Couldn't give me an objective opinion

the service is very good, the meat dishes vary a lot and unfortunately there is not much choice. so in my opinion this does not benefit the customer at all. a little expensive too. but the service and the place remain pleasant.

Everything was very good. The welcome, the cuisine, the dishes, the atmosphere, everything is very good. Thank you to the staff for the excellent welcome, quality service goes a long way.

Super good quality meat Fast service And sleep very pleasantly

Not very warm welcome when we asked for a drink in the afternoon. We were asked to leave by 6 p.m. in order to leave seats for people who came to eat, at 5:30 p.m. the waitress asked us to leave the table. Additionally, there were few people and several free tables. Damage

Change of card and price. It was famous for eating a good (large) piece of meat, this is no longer the case. But very well eaten nonetheless. Too bad I won't come back.

Please note, if you come on a busy day, only an "express" card is available. The reputation as a meat restaurant was lost along the way. The menu offers more pasta and pizza than pieces of meat. Several omissions occurred during our meal, notably one dish. One of our friends ate it after we were all finished. No action was taken following this gross error.

Very disappointed with the change in menu and the change in cooking style. The Café des Bouchers is a Lausanne institution known for its meat-based brasserie dishes and now it has become an Italian restaurant that does pastas and pizzas and very few choices of meat dishes. The restaurant no longer lives up to its name at all. However, there remains the classic beef tartare and as good as ever.

We are extremely disappointed with the "Café des butchers". Customers for many years, we used to visit 6-7 people, once or twice a month. What was our astonishment when we discovered that the authentic “butchers’ café” is no more. Before going there, we looked at the menu for the week, in order to choose which meat to eat for lunch. Without asking too many questions, the menu having not been updated on the site since December 18, we said to ourselves that we would see on site, as there was little chance of having a bad surprise. And here is the drama. Decor, menu, employees, everything has changed. But no information on the website, it’s SCANDALOUS. It has become an "all-purpose" restaurant, pizza, pasta, meats etc... And I'm not even talking about the prices which reach the stars... Before we had a menu for 25.- with starter main course dessert , now the steak is 29.- without starter or dessert. Otherwise, the pizza was very good, even if we had come to eat a good piece of meat, all with good service, which was not the case with these new people! We will have to find another destination where we can eat good meat at a reasonable price.

Change of ownership has changed and prices have skyrocketed

Great restaurant for lunch, excellent value for money!

Arriving at 7:00 p.m., we asked the waitress if they could serve quickly because at 8:45 p.m. we had to leave. Ordered 3 steak fries sauce cooked rare After 4 asking when it was going to happen and 1h40 later our steak was served. We had to refuse them because we were already late. Unacceptable to wait 1 hour 40 minutes for 3 steaks knowing that 2 tables that arrived after us were served before.

Amazing place. Alwaya very good quality and quantity of food, very friendly service, and reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Warm atmosphere and very helpful staff. Excellent tartare and rampons salad with grilled bacon. Generous portion and very good quality food. Excellent value.

Taste-wise, the fondue was okay. On the other hand, the service was unacceptable from start to finish. The waiter accused us several times of lying about our orders when he was wrong. This is personally the second time that I have been a server and that we have had problems. This is very damaging compared to the acceptable quality of the cuisine. Restaurant to avoid if you don't want to be attacked by a waiter!

We ate a fondue, there were at least 13 of us, the waitress had to manage and with all the animals at the table it wasn't easy, the cheese used for the fondue was a little too salty for my taste but it was still good.

Good draft beers, friendly terrace, smiling and welcoming staff, the dishes are based around meat, well it rings clear with the name of the restaurant, I will use the dishes instead of the draft beers. 😁☺

For a daily lunch menu Very decent dish for the price 26.- small salad, meat in sauce, and small dessert. It was good. Simple service but we waited quite a long time.

I have eaten there several times. I find the spicy tartare exceptional. The service is fast if you are lucky enough to reach a waitress or waiter who are largely overwhelmed at midday, it is better to reserve to have a place. And the fact that you have to announce each time that you want to pay individually when there are several of you is annoying.

