At the "Bottegone" I always feel very comfortable. Very familiar atmosphere, excellent service and... the dishes offered are truly super: well-prepared, perhaps excessively abundant, but of a unique goodness, difficult to find elsewhere.

Absolutely recommended! Writing this review while sitting there, we enjoyed each and every moment of being here. Food was amazingly delicious. Staff are extremely friendly and make each piece of communication pleasant. It was a bit loud inside with all crowd talking, but that can't affect your joy even for a second!

Absolutely fabulous! Wonderful food and generous portions! The wait staff is a well-oiled machine, "dancing" together all evening with playful banter and seemed to be truly enjoying serving their guests! Inside is small and cozy. The outside patio is lovely if weather permits. We started with wonderful cheeses and salmon appetizer, then had amazing pasta to follow with generous bowls of fresh grated Parmesan, and finished with a wonderful chocolate dessert! Magnifico!

Don’t be fool by the look of the place! very limited menu for 5 dishes. Only meat, bacon and chorizo. Everything over-salted! Plat de fromages is presented by 4 little “supermarket” pieces. Risotto impossible to eat - way too much salt. If you want to enjoy pre-cooked meal go for the deer meat with mashed potatoes. My star goes only for the extensive wine list. Don’t waste your time and money. Very touristic place.

Historic place in Lugano. No review would be needed, so what can I say/write other than that everything is top notch? From the staff to the dishes and, obviously, to the wine shop 🍷.

Really good food, super great staff. They allowed me to try many wines but the reason for the one 4 star rating was due to the wine selection.

To avoid !! Very limited choice and disappointing cuisine. Empty plates for a price that is way too high, not to mention the quality. Every service requested from a waiter sounded like a chore to him. I leave with an empty stomach and wallet. I wouldn't go back!!

Bad, inattentive service. First we had to wait until he finally came over, then he looked at us questioningly - he didn't bring us a card. We then ordered an Aperol Spritz...that was the worst and rather expensive (CHF 14.-) Aperol Spritz that we have ever drunk. We suspect that it was a pre-mixed Aperol from the bottle...it definitely didn't taste good at all...we were very disappointed. We also had to actively approach the service staff to settle the bill.

It's remarkable to find an authentic and high-quality restaurant so close to a "touristic" center. It was wonderfully refreshing to be presented with a chalkboard menu, limited in quantity only, with a depth of choice more than sufficient to cover any desires. Adding witness to the freshness of the food produced, for instance, we had a desire for mozzarella and were informed, "That was last night." Where the menu is brief, the wine list is extensive, with many wines being offered by the glass. The meals themselves (pasta and salads) were perfection. The Panna cotta, simply the best (says my wife), personally I felt it too "stiff", either way the yasye was divine. Attentive, respectful and helpful staff rounded out a wonderful evening. Including guiding us through wine choices from the region. If we had more nights we'd return.

It was an experience. From the hospitality to the food, the exquisite wines and the Bellavista, everything was just right.

It was a nice place for a quick lunch... I must say that the service has definitely gotten worse, it seems like they are doing you a favor by serving you, then the dishes have been the same without much imagination for years...

Was served by a very arrogant, young waiter in an averagely busy restaurant/terrace. Maybe it's because I'm not very young anymore and was eating alone. I had difficulty understanding his language (It and En) and this rude employee didn't feel the need to involve one of his colleagues. It's a shame - for me the Ristorante Bottegone was THE restaurant in Lugano; Last Monday was definitely the last time.

We have been here several times, always for dinner. Small but very nice place, walls full of bottles and a slightly 70s style. Friendly and well-prepared waitstaff on wines, the suggested proposals have always been much appreciated. Prices in line with other restaurants in Lugano. I definitely recommend everyone to go there at least once

We had dinner here the first night we arrived in Lugano. The waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable. We got free appetizers as soon as we sat down. Menu choices were few but everything was extremely tasty and fresh. I also loved the wine variety they have at hand. We chose a bottle of Terre Nere from Sicily. It was wonderful.

Fantastic staff and delicious food! The wine selection is incredibly vast. The food is some of the tastiest in Switzerland.

