The atmosphere is really extraordinarily beautiful in summer or spring. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. In addition, the prices for a 5-star hotel in Zurich are quite fair. There is even a valet parking service which makes arrival easier as there are not very many parking spaces available.

The table for 4 is too small, we are all crowded. My husband ordered a plate of perch fillets and he received a whole fish! Without asking if he wants to be prepared. A disaster !

We were a table of 9. Suddenly it was said that we could only choose two different starters and two different main courses. The restaurant was only half full. In addition, the service is obviously overwhelmed on the one hand, and unpleasantly fidgeting on the other. We were only there because hardly any other restaurants were open that day. I'm definitely not coming here again! The food was good. A pity!

Excellent food with terrible service. There were 6 of us and we were the second table occupied in the restaurant. After we sat at the table for about 10-15 minutes, I had to wave the service over to our table and ask them to bring us the cards and completely uncover the table. There were still 2 place settings missing. We were then able to order our menu. After another 20 minutes, a delicious greeting from the kitchen was served, but without explaining what it was. It was tartare in a pastry crust. However, one person was pescatarian, which unfortunately was not taken into account. At the end we wanted to enjoy our coffee comfortably. But the cleaning staff had to use the vacuum cleaner to clean the floor. And our cozy graduation was disrupted. Which is why we wanted to make our way to the car. (2 more tables made their way, they probably felt disturbed too) It was raining heavily and we asked if we could borrow umbrellas for the way to the parking lot. We were brought 2 umbrellas for 6 people, which made the logistics a little more difficult. A thank you or Merry Christmas was expected in vain. But it matched the extremely poor service. It's a shame about the great food. We really enjoyed being a guest at the Hotel Alex and won't be coming back in the future. The price-performance ratio is not right.

Very elegant, but all natural and friendly

To serve a piece of cod that was raw is just unforgettable! It shows laziness in the kitchen and a low standard of cooking. How can a chef send this kind of food out? It even looked raw on the plate!! We then had to wait another 15 mins for a replacement and that was then over cooked! The foam was watery, artichoke was hard and it was just another show of very amateur cooking. I expected better, but sadly a complete let down.

Excellent cuisine, superb location, however since the hotel was taken over by this new group the service does not meet the standard of a 5-star hotel. We have a Ukrainian waitress who didn't speak English and who was more into flirting than serving.

We were there for the 30th of my husband. We were served by Ester who was very nice and friendly. We had mussels with French fries and swiss veal chop with glasses of wine. The mussels portion was quiet big and Ester was so kind to inform us. The view is astonishing and the restaurant very beautiful. Price is expectedly expensive but worth it. We loved and highly recommend!

The service at the Alex Restaurant at the bar was incredibly disappointing. The staff was unfriendly and uninterested in the guests' needs. From the greeting to the farewell, the tone was rude and unprofessional. There were significant delays in taking orders and serving food. The waitresses and waiters seemed overwhelmed and neglected our table several times without asking for drinks or other needs. Even simple requests were misunderstood. Overall, the service at Alex was definitely not at the level you would expect from such an established restaurant. There is a lack of professionalism, friendliness and efficient processes. In addition, as guests, we all noticed individual waiters arguing among themselves in English. This was extremely unpleasant for everyone who was visiting there at the time. Unfortunately incredibly disappointed...my friend and I wanted to enjoy a nice evening with good food. We ordered a starter and a main course, had to wait over 40 minutes and finally got the main course first. Unfortunately, the service staff did not understand the order or only partially understood it due to their lack of knowledge of German. Love Alex, we’ve stayed there and have had breakfast, lunch and dinner in their restaurant and terrace multiple times. Always excellent. This time just had a nice glass of bubbles and my husband wine with a steak tartare. They have an pretty complete selection of spirits and wines in their bar and I love the atmosphere. Today we came with our dog and sat outside, I just wish you could see a bit more of the lake from the bar terrace as you they have one of the most amazing views from the lake in the restaurant and it’s terrace. About our room last time we stayed there, it was a corner room with gorgeous views, I liked the bed and sitting area separation. I found our bathroom a bit small but loooved the kitchenette which I was definitely not expecting. The spa has good services had a great massage and my mom has had a facial there which she loved. They have a small area in the spa with sauna, steam room and “pileta” to soak.

Could be further improved and become a 5 star restaurant. Bar was excellent! Specifically deserts were really good (try the ice cream option). Rest of menu was more average. Wine selection is good. Service was also really fast. Tables for 2 could also be a bit bigger.

