Cafe Imhof in Bettmeralp

Desserts were very good, the selection was ok, the ambience had room for improvement and self-service coffee wasn't that nice...

Great rooms in a beautiful family business in the center of Bettmeralp. I'd love to come back.

Sunday evening 9:57 p.m., my sister-in-law and my brother would like to play a board game with me. However, I'm lying in bed after having to go to the toilet a few times. Unfortunately, because of stomach pain and nausea, I have to skip tonight's game evening. Unfortunately, this afternoon I ordered a plate of chicken nuggets with fries. I choked down one of the nuggets out of a guilty conscience about the chicken that died for me, and I couldn't do anything more after that. These nuggets have probably spent many generations in the freezer and perhaps experienced one or two temperature changes. The inside of the breading was a slimy, sticky white mass (an animal had to die for that). Summary: -5 stars for the nuggets, +5 stars for the apricot tart, 1 star for getting the money back without any discussion

After a critical assessment last year, for the sake of fairness, also the positive. Great plum cake, clean interior. Service friendly and prompt. Self-service doesn't have a negative impact. Gladly again.

Very unfortunate. It used to be nice and elegant here. Now you can see that the owner wants to sell because it has deteriorated A LOT. Hope someone buys it soon. It's a shame that things have gotten so bad here

Very well located restaurant. Beautiful view and above all beautiful pieces of pastries. We had dessert there. You have to go get the desserts yourself inside. It doesn't matter in itself because you can admire the beautiful pieces and salivate with pleasure... The team clears it out for you, however. Beautiful terrace.

A coffee in a prime location in an attractive outfit. But then, self-service with prices like service. Quality of the edibles??? In the Ovaltine the straw remained standing because blown milk was used.

Bought in the valley and stored on the alp until delicate mold adorns the pastries. I recommend that the owner let it go sooner rather than later...

Unfortunately it's not what I actually expect from this one. It's a shame I won't visit it again. Was THE ADDRESS years ago. I'm disappointed with the career. Still wish you all the best.

When the weather is great you can sit outside and eat so you have to order inside but it's simple and uncomplicated Go again Cholera was great

Nice older bakery with cafe. Bought fine bread a few times. In the cafe you have to order at the counter and the coffee costs 4.80, which I find expensive, unfortunately the croissant that came with it was dry and too hard. (in the morning at 7.45)

I have been coming to the Imhof bakery every year for over 20 years but I was very disappointed with my last visit. The boss made a mistake in my order, refused to correct it and was absolutely unfriendly. I won't come back again.

Stayed in one of the studios/rooms. Price-performance ratio is good. Rooms rather small and a bit “mixed together”. Breakfast was great.

Far too expensive, we are long-time customers of the bakery/café and are disappointed. A Schümli/Pflümli for 11.50Sfr. and the coffee spoon sinks into the coffee glass, and last but not least, you take on the job of the staff. Order and pay at the counter, it's a shame for Imhof, whoever invented that should be sent to the desert.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed in Café Imhof. You have to place your order at the counter (which doesn't bother me) BUT then you can't charge those prices. Too long waiting time just for a café. Unfortunately, the staff wasn't very friendly during our visit.

Good quality food. Service was very different, sometimes unfriendly because it was overwhelmed by the many guests. You have to wait a long time for hot food.

It's a real shame. As a kid, I used to love going to this bakery and getting their excellent walnut croissant. Unfortunately, this place has changed in a negative way. There is not much choice after 1pm and the staff is not very friendly. Really disappointed.

Ate a delicious panini and drank wine/beer with a view of the cutest terrace guests ever. The view behind it is also great. Nice and tasty stop on the Bettmeralp and super friendly service. Lots of food/drink options. Thank you!

We had booked 2 nights. Price/performance is to my taste. It has everything you need, the staff is friendly and we would love to come back.

Delicious cake + large selection

A baker who either never learned or forgot his craft. It's embarrassing that you get "fresh" bread in the morning and it actually has to be 2-3 days old as it is so hard and dry. The fact that card payments are still not accepted during Corona times shows how outdated and dusty the owner is (like his old bread). Any bread from Coop or Volg is fresher and better than these flour stones.

We were a bit disappointed. For lunch we had omelets twice with cheese and tomatoes and twice with mushrooms and ham. Some of the egg omelettes were still raw (egg whites and egg yolks as if they had been freshly whipped in an omelette). We would have expected more for the price and not just 2 tomato slices or canned mushrooms. Unfortunately the price performance is not right at all. If our daughter hadn't been unwell we would have returned everything and complained. The staff in turn was very nice.

Place def. needs refurbishment, staff rude and always in hurry, so you somehow don’t feel welcome. Food is alright, but not more. Bred not freshly made on daily basis! You can’t pay by card!

Nice place for a coffee or to eat something on the go. The card does not leave an exceptional memory.

The Imhof bakery is currently the only bakery that offers bread and baked goods alongside the Coop and the village shop. The breads are very fine according to my taste and also store quite well. Everything is attractively presented and the selection is right. What's unpleasant is that you can't pay with a card - not even in this day and age - and that the service is often unfriendly and has been that way for years. There seems to be a lack of competition to want to change something.