A long-time regular, the Parisian entrecôte is now 38.- and the last one was really average, cold and too nerve-racking. I really had less fun. The vines on the small terrace and the parking spaces are great

We booked in the morning and communicated what we wanted to order in advance because we were in a hurry. When we got there, everything went very, very quickly and the dish was good! It's rare to have this kind of service and it's nice when you don't have a lot of time to eat. A big thank-you

Regarding the deplorable service, I think this restaurant is in the Top 5. The first tour, nothing unusual but when we wanted to recommend a drink, we had to raise our hands more than 5 times, so that the waitress (blonde) was looking in our direction. After 10 minutes of waiting, she finally came, without asking us what we wanted, she asked, the same thing? And before we answered, she left. Except that the famous same thing never happened, 15 minutes later, she finally came back, we asked for 3 cokes and she brought us 2 cokes and 1 cooler like on the first order. The person who was with me said that he did not want a shandy but yes a coke and without any reaction, not even a sorry, she left with the shandy in her hand, came back with the coke, she got it placed on the table, without serving it, and left with a huff. Disastrous service even for a simple coke.

Very nice neighborhood café with excellent food. Very welcoming staff and fast service. Decoration with old-fashioned but very cozy charm.

It's not easy to manage all the lunch covers when the terrace is full but still, ignoring customers who want to order or pay is not very professional. Any salad, hash browns, good. Horse steak, really not successful. Shrimp ok, beef fillet not exceptional. My advice, there is always better elsewhere.

A legendary place for workers and other partygoers in the 70s, thanks to its opening hours and a simple and effective menu, it has remained faithful to its spirit. The menu offers excellent value for money. The terrace is very pleasant. In short, good time

We came to eat a delicious BBQ Bacon Burger this afternoon, but I regret such a welcome. I won't give the name of the waitress but she was extremely unpleasant. Too bad because without this aggressive service nothing to say.

We had lunch there on a Saturday Two adults and two children, it was very quiet. The dishes are good, meat like fondue, for reasonable prices (I’ll let you be the judge)

The fries are soft, the dishes are very expensive and the meat ok but nothing more, in any case nothing that the prices charged can justify. It is no longer the Café des butchers that the people of Lausanne knew.

Terrible server. Threw the coasters at us and yelled at us for closing the door because of the cold. Never again

Very good portion. The meat was cooked as I requested. Very friendly employees and always worried about whether everything was ok. Various dishes and menus at pleasant prices. I recommend it and will come back.

Meat of more than adequate quality, too bad all the pleasure one could have in a restaurant is wiped out by dismal or even non-existent service. We had to repeatedly ask the same things to the staff, staff who were the least friendly and unsmiling in addition, to get exactly the same answer, which happened to be <<2 minutes>>, 2 minutes which obviously turned into 10 minutes or the requested things simply never arrive. It is very unfortunate for a daily special that it is impossible to eat and pay in less than two hours, a problematic time when you have to return to work at 1:30 p.m. and after asking 4 times to pay it is already past 2:30 p.m. Staff behavior to be reviewed.

First time at the Café des Bouchers on Wednesday June 29, 2022, there were four of us. Two steak tartare without taste and without seasoning, a roast beef where the slices were so thin that you could see through them, but the Parisian entrecôte was magnificent.

The waitresses are not welcoming at all!! No smile, it looks like they are forced to work. Long wait to get our dish... a place setting falls and she won't even bring another one. The food is good but nothing more... stingy on the sauce and the accompaniment. Never again ! Go eat elsewhere really if you want a quality welcome because there…

Although the setting suggests a respectable restaurant the service is truly deplorable. We asked for a carafe of water and the waitress was quick to point out that she would have to pay if we didn't have other drinks. A stingy first contact confirmed by the fact that the sauces included in the ordered dish are in fact counted separately. We ordered the entrecôte and the béarnaise which seems necessary for the dish is in reality taxed additionally. The meat was overpriced for its quality and the service was seriously unpleasant. The dessert menu is sad, we would be better served at home. Stingy and unpleasant.