We were there for lunch on Dec. 7 my husband`s b-day. Was wonderful! Menu for 55 chf 3 gang was perfect and I had from the menu. Decided to go back again for lunch on 17.12.20... Menu was a third and lunch menu same price 55,BUT nothing worth while on it... total rip off. They said they had to minimize due to Corona massnahmen, which is fair enough however, they should adjust the pricess accordingly! I will try again once they have normal manue back... but definitely NOT before.

dies ist mein dritter und definitiv letzter Besuch im Boat House (jetzt Widder pop up): Geschäftsessen auf der wunderschönen Terrasse Ende August: völlig überteuerte und sehr kleine Speisekarte. unter Anderem "Ceviche" welches wie eine grüne Thaicurrysuppe aussah, meilenweit von Ceviche entfernt. Service inexistent (wir haben den ganzen Abend mit einer Ausnahme unseren völlig überteuerten Wein ( Barua für CHF 99.--:)) selber eingeschenkt. Auf die Reklamation, dass der Burger (CHF 49.--) mit einem Salatblatt, einem totgekochten mini Stück Fleisch und Mayo kombiniert mit einem verbrannten Brötchen ungeniessbar sei wurde NICHT reagiert, erst als wir den Kaffee bestellt hatten und wir nochmals reklamiert hatten wurden uns 4 (!) gummige kleine Macarönchen offeriert welche genauso ungeniessbar waren wie alle anderen Speisen an diesem Abend. Weder Chef de Service noch der Küchenchef oder sonst jemand vom Management hat es für nötig gehalten, sich zu zeigen... Anderentags habe ich telefonisch beim Management (Herr Gerber ) reklamiert, man hat mir angeboten, ich soll doch vorbeikommem und man gebe mir dann die 49 Franken zurück und man offeriere mir einen Gratisdrink! was soll man da sagen..., einfach nur unfähig und amateurmässig. mein Ratschlag: AVOID

Lunch auf der Terrasse 11uhr45, high-noon-hot !Essen knapp am Durchschnitt, Cocktails kreativ, knapp über‘m Durchschnitt, Service gerade noch Durchschnitt im Durchschnitt, Preise zur Leistung kommentarlos.Sevice: vereinzelte Fischwürfel versunken in einem gebundenen, saffranfarbigen Süppchen. 4 ministückchen Diät-Brot für 3 Personen, Tagesempfehlung: gegrillte Crevetten - eventuell 4 Stück - ebenfalls versunken in einem asiatisch angehauchten Pfeffersüppchen, leider geschmacklich verwandt mit den braunen Braten-Pfeffersaucen zum Filetsteak aus den 80zigern, incl Reisschälchen für 49 chf. Guter Weisswein aus dem Wallis -79 chf - jedoch bei 29grad im Schatten und sicher 43 grad in der Sonne (weil man die Schirme an den Tischen nicht aufspannen durfte) nur in den ersten 15 Minuten bei ca 11 grad im Kühler temperiert, den Rest im überwiegenden Selfservice aus dem Warmwassereimer bei ca 16 Grad. gebrauchte Teller wurden nicht oder zu spät abgeräumt, kein Gang kam gleichzeitig für 3 Personen an den Tisch.............aber zum Schluss ein Überdurchschnitt (neben der 400 chf Rechnung) : der Eiskaffee und das Tonca Eis am Stil.

Auswahl der Speisen imInternet gecheckt und mich auf Ceviche und Burger gefreut. Zumal der gehoffte hohe Anspruch zum Widder und Storchen Hotel besteht. Zum Lunch gegen 13.15 Uhr an der Terrasse angekommen-trotz das mich ein Herr im Service gesehen hatte- musste ich ein paar Minuten warten, da sein Gespräch mit irgendwelchen Technikern an der Bar wichtiger war. Der Service war bemüht und freundlich aber nicht wirklich professionell oder gar aufmerksam. Der Grund für meinen Eintrag ist aber der Super enttäuschende Wagyu Burger: Man (Küche, Management) sollte sich wirklich schämen für 50 CHF den Gästen so etwas überteuertes, trockenes und langweiliges Gericht anzubieten!!! Es ist ernsthaft nur das medium Bestellte trockene Paddy, EIN! Salatblatt und Mayonnaise plus Trüffel im Gericht enthalten. Der Witz war zudem das die Trüffel oben auf den Bun gehobelt wurden und ein Drittel bei einem Windstoss auf dem Boden landete. Ich habe echt selten so etwas trockenes und liebloses gegessen. Musste mir dann etwas Gurke und Tomaten nachbestellen um es wenigstens etwas aufzuwerten und geniessbar zu machen. Nun ja und Die Pommes waren zu allem Überfluss auch so fettig und hart frittiert das jede Badibeiz das besser kann. Vielleicht sollte man sich mal. . . ach, ich hab keine Lust mich mehr über solche Abzocke aufzuregen! Danke aber einmal und lange lange Zeit nicht wieder!

Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen.Wir bekamen durch die Reservierung einen Parkplatz mit Valetservice direkt beim Restaurant (schon allein deswegen immer reservieren) Das freundliche Personal strahlte eine herzliche Fröhlichkeit aus die man so nicht unbedingt erwarten konnte. Trotz ausgebuchter Terrasse direkt am See (man hört das Wasser bei genauem Hinhören plätschern) wurden wir stets unaufdringlich umsorgt, während wir den herrlichen Blick und das ausgezeichnete Essen genossen. Handwerklich perfekt gemacht mit tollen Überraschungen etwa beim Octopussalat oder beim Tagliata die ich hier nicht verraten möchte. Wer bei den Weinen trotz der Topberatung nicht fündig wird mag wahrscheinlich gar keinen Wein ;-). Ein besonderer Abend in einem besonderen Ambiente mit besonderen Gastgebern. Ich hatte meine Frau zu unserem 30 Hochzeitstag in dieses wunderschöne Lokal direkt am Zürichsee eingeladen. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und hatten einen wunderschöner Tisch auf der Terrasse bekommen mit Blick auf Zürich. Wir wahren Faszinierd von der atemberaubenden Aussicht.Das Essen wahr ein Traum ich hatte die Bouillonbais und meine Frau den Pulpo Salat sah nicht nur optisch sehr schön aus es wahr auch sehr lecker der nette aufmerksamer Kellner(Larry hiss der nette Herr) hatte uns diese Gerichte Empfohlen und er hatte absolut recht. Durch die gute kompetente Beratung des Kellners musste ich nicht einmal einen Blick in die Weinkarte machen. So wie das Essen wahr auch der Wein top und dies zu einem Top fairen Preis. Zum Schluss die Überraschung hat voll funktioniert wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend mit feinem Essen und kompetenter aufmerksamer Bedienung wir kommen sicher öfters an die schöne Lage an den Zürichsee.

I spent the weekend in Zurich and decided to go to the Boat House on Sunday for lunch. I head a very delicious tarte flambé and the best non-alcoholic cocktail I ever tasted (the name was: Got to Give it up) The view on the terrace was exceptional and the service team was very kind, attentive and courteous. I can’t imagine how I could have spent my Sunday better.

Die Speisen und Getränke waren ebenfalls super. Ich werde ganz bald wieder kommen um die Muscheln zu essen, welche bei den anderen Gästen zu lecker ausgesehen haben. Wir hatten auch die Gelegenheit auf eine kleine Hausführung. Es ist alles sehr geschmackvoll und stimmig eingerichtet. Hier hat sich wirklich mal jemand Gedanken gemacht und nützliche Dinge stylisch verpackt. Das gesamte Hotel lädt zum Verweilen ein! Es ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert.

Myself and 8 friends celebrated my birthday at The Boat House. From the moment we stepped into the lobby we were warmly greeted and the service was impeccable throughout the evening. We had a table in the residents lounge - a private room that is very comfortable and nicely decorated with stunning views to lake Zurich. The menu is selective, with fresh local and international specialties - all the guests enjoyed their nicely presented entrees and main courses. Noteworthy, the portions are generous for both the entrees and main course. The sommelier was able to recommend some nice wine to accompany our meals. Overall, it is was a lovely evening in an amazing setting and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a special venue along the Zurich’s lake shore.

We went there for our wedding and honestly I don’t think we could have picked a better place! Service was fantastic and super friendly, and everybody was doing their best to make us super happy. The food was delicious. The “tarte flambée” with seafood was awesome, the bouillabaisse also very fine. Dessert was also great. The view is beautiful. I really recommend it. Why this restaurant doesn’t have at least 4 stars is one of the great mistery of the universe.