I bought a rogue for my little son, but you could have killed someone with it...at least it was taken back without any problem because the saleswoman also knew that it wasn't edible, but you can try it with an almost 3 year old... .

We had lunch here. The service was very friendly, the food was good. The only small complaint was the cheesecake, whose base was unfortunately no longer completely crispy.

Incredibly bad rye bread. The bread was rock hard! It's an absolute disgrace to even sell something like that. Unfortunately not edible!

We spent wonderful family holidays on Bettmeralp. The cozy apartments at the Imhof bakery and the delicious breakfast strengthened us for the hikes.

There used to be a very tasty and beautiful Rueblitorte here. Unfortunately not anymore. The Ruebli cake is not bad, but still no comparison. It's a shame...we couldn't order the cake either. The cream slice was also ok but not particularly good either.

We had a couple of cookies. Neither good nor bad. Just had an industrial quality feel. We wanted some sandwiches to take away but the choice is basic and boring, very 80s. The lady serving us was extremely unfriendly although we were the only guests. Not a pleasant break.

The brunch is always good on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, it seems that the recipe for their bread (Ruchbrot) might have changed a few years ago, it doesn't taste as good anymore. Was very disappointed when we picked up two sandwiches for the way home today. We paid CHF 11.00 each and all we got was half a baguette filled with butter and one thin layer of prosciutto (Rohschinken) with a tomato slice and a pickle. One was ordered without pickle and didn't even have a second tomato slice or lettuce leaf. For 11 bucks you would expect more....even with the mountain pricing.

Overpriced prices (10 Fr. mulled wine, 26 Fr. burger). Lunchtime takeaway menu was of very poor quality, fried soggy and dripping oil, pizza baguette not baked through, different ingredients than ordered. Owner freaked out when food was criticized

The three of us rented a room for 3 nights, a room that didn't match the price-performance ratio. Very small living space, steam vent didn't work, there was water damage in the bathroom that wasn't repaired and the hallway was damp all the time. When we moved into the room we had to put the beds on ourselves. Despite the miserable room, we had a great location and were able to go straight to the lift with the winter sports equipment.

Were there for coffee. Cozy coffee with bakery, view of chapel. The drinks were good, as you would expect. Friendly service. Somewhat old-fashioned furniture. Does not accept card payment, for which I will deduct points. This should be a matter of course, especially during Corona.

Yes he eats quite well, but we were served by a very rude person, impatient even though there was no one after us, who snorted visibly annoyed at the request to cut a takeaway sandwich in half. Perhaps if you are not friendly and capable of working with the public, it would be better to avoid working in contact with people. In fact, upon returning from the walk we decided not to return here for a slice of strudel. There are excellent and friendly alternatives.

In times of COVID-19, it is unreasonable that staff are only allowed to accept cash as a means of payment (imposed by the boss) and incomprehensible as a customer. Please modify!!! Products are great and recommended.

Not recommended in my opinion. Overpriced and only possible to pay in cash. If you're sitting in the coffee shop and want something sweet from the bakery, you have to get it yourself and pay for it separately (again, only in cash).

Coffee schnapps is a total demolition. At 11.- it costs around 3.- more than up on the mountain and is carelessly prepared. This cafe capitalizes on its location and neglects quality. It's a shame if it's just about making money, there's a total lack of customer orientation. It's a shame for this top location in the middle of the Alp.

Well, it's the only real Beck on Bettmeralp and so you can apparently afford a lot. The service is usually in a bad mood. We used to have coffee croissants on Saturday mornings - there's no such thing as ordering breakfast or leaving. Last year everything was put away half an hour before the store closed, and when I asked if they had this or that they grumbled that they were already in the back. Card payment is not possible - probably because you urgently need to save the few% commission. Well, that's a shame. We don't buy anything there anymore even though the location is nice and the products are ok.

The waitress didn't speak German and he calculated his own tip. Absolute impudence. Food massively overpriced for a bakery in the mountains. Not recommendable!

Very fine bread... we then went there again for an ice cream dessert.. this was a real disaster.. I have rarely seen and tried such a bad coupe Denmark and such a poorly prepared ice cafe.. we couldn't eat it. . for the bakery the bread 4 stars .. for the dessert <glacen> under one star... actually no star it was so bad..

When the weather is nice, having breakfast on the terrace is one of the highlights of every one of our holidays. Magnificent panorama with good food and coffee specialties.

Good food and very friendly and motivated service. Children also seem to be really welcome here, nice! Tip: Cholera with salad. Not five stars because it was a bit expensive and the dessert wasn't entirely convincing this time (crumb cake was no longer completely fresh and the apricot strudel with vanilla sauce didn't seem homemade). However, the cappuccino that came with it was great and there was also extra chocolate for the children. We will be back!

What's wrong with the rascals? Did you use a different dough? They now taste like a cookie 😢
