Everything was tip-top, that would actually be 5 stars, but the prices seem a little excessive in relation to the quantity served.

Used to be a huge fan, but the place has slipped way down.. overpriced, gross tiny pisco, the atmosphere has become unbearable (crowded, loud and pushy service). Won't be back again..

Nice restaurant. The food is very good, but we imagined more “real” ceviche. Their own brioches are very tasty, you should definitely eat them. It is too loud for in-depth, stimulating conversations (e.g. business lunches).

Everything is very friendly, fine and hype...unfortunately some really typical Peruvian dishes are missing and the price is too high.

The pork belly is the best dish in my opinion, but none of the plates I have tried there disappoint. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Always worth a visit!

Really fun place with great service and definitely the BEST pisco sour ever! This is my 3 time in past couple years and they do change the menu... Food was always amazing for such small menu. This time it was not my favorite options... but I will def. be back! Had a lot of fun that night.

Very tasty, great service! However, rather expensive for the portion sizes. You won't get completely full. I think just a little bread would have been enough. Menu could be designed better. It's only one page, the rest are all wine recommendations. Unfortunately, the Peruvian flair is missing in the restaurant.

Fantastic Saturday evening at Barranco. The food was very convincing both visually and in terms of taste. The vegetarian plates we had were also incredibly good. Cocktails and wine were also high-class and as a gift we received two glasses of champagne on the house at the beginning due to a special occasion. Service was courteous and attentive and overall a very warm, casual atmosphere. We will be back!

A different experience in Zurich great food and nice ambience

I went to the very beautiful, homely and authentic La Barranco with my friend on Saturday evening. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. Afterwards we were served by a petite blonde young lady and we have to say, she did her job extremely well. Great class!! She put together the 4-course menu for us. Every single course blew us away!! We'd love to come back!!

Small, fine restaurant with Peruvian delicacies. Very friendly and attentive service, excellent cuisine, carefully selected and coordinated, creatively presented dishes. Price-performance ratio is right, enjoyment is guaranteed. Authentic ambience - as if Lima were just around the corner.

Intrusive service telling you how much to order. We ordered 3 main courses to share, she just said it would be a bit small but ok if we weren't very hungry. The dishes were very small, well prepared, and there was no taste explosion. Unfortunately it's not worth it, the price-performance ratio isn't right.

First things first: I thank the Barranco staff for the outstanding service. I think it is important to underline this particular aspect since it is becoming - generally speaking - rarer and rarer. It has been my first time eating Peruvian food so I cannot make comparisons but I can say I liked it very much: While I had a vegetarian option, my boyfriend chose meat and he said it was one of the best meat dishes he had ever eaten. His words. As a fine dining restaurant, I consider prices to be in line with Zurich standards.

Great experience, lovely place and friendly staff, but the dishes were mixed; some great like the pork belly, others nice textures and “interesting” but not necessarily tasty flavors, some were just bad (like chocolate cake, incredibly enough). Glad I went but would not go again.

I try to go to Barranco every time they change their menu (every season) when I have a special occasion to celebrate. The experience is pricey but the food is always excellent and the service is attentive to its client. Great Pisco sour, ceviche and salty churros. My only bad comment is that they were no salty churros on the summer menu.

Incredible Peruvian restaurant with superb staff service. Everyone was charming and helped us decide the best dishes. The ceviche and pimientos are mandatory if you are visiting this restaurant. Don’t forget about the pisco sour to accompany your journey!

If I have to describe the food with one word; it would be DISAPPOINTING. The food looks gorgeous but tastes bad. I don’t care if the price is too much as long as the food tastes good but it’s just not worth it. And this was not just my opinion; all my 4 friends had the same view. For sure not coming again. 80+ CHF is in my view absolutely not worth for the food.

It came highly recommended and I was looking forward to trying it out, but I would not visit the place again. The terrace is very nice on a summer evening, the service is friendly and professional, however the food can be a hit or a miss. We tried pretty much everything on the menu: the 3 fish based dishes were really nice; the veggie dishes looked great, had some flavoured sauces but all-in-all average-tasting small portions, the pork belly was much too sweet for my taste (others liked it though), the deserts were pretty bad - the four of us did not finish one small chocolate cake, it honestly tasted like frozen vomit 🤢. As said, all dishes are tiny and also very pricey, even for Zürich standards

I don’t think I ever tried Peruvian cuisine before but this modern take on it was really nice. The small sharing dishes where an explosion of flavours, the service was very attentive and the cocktails were amazing. Expensive, so don’t go too hungry or you’ll be broke by the end of the evening.

Decent but pricy food, too few veggie options, very crowded inside

The food was delicious and small portions with no reservations about it but I find it as more pricier than the other fine dining restaurants in Zurich area including the Michelin star ones. There are lots of vegetarian options too on the menu - a positive aspect I see. The cauliflower dish that we had was the standout one.

The portions were so small that we all went to McDonalds afterwards even though we paid over 100 per person (without drinks). Otherwise the taste of the food was okay, but the service seemed to be very overwhelmed, drinks sometimes had to be ordered several times before they arrived.