For me the best restaurant I've been to in Lugano, a daily fresh and small menu with lots of flavours and a vibrant atmosphere with very good service. I can surely say I will be back. Also the dessert was worth every Swiss Franke, make sure you'll leave room for it :)

The staff was welcoming, wine was good, meat was poorly cooked (burnt outside and raw inside), olive oil was low quality (although in a nice bottle), bread was good. Quality price ratio was not good by Lugano standards.

We went here for a dinner with friends. Nice vintage style place. Wine in plain sight everywhere. Friendly and professional staff. Really very good food. From appetizer to dessert. I had a beef tartare (really great in every sense), some braised penne and a hazelnut mousse with nocino. All very good. Fair price. We were very satisfied. Absolutely recommended!

You can order from a selection of daily dishes. We visited without a reservation and ate on the terrace next to the restaurant. The steak was delicious, and the pasta and fish fillet were also delicious.

This was a disappointing restaurant/wine bar. The first day we came, we were able to sit there for couple hours enjoying a bottle of Italian red wine. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We decided to come back the next day for some different wines and have dinner. We were told that dinner wasn’t until 7 so we decided to have some wine anyway and have dinner later. Finished the first glass of wine and waited to order another. After 15-20 minutes of no one coming out, we decided that it wasn’t worth it trying to stay for dinner. We would have happily had another glass of wine and, by the time we finished it, have had dinner at 7. But no one seemed interested. Too bad, great wines here and heard dinner was good as well.

Service wasn’t so great. Waited long to get attention at order, bill even the place was half empty. No English menu and waiter was impatient to explain. At some point thick smoke came out of the kitchen. Bruschetta was good. Wine recommended to us was very good. Food was OK. Fish was bland but good. Pasta was simple but good. Bread was stale. If it was a cheaper place I’d let it slide

We were attracted by the typical and charming decoration. Indeed, a nice wine list, however our industrial type ravioli were just like the button mushrooms that accompanied them, in a can, that is to say disappointing and in bad taste. It was for a midday meal. The waiter offered us a panna cotta of the same quality as the rest to make up for it. Despite our complaint, the server made no commercial gesture or questioned it. Place to avoid, given the number of restaurants that exist in this magnificent city.

My friend organized a dinner for 7 people on Friday January 7th. She called 3 days before. Never responded and on the evening of the meeting we found ourselves in front of the closed door. Not serious at all

Miserable, arrogant service! Were there with a child. But they obviously didn't want us as guests. After 5 minutes we weren't even asked for drinks; although there were enough staff and there were no guests there at the time...

By far one of the best food experiences in Lugano. Wine selection of local and foreign wines is outstanding and knowledge of the wines is strong with the staff. The food is very good, with fresh ingredients and handmade pasta. The service staff was excellent and professional.

Locale da rinnovare , insieme al personale e la cucina.Qualità mediocre, in un tavolo da 4 persone cotture tutte sbagliate.Carne media servita al sangue.Filetto di pesce talmente cotto che risulta essere stopposo.Ravioli stracotti.Perfino le bruschette offerte sono risultate bruciate.Vini al bicchiere molto commerciali , in un locale con questo nome mi aspettavo qualcosa di meglio.Il mondo cambia aggiornatevi !!!!!

Kleine Auswahl an Hauptgängen im Gegensatz zur eher vielfältigen Dessertauswahl. Solide und schmackhafte Küche im süditalienischen Stil und gekocht wird nur mit frischen und guten Produkten. Hier draussen zu essen weist mehr Flair auf, als an anderen Orten in Lugano.

We had to sit outside because of the Covid regulations and unfortunately it was a bit chilly, but luckily the service and the food warmed us up again. Super nice waiter, great wine, super fine food, simply homely place, highly recommended.

Unfriendly staff. They didn’t give us a table because we didn’t match the rest of the customers (dress code). They told us everything was booked when half of the restaurant was empty (already 20.30)

We stayed at the Hotel Splendide and concierge recommended us three restaurants: Argentino, Olympia, and Cucina del Alice - all three of which were extremely mediocre, tourist oriented and with huge menus (usually a bad sign), and probably only advised to us because of some partnership between the hotel and restaurants.Bottegone was incredible, we ended up going there three days in a row. The menu is small and changes every day, the staff were welcoming and the terrace was very cozy. We spent five days in Lugano and this restaurant was one of the highlights of our stay. Highly recommend !
