The new Orsini impressed us across the board. The finest Italian gourmet cuisine is offered with lots of little gadgets and equally exciting greetings from the kitchen. While the kitchen clearly (and in my eyes successfully) reaches for the stars, it is above all the crew around the tables that cannot be found anywhere else in Zurich. The three hours resemble a perfectly choreographed ballet, the conversations are never aloof or intrusive, but rather warm and always hit exactly the right tone. A small comment from me was spontaneously picked up and integrated into the menu sequence as a surprise. I've never experienced it like this - not just in Zurich - but also in top restaurants around the world. For me, the new Orsini is already one of the best restaurants in the city and the high price is justified. The wine list is a small downer. Although it is excellently equipped, the price still needs to be adjusted downwards a bit. A bottle I know well costs 35 CHF in the store (the hotel certainly gets it significantly cheaper). The wine can be found on the menu for 126 CHF. The surcharge of 100 CHF is significantly too high even for Zurich standards (the wine is also under 90 CHF in other top restaurants in the city). Nevertheless: The evening was great fun and thanks to less wine than usual, there was more of the excellent tasting menu left.

Upscale restaurant right on Paradeplatz. The food, service and atmosphere are first class here. If you like a fancy meal and Italian cuisine, this is the place for you!

Disappointing and unfortunately my first ever bad review! We were at Orsini again at the beginning of October 2021 after a long time and were unfortunately very disappointed. When we arrived it was simply “Yes?” - the first red flag for such a restaurant. We would only be asked whether we would like to hand over the jackets after we had already placed them over the backs of the chairs at the table. The starters, lobster bisque and truffle nüdeli were very good, but not excellent considering the price. Unfortunately, the main courses were a complete failure: there was no trace of spinach in the spinach ricotta ravioli. Unfortunately, these probably lay too long for the salamander and were completely dried out by the time they reached our table. The Osso Bucco was served with an excellent saffron risotto, but the meat was completely tough. Much to the amusement of our table neighbors, I was able to skewer the entire Osso Bucco with a fork and lift it up... without the meat falling apart tenderly, as expected. For the first time in my life, I needed a knife to cook braised meat. The gremolata mentioned on the menu was also missing. We asked for the bill and left. 3 starters, 4 main courses and a normal bottle of wine cost CHF 630 - we were not credited for the main courses that were left behind, even though we explained to the cellar that we didn't like them for the reasons mentioned. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to visiting Orsini, even though we had already heard from our circle of friends that it wasn't that good anymore. Unfortunately, the Orsini is simply not good enough for Zurich at these prices today. I also don't understand how an award could be won for the wine list.