Lovely Peruvian in a no-frills setting. Fish and meat are very fresh. Service speaks great English and explains dishes in great detail. Pisco Sour is as good as in Peru.

cosy atmosphere. quite packed. works with two shifts. cocktails were very delicious. we tried the pisco sour and the mezcal one. Service is friendly and very attentive. We tried four dishes, ceviche was ok, Halibut was very delicious, chicarrones was ok, aubergine I really liked. Presentation is very nice in general. They mention on the menu that for two you would need 6-7 plates however 4 was enough for us. one small criticism brioche does not make sense. it is dry and stale.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here. From the delightful food to the impeccable service and welcoming staff, everything was outstanding. The meals were not only beautifully plated but also creatively blended with unique flavors. This place is perfect for adventurous eaters, as it encourages sharing and experiencing a variety of dishes. However, I must mention that the portion sizes are quite small, typically no more than 1 - 3 bites per meal. So, don't go here on an empty stomach! But despite that, it's still a fantastic spot to relax, unwind, and try something new.

Just brilliant every time. Amazing Peruvian tasting menu. We just let the really knowledgeable staff do their thing and recommend the menu after they asked a few insightful questions about the flavours we would like to explore. Same with the cocktails. Great wine too.

The first time I went to this place, it was amazing. Having returned a few months later, it was unfortunately quite disappointing. Perhaps they were having a bad evening, however at that price point it's unexpected to have such slow and inattentive service with several dishes which were underwhelming.

As a vegan, all I can say is: great! The food is truly at its finest - and I'm quite the gourmet vegan. My partner is not a vegan and the feedback from her too: Great cuisine! The service was really super friendly, competent and attentive. Additionally, and very important on a Saturday evening, the restaurant is NOT understaffed. Although the service was busy, they were able to serve all tables quickly and friendly. Very small minus, the chairs outside are probably functional according to the space available. But not really comfortable. Price/performance ok, certainly not cheap - but according to the performance of the kitchen and service in Zurich, it's completely OK.

Nice restaurant but it's very pricey for what you get. The food was good but it wasn't as amazing as I'd expect for this price range. The portions are tiny and the selection very similar to what I have seen in other cheaper restaurants. The dessert selection was the biggest disappointment. It was limited to a lemon sorbet and a tart which was made of celery, not very tasty and hard to cut with a spoon.

Price/performance ratio catastrophic - our first and last visit to this establishment...! Not knowing and assuming that "normal" menus are served (which would make sense given the very small selection and prices), we ask the staff for advice and only now do we find out that it is a "modular" menu. The menu states that these are not main courses, but rather all “side dishes”. The waitress is nice and well-trained in sales, recommends this and that and that to us, and since there are three of us, she's happy to add a portion. We order 4 menus and (very expensive) bread, plus 2x 1dl of terrible tasting (orange) wine and 3 non-alcoholic drinks, and since there isn't enough quantity for us, 2 more menus. Since we're still not completely full (the portions are micro...!), we have 2 desserts and a pretty bitter coffee. Then we ask for the invoice: 318.-- (!!!!) Yes, Zurich is an expensive place, but such a rip-off system (several small portions at 16.-- to 29.-- each) for a decent quality meal is a NO GO of the worst kind...!

Barranco is my favorite restaurant. I recommend going with a group (4 to 6 people) and ordering EVERYTHING on the menu. the staff is super friendly, the food is perfection and for that deliciousness their prices are super fair.

Delicious! I lived in Peru for a while and missed some of the flavors...especially loved the peppers with Aji Amarillo inside, the asparagus, and the aubergine. All delicious. Service was excellent and friendly. Also, I know this is an unpopular opinion in Europe, but I enjoyed being at a place where I could sit outside without worrying about smokers (there is a smoking area in a seperate section). Dining is also about smell, and smoke can often get in the way of experiencing the full dish with all of your scents. Big fan. I will definitely be back.

Exceptional food & super tasty! As already mentioned by others (and therefore expected by me before visiting), the portion size is quite small for a hefty price, which is a pity. Positive: The food (selection, quality, taste) and the service (attentive & friendly). Deduction: Even though I appreciate the selection of local ingredients, it wasn't that typically Peruvian, i.e. some classics were missing (which can also be adapted to the local conditions) and the spices weren't Peruvian either. Negative: too loud (probably as a result of too many tables, as everything is cramped), not suitable for a romantic date. It's a shame: That day was my husband's birthday and we drove from Bern to Zurich especially for the Barranco. Although I mentioned this when making the reservation, the Barranco did not take the birthday into account. Unclear: when registering you can upload a photo, apparently with the justification that you will be greeted personally (which did not happen). I mentioned the above points in the feedback form that Barranco sends to guests after their visit. So far no response from Barranco.

Most dishes are fried. Sauces and hot spices sometimes too dominant. Very small portions and you have to pay a lot for bread (brioche). It is also very loud in the restaurant. Dinner with only water for two, still not full, people 170.-

I made a reservation and didn't get anything... I can't recommend it to anyone and would never make a reservation there again, not for the price, and the service was probably so incompetent that you have to ask yourself what she's doing here.

Restaurant with unique and very careful decoration. The music and decoration invite you to a *** trip to Peru. The food is incredible: from the presentation of the dishes to the taste of them. The Cevice and the crab are particularly good. Excellent cocktails. Certainly an address to recommend in Zurich.
