Café Gourmet in Zürich

Stiff, mercantile, unfriendly, coin-operated service experience both in the cafe and bar, as observed in about 20 visits over past 6 years. Expensive. Coffee is prepared without love (try la stanza instead). Why then go there at all? Because of the proximity to the main train station, where good cafe service experiences are also rare. It could be so much better, but my prediction is this place gives you exactly what the owners intend, and nothing will change.

This place was lovely for tea, coffee and breakfast. They had great options for vegetarian and lighter fair meals. Atmosphere was quieter and comfortable. My only negative remark was the bitter green tea leaves. Otherwise I would love to go again to try their fruit salads and pastries.

We usually come here on Sundays and enjoy a coffee and cappuccino. The restaurant is not very big, but is very nicely decorated and has an old school style. The employees are attentive and nice. Always happy to come back

Today for business lunch in the Café Gourmet starter of marinated goat's cream cheese with wild mushroom salad, honey and nuts. Main course sole fillet in a champagne sauce with lemon risotto and glazed vegetables.

We went for coffee & apple strudel. It’s rare I would say a pastry don’t taste good , but the strudel was not. Not sure if it’s the way it’s made in Zurich or if it was an old pastry. The inside apple where tasting like made with oxydante or rotten apple 🫣🤢

3.75 stars (does this make sense) was in Zurich for a half day stopover and decided to come by for some food. your girl forgot her broke status for a second and ordered a whole beef tartare that she has never once tried in her life. point is, I have no benchmark for this. it was just really interesting to eat. loved the pairing with the salad and butter, though I doubt I ate those correctly either. the sour salad on the side wasn’t for me unfortunately. all in all, interesting experience and really friendly staff! I was properly fumbling but they were patient with me, which was lovely. the place is also rather fancy, if that counts for anything. - broke college kid

Food great some of the best eggs Benedict we’ve had, sauce was creamy and flavorful. Eggs were perfection took a while to come out but food was great!

Horrible experience. Waited for so long to sit and for a coffee. After we highlighted we were already waiting for a while for ordering, we were treated with some bad facial and non verbal expressions. Then they told us we were sitting too close to the other table which was supposed to be for two people. I can understand there’s more attention to people of the hotel, but there’s no indication about this. We just wanted a coffee and were treated as if they were paying for us. Do not recommend at all.

The surprising thing was the tea menu. Most of Zürich has a small to poor tea selection. This is one of the few that actually has a reasonable tea menu. I had the Darjeeling and it came with a timer and was brewed nicely. The other big upside is location. This is super convenient, being just opposite the main train station.
