Small Vietnamese restaurant with a small menu. I was surprised and didn't expect much, but I have to admit that the food was really tasty. Had the feeling it might be a bit expensive (but where isn't it in Switzerland) I had a starter and a red curry as a main course. The service was friendly but still has potential in terms of attention. Otherwise everything is good.

Here the boss's work is taken away. It is Vietnamese cuisine, prepared by hand, no semi-products mixed together. We always enjoy sitting at the table here. Here you are a guest. Fresh products are put on your plate and it's definitely worth the money.

Great Vietnamese restaurant. In addition to German, they also speak Dutch. Had here for a successful restaurant in Boxtel in the Netherlands. Very friendly and hospitable owners, children and employees. No effort is too much to provide you with a delicious meal and a pleasant time. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

What a delightful find in Appenzell! A departure from the local cuisine much appreciated with fresh flavors and beautiful presentations. We over-ordered but savored every delicious bite. Rocky, the resident pooch, decided we were worth visiting and playing with. Very nice owner/family provided a warm welcome and kind service.

Our family had a fantastic lunch at Chanh Restaurant in Appenzell today, we are visiting the area for a few days. The warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately put us at ease. Authentic Vietnamese cuisine met us at every turn. We were impressed with the fresh ingredients and the perfect balance of flavors. The kids loved the spring rolls, and the green curry was an absolute delight! Not to mention the excellent, speedy service which completed our memorable dining experience. We were talking to the son of the owner, very nice person. Definitely a 5-star gem in Appenzell, we can't wait to return!

I had dinner here on my first evening in Appenzell. There is a terrace but inside it is very cozy. Very friendly service. I chose the chicken bowl and drank an Appenzeller Weizenbier with it. Excellent quality and quantity! One of the best Vietnamese dishes I have ever eaten.

Can really recommend the restaurant! Good and fresh cuisine and very, very friendly staff. Anyone who didn't like salad before will definitely get a taste for it at Chanh and become a salad lover... Also intended as a recommendation for parents with teenagers :)

We ordered Pho Bo 🍲 and a lunch menu. Phobo can be smelly depending on how they cooked. This place wasn’t and the meal quality was also very impressive. a Vietnamese iced coffee was also very good!! 💓

Once again we were able to enjoy a great takeaway meal. As usual, just A1 every time!

We went to Chanh for lunch. My son had the dish of the day, a curry with rice, which was fine. I ordered the Pho Bo, longing for good Vietnamese food. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment, tasting nothing like Pho but rather like a bad generic broth. I shared the feedback politely but the staff did not seem to care much. I would not come back.

Highly recommend the udon noodles and pho bo. Try making your own flavor of soup with their sauces, it's really ngon (delicious!) and filling. Great for rainy weather or when you crave for something light and flavorful. Affordable, variety of choices and serves vegan dishes too! Love the ambiance, it's dainty on the outside, cozy and warm in the inside. Staff are friendly and homely :)

If you like to diversify flavors, here is a good suggestion. Some typically Asian dishes among others that are more conventional and of good quality. Terrace service to enjoy the view over the most popular square in the Village of Appenzell.

Was craving Vietnamese food for dinner during vacation in Appenzell. We ordered the spring rolls, steamed dumpling, the fried duck, the Vietnamese pancake, and the Mango cream dessert. Everything was amazing! We totally ordered too much food, but it was sooo worth it 🙂👍

It's a very good Vietnamese restaurant in Appenzell. Who would've thought you'll find a very decent Vietnamese restaurant here in the mountain region in Switzerland, but I'm glad we did--a little off the beaten path. Service was excellent. A young waitperson promptly showed up at our street side table and start talking to us. After finding very quickly we preferred English menu, he went back to get a couple of them for us. Drinks orders were taken, and by the time they were delivered to our table, we were ready to give him our choices of food. Food...my Phở Bò was very good. Beef was a little tougher than what I'm used to in the US, but I'm used to well-done beef served in Germany. Broth may have not been the best I ever had, but it was still very good and tasty. What it's translated as beef balls (meat balls) were very solid and had a good flavor. My wife enjoyed her vegetables stir-fry with chicken very much. It was a very delightful dining experience in this quaint Swiss town full of cheese and chocolates. It certainly offered a very good alternate choice for dining experience.

It was not the first time we visited the restaurant, but this time both our 16 and 18 year old girls were with us. They both loved it. Delicious food, large portions, wonderful environment. We look forward to going again. I highly recommend it.

Excellent hospitality - right in the heart of Appenzell! Today I had dinner with friends at the Hörnli restaurant. I was completely satisfied. The family-run company offers great Vietnamese cuisine. In addition to an attractively furnished ambience, the service is also extremely courteous. We were even allowed to finish playing our Jass after opening hours without being disturbed. Despite defeat in Jass; Gladly again!

Everything is simply delicious and the team is very friendly, accommodating and warm. can recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Tasty Vietnamese restaurant with a friendly service. They are sometimes closed during afternoons, I would suggest calling them beforehand.

It's great how quickly you get seated, if there's something on the table, it gets away quickly and the table is cleaned, great! The huge soup was heavenly good and real enough! A place where you can get your food quickly and it's really tasty. Try it, it's worth it.
