Café Knaus in Oensingen

The service was repeatedly very unfriendly and disrespectful. Although it wasn't busy, we weren't served for a long time.

Good coffee, fine things. Rather expensive and I don't feel like children are wanted.

Addendum 03/24/2024: First, thank you for the answer! Now there's news from my side... today there was the ice cream. The last impression was completely confirmed today! I was served again by the same lady. Really super friendly and even knew what I had ordered last week. That deserves my utmost respect! The ice cream was delicious - I'll definitely be back, thank you! 03/17/2024: I was never happy here before - tonight I thought I'd try it again... a lot has changed. It was worth it! Top service! and food was good. Next time we'll have ice cream 🥳

The dessert leaves nothing to be desired. It's a shame there isn't a children's corner here, as there are still a lot of children visiting, so the children could be better occupied. There would be space. ;)

We received wonderful service from Mr. Kartasang. You don't often find such good and attentive service in local restaurants. Unfortunately, the acoustics are often very loud. Otherwise everything is always great.

I wanted to get my child a sandwich and something to drink after he vomited in the car. I wasn't allowed to sell anything to drink (only in the cafe) because the shop was closed, even though the refrigerator with the drinks was in the sales room and the drinks were clearly displayed there. Even after describing the situation, I wasn't even offered a cup of water. I could have gone to the cafe, but with my daughter vomiting everywhere and possibly having to vomit again, that really wasn't an option. What was also very tedious was that saleswoman 1 didn't even understand me in standard German and saleswoman 2 only got around to it after explaining it x times, but she was also more stubborn than willing to serve me.

WOW I went to Café Knaus with my partner for the first time today and I can only say WOW from the starter (broccoli soup) to the main course (schnitzel with fresh vegetables and fries) and the menu dessert (choggimouse and another mouse) everything was perfect, nothing to complain about, the service staff were quick and friendly, so I can really only recommend it

Too few staff, the service staff is overwhelmed and can no longer do justice to the guests, this is sad

The Solothurn cake no longer corresponds to the correct recipe, a shame. The other cakes also no longer taste like Knaus, a shame. The fact that the service staff's clothes are brown and the packaging is brown is not as fresh as the Knaus made it out to be.

A lot has changed in the last few days. New boss, and if you come with two people. You are squeezed into a corner at a small table for two. Kaffee Knaus has suffered from its image.

Absolutely AWESOME! We regularly go to Cafe Knaus on Sundays and despite all the stress, the staff are very friendly and sometimes even funny :-) The food is great. Almost everything except the fish menu was always fresh and VERY DELICIOUS. Almost as good as the “grosi”😉 The staff is also very, very helpful. My girlfriend lost her ring (stupid of her) we were able to leave a phone number in case it was found. A few hours later, when there wasn't so much going on, we took the time and found the ring. HAMMER! Thank you very much and keep it up😍 Can't understand the negative reviews at all. Don't think that this is the staff's fault😅 Unfortunately, many people have problems with themselves and then like to let it out to others!

Café Knaus is very well known and popular and is always very full and therefore noisy, so no 5 stars. (Were there 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) But service is top, very large selection at the counter (shop) everything your heart desires. Not exactly cheap. This is a superb place and of very very good quality, I stop there every time I go to Zurich from Geneva.

Took a little trip and stopped at this big café. It has plenty of parking and is busy on Sundays. Nevertheless, we found a place. The selection of cakes is huge and leaves nothing to be desired. You can also enjoy other dishes here. The waitress tries very hard to remain calm even in the hustle and bustle.

Unfortunately, Café Knaus has declined significantly in recent years since the pandemic. Some time ago the store was completely revamped, receiving a completely new interior and an expanded terrace with a pool area (which is only decorative). The menu has become smaller since the pandemic, the food has unfortunately increasingly lost quality since then and prices have shot through the roof since the pandemic and inflation madness. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio no longer corresponds to a suitable level and the serving staff has unfortunately also slacked off too soon. It's a shame that it got to the Knaus's head either because of the pimped up ambience or the crises or both. I won't be going there again in the future. I wish all employees a good time.

It's a really nice warm cozy café (restaurant). The Patieseri is very fine. It was a shame that the lady who took the order didn't greet us. We're often in trouble, this has never happened before, so we're talking about it 😏

Well, today it was that time again. I was once again lucky enough to eat a delicious piece of cake from Café Knaus. This time without picking it up in person. And again there was this thought that the staff wasn't up to the mark. Maybe I was just unlucky during my 10 visits (approximately). If you arrive 30 minutes before closing time, the staff will hiss at you and tell you that if you do that, you'll be dead... If you look at the cakes at the counter before sitting down, you are rudely informed that you have to order outside. It seems as if you are not allowed to first see what is available and what it looks like. At lunch, orders are forgotten, drinks are served after the meal that were ordered 45 minutes before. But the patisserie is A1 and that's the only reason I'm still a guest. Another suggestion: if you give the customer a raspberry cake and a Solothurn cake close together in the box and store them in the refrigerator for 3 hours, you have Solothurn with raspberry flavor. Separating neutral cakes and sour cakes would make the palate even happier. And a big compliment to the employee of Asian descent, he was in charge of the outside area when I was directed to my place at the counter. He did NOT give me the feeling that he had to close down, he was very friendly, prompt and, despite the stress, he was proactive. If all the employees were always so committed, I would eat with you from morning to evening 7/7. Sorry, that had to come out now.

