Beautiful Cafe in Schaffhausen city center

The atmosphere of the cafe was very suitable to the town, with a very nice and warm decoration!! The person who served us was the kindest, and the food, the sweets and the hot chocolate was perfect!!! The tables on the street are so cute!!

We had Wiener Eiskaffee and Schweizer Eiskaffee, which was so delicious. The service was so satisfying and polite and nice waitresses.

I had a family holiday in Schaffhausen, and had brunch here. It was a pleasant surprise 🤗 The person who serving us was soooooo warm and kind, and the food, tea/coffee was excellent!!! It didn’t have a modern deco, but we thought it was suiting the city🤩

Cafe in the city right in the heart of Schaffhausen, set up in the alley, everything at a slight angle... There are some specialties in the coffee and tea area... Small things to eat... including quiches, super delicious and sweet things... Do you meet there or will be seen... 😘

I just managed to get the last place outside. During midday, the outdoor spaces are only intended for lunch. But it's worth it!

The iced coffee is heavenly delicious! I was here with my friends for a short coffee break. They have this interesting interior inside. The staff were friendly as they let me taking pictures of its interior.

My wife and I love this place. The staff is super friends, there is a small selection of toys for our little one to play with, and the food is fantastic. Go on a Sunday and get the Israeli Breakfast... it is phenomenal!

The food and drink was very good, very friendly, but unfortunately very tight. The person sitting next to you can hear everything, which means it's always a bit loud inside.

Have been here once with a guest first time in Schaffhausen and wanted to show a commonly well known place here. The service was embarrassingly slow and inattentive. The coffee was made as I know it from the 1990ies. Milk too hot and bitter. I wonder who trained the barista.

Delicious, sweetly decorated, very friendly staff! Quite crowded on the weekend and a bit loud at the bar. There are also gluten-free and lactose-free options. But be careful, it has to be clearly communicated: chive bread with salad was ordered with gluten-free bread, it came that way, but there were bread croutons in the salad (not gluten-free)...

This is one of the harder reviews to write about. I have visited here many times and can honestly say the quality of food is fabulous. Always fresh. Honestly no disappointments ever. Saying that the service is hit and miss. Some of the staff are super friendly and others can actually be very rude. This is quite sad as Vordergasse are faultless on the quality of the food but the service let’s them down at times and then you can leave with a bittersweet taste. If pleasant service at all times is not a criteria then you will absolutely enjoy every single meal you have here , if your meal also revolves around polite service then that could be hit and miss. One day I had coffee here in the morning and the waiter was so rude to the person who was in my company that it had put them off visiting again in the near future , I then returned in the afternoon and was served by one of the friendliest waiters in a long time. I totally understand customers can be rude, however this particular customer politely asked why one of our parties drink did not arrive with everyone else’s. Instead of a polite reply they said look at the menu ‘it’s explained in there’. Firstly that person in the party might not be familiar with German as the menu is in German , secondly a polite explanation would have been more appropriate, especially for the high standard of Vordergasse.

Super friendly service and we felt welcome despite our bike clothing. Super delicious cakes and a great selection of tea etc.

Cozy at home feeling ☕️ The staff are the friendliest! With amazing wide range of drinks and foods. The quiche was fantastic! The cakes were unique and both super tasty 😋 Come give it a try, definitely won’t be disappointed!

Simply the best cafe in the world! I've been coming here for years and the service is always cheerful and courteous, even when the café is full of visitors. There is a large selection of special drinks and delicious food. Be sure to reserve a table for breakfast on the weekend - it's worth it.

Interesting “retro café” with charm and great service. -> no reservation possible <- Here you find yourself in a kind of time travel in terms of the facility. Totally interesting. Cozy and yet a little hectic. Small tables, little space but pleasant. For breakfast or coffee. However, prices are higher and the portions are small.

Today I was with my colleague in Café Vordergasse. The food was good, the salad came with a carelessly prepared piece of bread. When we ordered we were told that the mixed salad also contained tomatoes, which unfortunately wasn't the case. Of course this is just a small thing but at this price you can really expect more. The real disappointment was when we got the bill. We were charged just under 5 francs for a glass of tap water. Who pays 5 francs for 33dl of lukewarm tap water? For the price you might expect chilled water from a glass bottle, or a whole carafe. You can get this cheaper in restaurants in Zurich or London! Please put a drinks menu at the table so you'll think twice about whether you want water or something else. In general, the owner should adjust his prices to the quality and quantity or vice versa. I left almost 27 francs for little food and a ridiculously small glass of water. It's sad when you know that there are many other restaurants next door with better service and value for money. In addition, clean toilets are really to be expected given the price; on my last visit it was dirty and disgusting. Today I wanted to give the café a second chance, unfortunately my opinion about this café was confirmed. It's a shame that guests are being ripped off like this. It would actually be a cozy little café with a lot of charm...

I discovered a gem 🤩🤗!!! Bistro atmosphere, excellent food, very good coffee, an excellent choice of teas 🙏🏻 and the staff are very friendly 💝❤️🥰. And of course, the tarts and cakes are a must-try.

If you visit this cafe, be sure to order a Swiss ice cream cafe. Yes. 9.90 francs is a lot of money. But this ice cream parlor is worth every damn penny. We haven't had an ice cream parlor taste experience like this for what feels like 30 years. And when my husband says something like that, it counts three times.

Small and elegant café on the main street of Schaffhausen. It has a small terrace. It's usually full. The atmosphere is cheerful and the staff friendly. Service a bit slow. The breakfast is expensive but complete. The cakes are very good and generous, lots of variety. I wasn't impressed with the hot chocolate, but the cream was delicious. We didn't like the coffee.