The service was unfriendly or even unpleasant. We wanted to order a carafe of water, it had to be paid for... The waitress was rude. The main course was brought out while we ate the starter. The meat is good but still too expensive. Unpleasant service and a stingy establishment... I do not recommend this establishment for a warm or just decent evening, you might as well go home.

Deplorable!!! Poor service. 30 min before being served. And we were kicked out 1 hour before closing!!! Don't waste your time in this restaurant there are plenty of them around Extremely disappointed!!!

Very well eaten but I admit to being nostalgic

I stopped by today. I asked for a glass of sparkling water and the waitress informs me that they only have San Pellegrino 5dl bottles. Once served I see that it is CHF 5.70 Once on departure it is noted on a poster that there is water pressure at CHF 3.70 It is not correct not to inform the customer. Luckily she refunded me the difference.

Yesterday Saturday April 2 around 12:30 p.m., there weren't many people there. My tartare was good and very orange. Too much ketchup perhaps, and it costs less than meat. For the tartare, it’s toast or fries. If you want both, it costs extra…..it’s true that 100 g of bread or 100 g of fries are expensive. And all of this was said so “gently” by a surly and very uncommercial waitress.

I've been coming to the café for several years and it's quite simply one of the best places to eat a good steak or any other dish on the menu where I always hesitate what to have because I like everything. It's really good and affordable.

Café des bouchers is a famous place and was often recommended in the past. We went there during the week and there were plenty of tables free, so no reservation needed. We ordered some burgers (there is a seasonal selection available) and beer (Schneider from Germany). Food came fast and was good. After we were served the first time no waiter passed by or even stopped to ask us if we wanted another drink. When i asked the two waitresses behind the bar whether we could have another one we were served immediately. Unfortunately the staff decided 5 minutes later that with only two more tables sitting in the restaurant to close an hour early and to start cleaning the floor. Haven't seen such a kick out in a while.

Friendly welcome, simple, smiling, nothing to say, great and without reservation on a Friday lunchtime, nothing but happiness I found the waitresses pleasant and my dish was cooked as I wanted, good quality meat. I recommend for lunch in the evening, I can’t wait to discover…

Morning service (opening) is excellent. Evening service sucks. The waitress seemed to do this job without motivation. Updated 2022. Despite a reservation: slow service. The bread didn't arrive, the pasta to complement the fries didn't arrive either, same problem for the extra bottle of water. The waiter preferred to clean an empty table instead of coming to offer desserts and coffee. The Châteaubriand was beautiful, good, but lukewarm. We have the feeling of having been left out. The service sabotages the kitchen's work, it's a shame.

The steak was poorly cooked and frankly probably frozen or of very low quality. I can do better at home with oven fries and a Migros steak. The fat was raw, full of connective tissue and too hard. The fries are poorly cut half potatoes and the waitress offers a plate for two people. The reservation was made by "the fork" but lost on arrival. The waitress was alone with another who did not speak French. We got the table near the door despite reservations. I ordered the chimichurri for the steak but the waitress put another sauce (paid) on it (cafe de Paris) and when I pointed out to her that the chimichurri was missing she wanted to take my steak back to the kitchen so as not to Don't give me free sauce by accident. I refused. She also forgot the sauce for the fries. A horrible experience. I tried to explain the problem and the waitress insulted me seriously.

Unbelievably rude staff! I can't even describe how unpleasant and unwelcoming they are, even on the phone, which is quite surprising to me. The food is usually great, but I wouldn't go there just to avoid interacting with people who, as it seems, wake up on the wrong side of the bed literally everyday. What a real shame and a waste of what could have potentially been the best steak place in Lausanne! Really sad.

Remains a must, despite a reduced menu. Excellent tartare and spicy as desired (although a little too orange). Generous Parisienne and delicious salad dressing. But the waitress still hasn't learned to smile despite her availability and kindness: even under the mask, it shows and you always have the impression of annoying her... Too bad.
