Café du Soleil in Genève

Received like a dog in a bowling game because 2 of us use wheelchairs, we waited a good 10 minutes in the rain before being able to return, the restaurant not being accessible without help. We were placed near the door so as not to disturb. It says there are wheelchair accessible toilets but everything is so small and tight that it seems very surprising. There is no room for 2 people in wheelchairs. We wanted to have an aperitif before the fondue but our plate of charcuterie was not served. The fondue arrived very quickly but we didn't have any bread. Feeling like a nuisance, we were not asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, we asked for the bill and left feeling unwelcome due to a disability.

5.0 Incredible food. The atmosphere is terrific, lively, bustling, cozy. It feels like an old friend welcoming you home. Highly recommend. The mountain of fresh, homemade bread, the to die for fondue and the meringue and double cream which is criminally good. Rush to Cafe du soleil.

Excellent restaurant for eating traditional dishes, the fondue in particular, which is excellent. Very pleasant and attentive staff. On the other hand, there are a lot of people. You have to appreciate the lively atmospheres. This is not the place for a romantic outing. I recommend.

We chose this restaurant as they offered Gluten Free Bread with the cheese fondue. It was an easy 10 min taxi ride from the airport. We had fondue for 2 ppl (it was huge) with bread and chips. And pannacotta and creme brulee for dessert. Service was fast and very easy to book a table online. We ate at 5pm so it was quiet but they looked to be getting ready for a busy night when we left.

Apart from our love for this 400-year-old bistro, residents are asking questions about the pedestrianization of our square. A majority of traders too. Like diehard Gauls, we are mainly AGAINST the pedestrianization of our Place du Petit-Saconnex. The 28-month work surrounding our neighborhood should give some decision-makers pause. We will not give up, faithful to the spirit of Petit-Saconnex ☺️ Typical Geneva bistro which serves excellent cuisine. In addition to the usual menu there are always seasonal dishes. The servers are adorable and the service fast. An institution in Geneva! (:-))))

Mythical place, simple but effective

Excellent fondue, quantity a little too copious for me. It is possible to have the nun at the end, on a small plate, very pleasant. Unwise advice from the waiter for the wine (aligo with the fondue, it's too sweet...). Avoid the back room which is small and a little isolated, so the service is slow... (but I had booked last minute). Good salad sauce, but unfortunately the green salad is drowned in it (too much sauce).... Nice place, a bit of a victim of its success. Beautiful terrace, shaded, in the summer months.

Lovely atmosphere, awesome staff the fondu was good

It's a bit cramped inside the restaurant. It's crowded on weekends, but you can sit outside. We took fondue (25 francs) and cold cuts (jamon, sausage...cucumbers, onions, cheese) (26 francs). Everything is very delicious. Nice service.

Good service, attentive, pleasant and polite. I'm not an expert in fondues but I really liked this one. We ordered one to share and a meat dish and we were very good. I have read that they offer refills, this was not our case. Either way, we don't need it :)

a real restaurant for tourists.... We ordered three cheese fondues, but the fondue pot barely contained one and a half... Relatively good, but too liquid... Dried meat of average quality.... Although the servers were friendly, we waited 20 minutes after receiving the fondue to get the bread. Then another endless time to order dessert. TO FLEE. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The seat is very uncomfortable given that the bench is much too high compared to the table and moreover we could not bring it closer to us given that it was sealed to the ground. We had to stand at the very edge of the seat to reach the table, which was not at all pleasant and at the risk of ending up on the floor. As for the green salad, there was only vinegar. The tartiflette had a lot of potatoes, so we barely felt the bacon. We ordered a rare steak and we got it medium rare. And I'm not talking about the cheese fondue, when I turned my fork inside the fondue pot, the cheese turned into a block. The desserts were edible. I don't know if there has been a change of boss, but I do not recommend eating in this restaurant under any circumstances.

Very disappointed with this restaurant! We really got scammed! For a fondue to share, we had to pay for two, under the insane pretext that there were two of us. Pay attention to the waiter, despite his obsequious appearance, he is really not trustworthy...

A real scam! We found ourselves paying for two fondues even though we had only ordered one to share! In the end, a rather hefty bill of 61 Swiss francs for just a fondue and a carafe of water. To flee…

Excellent restaurant in every way

I discovered a charming corner with quirky retro decor that adds a special touch to the experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, providing fast service that adds convenience. The Aperol Spritz are delicious, the ravioli are great, but the desserts are what really stand out. You can't miss the Chocolate Mousse and the Maison; They are simply amazing. A place that combines atmosphere, service and delicious food. Highly recommended!

So glad we found this spot! We had the fondue and entrecot, which were both delicious!! I like that they let you order one serving of fondue even if you are two people, and the fondue comes with complimentary bread, potatoes, fries and pickles. Not only that but the prices are very reasonable compared to other places in Geneva. The service was outstanding, hospitable and friendly! Overall we were very happy with our dinner and we'll be sure to come back when we're in Geneva.

Wow! First of all, the service was fantastic! Our waiter made it very clear that our happiness is a priority. The wife and I stopped in here on a Thursday evening. We had reservations and were seated immediately by a window with a nice view. We came here because of the fondue 🫕 which we heard was excellent and my love had never tried it before. It did not disappoint. In fact, it was amazing!! We also ordered a steak 🥩 which came with a large dollop of shallot butter and a pile of crispy fries. The meal was exquisite and the atmosphere very comfortable. Combined with the spectacular service, this was easily one of my best dining experiences while traveling abroad! There is outdoor seating as well but it was raining.🌧️ Grappa and limoncello for dessert! Lol! Would Definitely recommend. They will see me again if I’m in the area. Thanks! Çiao!