Great ambience. A real eye-catcher after the renovation. The offering is quite diverse and there is certainly something for everyone. The service is great and what we like best is that it is one of the few coffee shops that are also open on Sundays. We recommend.

Suitable for dog owners. Dogs are allowed in the heated winter garden. Sandwiches and strawberry cake were delicious. Super friendly service

Ordered tarte flambée and don't think it's recommended. Surface very dark and already hard, floor too hard at the edges and very soft in the middle. Spice not evenly distributed. Price too expensive for this size tarte flambée. The salad I ordered didn't convince me either.

Super nice service and the food and atmosphere were very good. Will definitely come again. We made a complaint because the price of the Spätzli pan was not correct on the invoice. The waitress was very nice but we weren't really happy with the answer. If it says so on the card, we would have had to get the 3.00 CHF back or you should have informed us when ordering that it was 3.00 CHF more expensive. Unbelievable because the problem was known. The answer that it was saved in the cash register wasn't really satisfactory for us. A pity.

Hello, we went for breakfast today because it's always really good at your place. Unfortunately, the staff expressed their personal differences very loudly at the buffet. It was very loud so you could hear the bad words. It was very unpleasantly loud. Something like this doesn't belong at a buffet, but should be discussed somewhere in the back.

I was pleasantly surprised by this bakery. I actually wanted a Gilpferli for dinner ha. However, there was only cake left. Then decided on a CordonBleu. Good choice. This is not a simple bakery, this is a bar and restaurant as well. Very cool.

Unfortunately I can't say much about it except that I waited at the counter for 5 minutes to buy 2 pieces of cake. 4 employees looked at me, but were neither greeted nor said anything to me, such as "someone is coming to you soon." Instead, I heard how they complained about the guests and how they couldn't order everything at once.

The food is top! However, there is one employee (Nicole Schmidlin) who is very unfriendly! We were here more than a week ago and had to wait 15 minutes!!! wait for 1 coffee. When we raised this respectfully, she became angry and made inappropriate comments! A few days ago we were here again and ordered from the same employee. And again she didn't feel like taking orders and seemed very monotonous! We also had to wait a very long time for our order. It's a shame that you have to treat customers like that.

I think it's very nice to eat there. Generally the food is very good. However, it would be great if the employees made it clear to customers that the parking spaces in front of the entrance (max. 10 minutes) are really only there to briefly buy something and leave. If all the parking spaces are full and you just want to get some bread, you have almost no choice but to go to the yellow parking lot, which shouldn't be the case. Even if it rains heavily, you just have to deal with the fact that you will get wet.

Delicious food, varied selection. It even has a children's corner! Unfortunately, the service was sometimes unfriendly and that is unfortunate. I understand if the employees are stressed because there was a lot going on in the café. At the same time, I have worked in service myself and know that friendliness and courteous service are simply the be-all and end-all in a service company.

As a regular customer, I was unfortunately disappointed today. The desserts are always really great. But the warm kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. The schnitzel today had a strange taste and was still floating in oil. When I then kindly asked to bring this to the chef for testing, I was given an additional portion without asking - which I didn't even want. The vegetables ordered as a side dish were definitely just warmed up & even the broccoli looked like carrots. Pity. In general, the constructive feedback was received rather negatively, which I also find to be a shame...

We were entertained here today. 3 full menus with starter, salad, main course, dessert, espressos and drinks: CHF 105.- Quality 10 / 10 points without ifs and buts.. Digestive walk is beneficial 😅

We were there on a hot day to eat a coupe. Conclusion: The coups were very tasty. And the service was also very friendly and helpful. We'd love to come back.

The cakes/tarts are to die for. I drive here especially from Zurich for cake to take away. And this trip is always worth it!!!! Keep it up!

Very much homemade and regional

In the last few weeks I have visited the "Knaus" twice. What the service employees have to do; I wouldn't put up with it, endless stress and a smile for the guest... how about hiring a little more staff? The Silser sandwich with ham (half a slice) was a disgrace for the price. Location great but the waiting times... Please no return platitudes from the boss.

The desserts and ice creams are now again and again absolutely recommended. There hasn't been enough to eat yet.

Large parking lot, attentive, friendly and fast service, fine Solothun cake. Very good Wienerschnitzel with fries served on a wooden board, fine Riz Casimir, good cream schnitzel with noodles, fine fish crispy in oufibiere dough with fries, good pate with vegetables and fries or pasta, fine chicken breast with salad as a fitness plate and good spring rolls. I always enjoy going to Knaus for lunch and dinner. Very nice new pool area.
