even free. The two dance floors are best: if you feel like techno/house, you can go to the back room, there's always a mix playing on the main floor. All in all, the club is a great place to party, and the shows that run during the week are also worth seeing!

Nice Music. Young crowd. 2 main rooms, Big room mostly plays hip-hop and charts while the other room is for electro lovers. Generally well filled on weekends. If you want to chill a bit in between, small place upstairs with a bar can be useful. Limited variety of drinks at downstair bars but considering they open so late any drink is fine at that time.

Well, the club is okay, but the dressing room does what it wants. My jacket was allowed to change hands. I paid for them to keep it, showed my number and was kicked out of the “club” because I became uncomfortable. I definitely won't be entering the store again!

I higly do not recommend to anyone from Basel and the area to go to Baltz club. To be honest this is one of the worst places to go for a party. Standing an hour in a queue and then being declined by short bodyguards is normal for that place given this is their approach and place to work, First time in Europe to send negative recommendation - Do Not Go There !

Club basically not bad. But if you hand over your jacket/bag and end up missing half of it, I call that incompetent to the highest degree. If I'm going to pay for it, I'd also like the objects I gave back!! Juice shop.

I left my jacket and bag at the cloakroom at the beginning and received two pieces of paper. When I handed them over when I left to get my jacket and bag back, I only got the bag. The jacket was lost. Tried to contact the Balz Club several times to get the jacket back. But it was ignored every time. That is not how it works!

We waited in line for 20 minutes only to be turned away because we only had 1 woman with us out of 5 men? Where is that please?! Bouncers are really unfriendly and have the feeling that they are really powerful, even though they don't even do their job properly. You immediately feel threatened by them, what's the point?! It's a shame because they lost several customers. GOOD STRATEGY bravo!!!

It was my first time in a club in Basel and I thought it was great. The music was good, more like what I consider to be "ordinary" night out music that's good to dance to, the DJ made a good mix with good transitions. The atmosphere was great and the prices were okay too. There was no long wait for the cloakroom or the toilet and it was nice and clean. I would say it was a very nice night out experience and I would definitely go there again.

If I really had to give a rating, I would give it 0 stars. The violence carried out by the 'Securities' is not acceptable at all. People are attacked outside the cordon, so there was fear that someone would get hurt. I will no longer visit the club. I tried to communicate these thoughts to the security in the situation, but was ignored and even thrown out.

The club itself is good and puts you in a good mood, but the bouncers are just a cheeky incident: I was in the smoking area smoking my cigarette and when my colleague went out, I went with him and forgot the cigarette. When my colleague pointed out to me that I should put out my cigarette, I wanted to go straight away. But then at that moment a bouncer, about 1.70m tall, probably of Turkish origins by the look of him, came, screamed at me to get out and when I apologized he grabbed me by the neck and threw me in front of the stairs like I was a felon. This borders on physical harm. I think in this situation you can show a little understanding, especially if you apologize afterwards. I have never seen such insolence and abuse of power in a club. I've also been told things about exactly this bouncer and a bouncer, but I always thought it couldn't be true until I experienced it with my own eyes. I feel very sorry for this club. It used to be much better and a lot more people came, but I now know the reason why so many people don't go anymore.
