Ciao Chao in Samedan

The very well-kept restaurant is on the first floor. We ate Asian food. Very nice service, fresh food, great ambience and extremely fair prices! We will come back next time we stay in Samedan!

Great discovery during our visit to Samedan for the Glacier Express circuit. This restaurant located at the crossroads of St. Moritz and Pontresina presents an astonishing mix between pizzeria and Thai. We opted for Thai and were not disappointed. Accompanied by a very good regional beer, a bowl of Edamame beans for an aperitif with a vegetable omelette and a very tasty soy sauce, everything was there for a pleasant aperitif for two. Then two fabulous and hearty Thai menus crowned this great evening for two. Don't hesitate to have a good time there, the atmosphere is also very pleasant.

The whole package was just perfect! The pizza: best ever, Thai food excellent. The service is simply wonderful!

a very welcome surprise. Passing by it looks like any other ice cream shop. When you sit down you think they will have sandwiches, pizzas and not much more. But instead they have some amazing oriental street food dishes. Applause for the chef who is truly talented. Coming from Milan, where oriental cuisine offers many opportunities, and having traveled enough, I can say that this "anonymous" bar offers one of the best oriental menus I've tried. It could be better valued. The service is also very attentive and very kind. We had a great time and will be back. Danke!

Ciao chao is on August 1st. the food/foccacia, quiche was donated: it was so delicious, it was the best advertisement for this restaurant. And very motivated and friendly staff

This restaurant is phenomenal!! Very cool menu.. Asian inspired but also served pizza. We had the noodles and the schezwan fish.. INCREDIBLE!! I wish we could have ordered the pizza as they looked good .. crème brûlée for desert was just awesome!!! If you are in the area a must must place to eat .. service was fantastic and had a quick conversation with the chef who I could tell takes great pride in his craft

The best place in Samedan to eat or just have a drink. Unique pizzas and Chinese dishes that are prepared first-class. The service is very good, courteous and makes you feel more like you are with friends than in a restaurant. We went twice for dinner and once for a beer. Come again

Real treasure in Oberengadin. Sounds like Italian and Asian cuisine can’t match, but it does very well. We were staying in Samedan for three days and went there every day. Creative menu, laid-back ambience, artistic interior, attention to details and very friendly staff - feels like you want to come back. We’ve had veggie and meat gyozas, salat (tasty focaccia!), pizzas (very creative toppings), chow mien, crispy beef, cheesecake, panna cotta - everything was great. Also generous choice of drinks. Big plus for being opened during off season time.

The food was good, but the portions were very small and too expensive for the service. The two of us paid 100 francs and had to eat something at home. We were also forgotten twice (once with the drinks and once a main course was missing). Overall, the service seemed overwhelmed. I also consider it an affront if you are informed when making your reservation that you are only allowed to visit the restaurant for the duration of a “first stage”. In the future, I'd rather go to a restaurant where I can forget about time.

Delicious food, freshly prepared.

We ate at Ciao Chao for the first time on January 4th, 2023 and were absolutely thrilled by the staff, the ambience and of course the delicious food. There is pizza “with a difference”, i.e. not a classic pizza, but creative variants, for example with pomegranate seeds and exotic delicacies. The cuisine is half Italian, half Asian. Both are great!

Very warm and friendly service. Fine pan-Asian map. In contrast to many long-established restaurants in the Engadine, you can see the love for gastronomy, the creativity and the motivation to offer guests a wonderful evening. Not for people who prefer "traditional" restaurants

The food is a mix between Asian Fusion and Italo Pizzeria. Not spectacular but within a good framework. Recommended for families. Service was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the room was a bit noisy as the restaurant was full when we visited.

The place is very interesting, as is the Pizza, It's not easy to find a Gourmet style menu in Switzerland, only here you can find a good Pizza with really special and good products. I recommend it 😉.

Very nice fresh and international spicy and not fake swiss spicy. Super fresh and meat to perfection done. The prices are a bit spicy too especially drinks but meat, freshness and spiciness right on point and very friendly staff makes it a 5 star anyway. I'll be back

Italian-Asian Fusion Kitchen...simply delicious.

Very good cuisine with a good mix of Italy and Asia, I recommend the gyozas which were excellent. Small downside on the service which was a little slow due to the staff more interested in cleaning the room and preparing the next service rather than finishing with the customers still seated.

Food: Focaccia, 1 of the best in Engadin, 5*. Kung Pao Chicken 3*. Vietnamese Rolls 1*. Service: Quite slow.

Weird combination but the food is terrific

Food was good. Strange and surprising items on the bill.

The crispy beef was great. The meat in Bao Ciao Chao was quite dry. The Pho Bo Kids tasted almost exclusively of cloves. Opinions differ when it comes to pizza: I liked it a lot, but my wife and daughter found it too oily. The service was rather modest. My cocktail arrived when I was almost finished with the appetizer. It wasn't possible to order a drink again because the waitress didn't come back and never glanced at us. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full, and yet the service seemed overwhelmed or not very motivated. So we skipped the espresso and dessert.

Fine concept for “Asian meets Italian” very friendly and competent service. For the first, but certainly not last, time today we have the Asian version with a very fine Vietnamese salad roll, followed by noodle soup and nasi goreng. Dessert chosen at the table with mango cheesecake, a delight! Absolute recommendation!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and looks very interesting thanks to the mix of Italian and Asian food. The service is very friendly. The place was almost full at 7 p.m. For starters I had edamame, which was warm and well salted. Very fine. For the main course I had the Michelangelo pizza, but unfortunately I didn't like it at all. Unfortunately, the Mona Lisa pizza we first ordered was no longer available. For dessert I had a Creme Brulet and unfortunately I didn't like it either... but my colleague liked everything very much 😊👌🏻

Actually a big restaurant. But with the two floors it seems rather small and cozy. You can go here dressed however you want and feel comfortable. The restaurant is a special combo: pizza and Chinese. The pizzas are very good. They have a wafer-thin base and a large edge. Mine was very tasty. And for the starter there was a salad, the name of which I unfortunately don't remember, but it was also very tasty. Only the tables were a bit small. The service was great. Communication was only possible in English. Conclusion: a visit here is worth it, if only for the pizzas. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of it.

Neapolitan pizza in the Engadine Excellent!!!!

Sorry, but we've been sitting on the terrace for over 10 minutes now and want to order, but even though people have looked at us from inside several times, no one comes to take our order. Well then, let's go again. Just FYI, there was hardly anything going on. 😔

Ciao Chao is an interesting and original venue located in Samedan, in the western area of ​​the country, a few steps from the Inn river. It offers a cuisine with strong Asian influences, also making Neapolitan-style pizzas. The staff is young, friendly and dynamic. The sandwich filled with ribs that I ordered was good, as was the pizza (better in my opinion than many places in Italy). Excellent quality/price ratio. I will return and recommend it.

Excellent restaurant. Small but with a nice atmosphere. We went on a Saturday evening and it was quite full so I recommend making a reservation. The vegetable Gyoza and the Pablito pizza (with the ricotta-filled crust 😋) were absolutely fabulous. The staff was also super friendly and helpful.
