Went in the off season in the morning. it was peaceful and you could imagine yourself in a different era

Beautiful castle, part of the Bellinzona fortress complex, a UNESCO heritage site. Breathtaking panorama. Museum and exhibition hall nothing exceptional, nice video on the history of the fortress...there is a walkway along the walls. Recommended in good weather. I recommend purchasing the single ticket for all three fortresses. There is very convenient paid parking

An absolute must if you are not the area. Easy to get to. So well maintained with gorgeous views of snow capped mountains. There is no entrance fee. For those that may need assistance there is a lift which takes you up into the castle area, for those that like to walk there are a couple of entry points. Such a well preserved heritage site.

The castle we liked the most of the 3 we visited in Bellinzona. Very large spaces and spectacular views. Reachable both on foot, like us, and by car. Possibility of climbing the towers, underground rooms and along the walls.

Classic visit that cannot be missed.

It is no wonder that this complex was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This example of an Alpine fortress is not only picturesque like few others, but it illustrates a lifestyle and an era in an exemplary way. The three castles are of rare beauty and are very well restored. The wall joins two of them and is articulated with the city, offering a unique walk from a privileged point of view. As if something were missing, the natural landscape that surrounds Bellinzona, especially if it is crowned with snow, provides a perfect background for contemplating the monuments. I have not given the maximum score while waiting for the two castles closed for repairs to reopen.

Beautiful, preserved and kept to perfection, we spent a couple of hours among the old walls and tunnels, it felt like we were in the Middle Ages.

For those who have read a bit of history bools, these castles are a display of strategic gameplay, total art of construction and defense! Spare at least 1.5 hour here, climb the tower, enjoy stunning views!

Beautiful place Bellinzona Switzerland

One of the best Castle, is Free entrance unless you wish to go up to the tower there is a charge. You must take a lift, is located at the end of dark tunnel and hidden at the end of plaza. The view is astonishing but ver windy!

Best castle visited. Well kept and unique

With the modern train “Treno Gottardo” to Bellinzona. Visit to the three castles and the great wall (“Castelgrande”, “Montebello”, “Sasso Corbaro” and the “Murata”). Then visit the art museum “Villa dei Cedri”. Finally, an aperitif in Bellinzona. With the “Treno Gottardo” back to Zurich. The visit to the three castles and the wall including the museums was impressive, exciting and entertaining. Conclusion: recommended!

Spectacular but very Swiss and squared. The guy did not allow visiting the towers coz 5 minutes had elapsed from closing time. Nobody else was there but us. So now you know, they don't budge an inch. Allow plenty of time.

During a trip by public transport, I took the ICE train to the Ticino capital. The walk through the old town was great. Many time-honored houses enrich the alleys and squares, the city walls are clearly visible, as are the three castles. Restaurants and shops of all kinds invite you to linger. A good espresso costs a modest CHF 2.50. There is a market in Bellinzona every Saturday. Bellinzona is worth a visit!

The castles themselves are very beautiful and worth seeing. Castle Grande and Montebello can be reached on foot within 15 to 20 minutes. The path goes through the old town. However, the path is mountainous. The Castello can be reached from Montobello in 30 minutes. But the path is very steep. No problem with the car. Free parking space right in front. As I said, the castles and walls are in excellent condition. Absolutely recommended. BUT: I had previously gotten the Bellinzona Pass online. It said that this included access to all 3 castles and the museum. However, the 3 castles are free and the pass is only for the museums. Then please say so. In my opinion, the museums are not worth 28 francs. Very small exhibitions and usually only in Italian! This can be done better. P. S the pass gives further discounts throughout Switzerland but that might not be of any use to you!

Super cool place to explore! Walk the top of the wall, or opt for walking inside of it. Explore the grounds, or sit at the restaurant or grotto and enjoy a drink/meal. Really a very very cool place. Make sure you centre yourself under the shaft at the base of the lifts and say a few words 😉 crazy acoustics

Imposing castle kept in an impeccable way. It was created as a protective barrier for Bellinzona together with the walls that are still visible. It is accessible via steps and a lift. Worth visiting if you go to Belli area.

The castle closest to the center is beautiful and can be reached on foot or by lift in a few minutes. It has a grotto and a restaurant, a beautiful view of the city, various events especially in summer and you can also visit the towers up to the top.

Visit only the exterior, the essentials are accessible free of charge. The ticket is at a Swiss price for 3 tiny rooms without any interest!
