Café Bar Odéon in Zürich

A cozy restaurant with tasty dishes and attentive staff nearby the banks of the scenic Limmat River and Lake Zurich. Prices may seem a bit high but hey, this is Zurich! PS: If you're a non-smoker, opt for an inside table further away from the entry to avoid any lingering cigar, cigarette or vape scents.

Can't miss out but be part of history.

I was there for a drink with some friends on a Saturday evening. The cocktails are phenomenal, only slightly above the average price for Zurich, and the service was friendly. However, the music was way too loud. You barely understood your own words. A little quieter jazz music would have suited the atmosphere better than the hits of the 80s and 90s. Because you can't dance anyway because of the lack of space. So the mood might be, how can I put it, a little less disco-like. But otherwise a very pleasant experience.

I had breakfast in a historical setting in a nice atmosphere. The taste was good and my plate was very sufficient. Since I went on a weekday morning, I could easily find a seat. I also thought of going to try the cocktail, but then I left saying "next time", I liked it, it is recommended to try it.

Once again, a legendary evening in a cool atmosphere

We went by chance with some friends during our holidays in June 2023 in Zurich and we repeat every day. The service was great from everyone and especially from John. The food was also very delicious. For sure, we will return! Totally recommended site!

Sunday evening I wanted to have a quick schlumi with my friends. I came in the door, I didn't even have the opportunity to finish my sentence, I wasn't even greeted when he said finished behind the bar, finish, finish. “Cest Le Ton quit fait la musique” I know that you want to finish work, I understand that, but you can still say hello and behave as a good host. A good host might have recommended another bar that was still open, but so unfriendly and unprofessional. I definitely won't go there again.

I like the Odeon. Friendly service, great atmosphere and great location. But a large beer for 10.50 is simply too expensive for me.

The Cafe and drinks were amazing, Mr Nuri was very helpful and professional, i am looking forward to visit again.

Had breakfast here with my family on 03-08-24. We asked for tap water since it is the best in Europe but was told we had to order bottled water. Server was not too strong in English. Kids also asked for tap water. Waiter came back with one large and two small bottles of water. I said we would share the large for $18CDN but he said that he could not “delete” the other two. We sent them back anyways. Food was tasty but very expensive with small servings. At the end the waiter said that he could delete the 2 waters. How could this suddenly be possible….because it was time to ask for a tip (not common in Switzerland) so I reluctantly have him 5CH and left. Total cost for breakfast was $180 CDN and we left hungry. Not coming back!

Amazing century old feel to this place. Great mixed drinks and draft beer selection plus some true life history of characters who came through Odeon.

Incredibly unfriendly service - avoid if you can

Since we were recommended to make a reservation, we did so a day in advance. We weren't really welcomed, but then we saw our reservation and just sat down. But we were served quickly at the table. But the employee wasn't flexible enough to accommodate the drinks and food at the same time. But don't worry, we had time. Was served very quickly. Very fine, fresh orange juice and good coffee. The Egg Royal was phenomenal, we would have loved to have another one. What bothered us a bit was that guests were turned away even though many tables were empty. Last but not least came the hammer, a very expensive bill. Which was worth it since not every breakfast we enjoy is that expensive. What I think is very positive is that the evening is only for ages 18 and up.

One of the most original bars in the city.

We were able to enjoy a delicious brunch at the Odeon, and I can highly recommend the Odeon Platter as it has a little bit of everything. The Café Bar has long since achieved cult status and continues to live up to it even after years in the gastronomy scene. Great service, friendly service, fine food and the great location are what define the Odeon. Recommended.

The ambience of the Odeon is in a class of its own. The service is unique, courteous and guest-oriented.

First of all, I would like to write that everything we ordered was delicious. The place is very atmospheric - the center of Zürich and decorated in a classic, old but elegant style. The service was very nice and spoke English. I especially recommend Apfelstrudel and classic espresso.

I was in bars in San Francisco, New York, Munich, London, Paris and Vienna. But no bar is as cool as the Odeon Bar in Zurich!! Professional hosts, great drinks, great atmosphere!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

It was not my first and last time here, I love to spend my Sunday brunch’s in ODEON. Excellent service, delicious food and great coffee.

I love the food so much (I ordered alcohol free cocktail with pineapple juice, lime juice and coconut cream and vegetable soup), the service is perfect (the waiter Nuri was extremely friendly and attentive), and the atmosphere of the bar is so mesmerizing (the marble walls, the historical background of this place).

Always super friendly and excellent food

Sublime Swiss coffee equivalent of the 2 magots in Paris. Historical. Einstein, Lenin, James Joyce… came there! It breathes culture, history and creativity. Very classy and professional service. The coffee is sublime! Also the salmon omelette. Certainly expensive but hey… you peace up the site! I even wanted to buy a poster… maybe I’ll come back before leaving!!! Danke / THANKS

Thanks to a lovely invitation, I was able to be a guest at the Odeon last New Year's Eve. The boss of the house knew how to make you feel welcome with his ease and ease. Together with his cool and friendly team I was able to enjoy a great party. Totally relaxed atmosphere with a classic, stylish ambience! Thanks!

Staff is very friendly, she took lots of photos of us when we asked. Prices are high but it is also the heart of Zurich. Food and café ☕ great. Unfortunately there are a lot of snobby/arrogant Zurichers there, with a small child you are not welcome and you get dirty looks and unfortunately there was no high chair. We knew it wasn't ideal there, but we were tourists and had to decide spontaneously. You noticed that you were “disturbing”.

Just drank some wine (after the Pobe tasting) - perfect!

The mulled wine is really good (I don't usually like this one much). The old, high restaurant with friendly service is definitely worth a visit.

The atmosphere in general was pleasant and the waitress was nice, but the food was horrible, even though we waited a really long time for it. The food prices are also too high for the amount and quality you get.

A highlight every time. Whether comfortable or with action. No longer an insider tip, but the place to be at Bellevue. Super great service, the best host in the city, delicious food and always the perfect music!

Historic brewery with the ambiance to match. Friendly service. We had 2 Zurich breakfasts (32 CHF per person). The wholemeal bread is good but the roll (brioche) is better for breakfast.

We came over from Australia and we walked in and greeted so friendly straight up. Our barmen Peter was exceptional and made the best cocktails. He definitely deserves a pay rise 😁. Highly recommend and a must go to!

The ODEON is a home of the European intelligentsia. It is an orientation and lifestyle area far beyond Switzerland, even beyond the German-speaking area! A group of Zurich residents would have to work to ensure that it was restored to its old size, spatially. For me, every visit is a pleasure. Unfortunately, I'm not in Zurich too often. - The avocado tartar was the best of my life! (Well, it was the first one of my life) Still, I'm convinced I won't find a better one!

It really blew my mind! CHF 24 for a gin and tonic in a standard glass with an ice cube and lemon. Simply placed, i.e. without any special service or sophistication in the glass. This is extreme even for Zurich…

Iconic cafe in Zurich. The ambience and aesthetic is amazing. Food it just ok — but considering the bar for quality in Switzerland, this isn’t surprising. Love the Viennese coffee culture as well. The espresso was great. They have vegan and vegetarian options!

You can't but to feel retrospective, this place is magic with a very good service, kind, welcoming and coffee in its variation is very good.