We came at 11:00 am and were told they only do fondue after 11:30am. We waited around 30 minutes before being seated inside. We had the steak (25,90), fondue (25,90) and profiteroles (10,50) to finish. The steak was not my favourite. It was thin and too charred. It was also chewy. I would not recommend you order it. I did like the fries though (3/5) The fondue was a whole different situation. It was life changing. This was our first fondue in Switzerland and omg it was good. The flavour was deep. The combination of different cheese and the white wine was amazing. They offer the fondue with bread and you can get refills. It was just too good. I would definitely recommend you come for the fondue - don't leave Geneva without it. (10/5) The profiteroles were okay. Chocolate was a bit sweet. Wouldn't recommend. (3.5/5) The reason I gave this place a 5 was because the service was so nice and friendly. And - did I mention the fondue?

For us Turks, this place barely has the status of a third class restaurant. Unfortunately, since we cannot introduce our own flavors to the world, we are forced to taste the famous menus of these ridiculous places. You can enjoy it as much as dipping bread in melted hot cheese can be delicious. The presentation is bad, the place is unhygienic, the staff is crass, the prices are already too high. You cannot get reward for paranoia. I recommend you to try other places and flavors.

Bistrot-style restaurant - humble furniture, traditional, low-key decor. Already quite busy at 5pm, and it filled up quickly - I was glad we'd booked. I was there with relatives with children. We all enjoyed our meals. I have no reason to doubt that this restaurant deserves its high reputation.

Very qualified and friendly waiter. Good food but then for the rest, disaster. The location of the tables is too tight. If you are upstairs, you have more change in light level because it is subdued, but downstairs, it almost feels like a kitchen. The stairs are very narrow and the steps extremely small so be careful of falling!

Such a GEM in Geneva for dinner. It was spectacular! We ate there twice during our trip. The food was DELICIOUS, the staff were professional, friendly and attentive. The fondue was so tasty and the steaks, prime cut and beef are phenomenal. As well the wild boar filet mignon with cranberry pear and linguine, that was amazing. The bread its so good and so much. The atmosphere and interior are UNIQUE. Ask for a table in their smaller stone walls room. Definitely a must place for dining. Will definitely come back. Thank you!

Very crowded, not the right ambiance for a date night, but a good place for fondue with colleagues. One thing that disappointed me, though - they don't serve boiled potatoes with the cheese fondue (only the bread or French fries)

I was a little disappointed with the food as the place had come highly recommended. I ate meat and asked for it to be well done, but perhaps the waiter understood that it was more than well done. Thus, the meat arrived dry, toasted and very thin. In other words: I consider that it was not worth the price paid. Even the "fondue" deserved better flavor. It may be that other dishes are tasty, but I don't even think about going back there. As for service, I found the lady at the table to be attentive.

We were really glad that we found this restaurant during the time we were in Geneva. Every staff was extremely friendly and efficient. All the food was served quickly and fresh. Not to mention that their famous fondue certainly did not disappoint. We truly had a wonderful time there. There was only one small thing that I observed. The lighting on the second floor, which was where we were seated, had rather gray white lights. It’s quite a contrast when you come up from the ground floor which is filled with cozy warm light. I would have much preferred to sit on the ground floor. But, their fondue was simply great after all. We certainly would love to go back there when there’s a chance.

The fondu was excellent, very tasty and enough for two people. We expected more siders (they only brought bread) but it’s okay. We also tried the ravioli which were pretty good. Same for profiterole. The service was quite fast. No music in the place and unfortunately the first thing we saw when we entered was a bunch of unwashed dishes/glasses etc. I think that is something they could take care of. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience. Make sure to make a reservation to get a table.

My place to which I have been loyal for over 35 years

This is definitely a 5 star location. The fondue is legendary, the food in general is delicious and the service friendly and efficient. The waiter took an order for 6 people without writing anything down and he didn't forget anything! Haven't seen that in a while. The restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming. A great experience all round.

I tried to go in feeling very hungry, but the disgraceful team inside didn't even look at me in the eye. Even though there was room, they did not let me sit at the table. Definitely don't go, don't be fooled by google reviews. If you are at this area, you can spend your night with friendly and good service at the bistro right next to it. Even 1 star is too much for you!

Lovely atmospheric restaurant, with a warm and welcoming reception and delicious food. We had the wild boar mains and Malacoff starter to share. Service was fast, and the restaurant filled up quickly. All the food looked delicious. We were a walk in, but next time we will book. Our waiters mum lives in the Correze!

Totally overrated. Minimalist portions. Flush giving the impression of a reheated bag. Plate of charcuterie for more than 30 francs containing less than a 5 franc assortment from Denner, poor quality. Nice servers but completely overloaded. Price of drinks prohibitive. In short, for silver tourists. Those in the know will go elsewhere.

Fantastic place for fondue 🫕 My partner booked this lil gem of a place as he knew I wanted fondue during our overnight stay in Geneva. Just 20min out of the city centre this was a very popular spot with both tourists and locals alike. I'd definitely recommend booking. Our waitress was bilingual and helped with our ordering, she was even kind enough to write down the name of the Swiss wine I fell in love e with. Totally recommend this restaurant.

We were eating here in September. We loved the fondue and we also ordered a steak that was very delicious, with homemade fries. The staff was very friendly and they attended to us very quickly. We were eating on the terrace, so we enjoyed the good weather. If we return to Geneva, we will repeat here, so we recommend it to anyone.

I ordered a steak with fries, fondue, and the cheese tart. The steak was a little dry, the fondue was great, and the cheese tart was heavenly.

Love this long-time institution - however this time my friend and I were troubled by the noicyness! Seated on ground floor (usually upstairs but closed this time) we fled right after fondue to search for a quiet spot to enjoy desserts - found it down the road!
