Unfortunately, the kitchen wasn't that flexible and couldn't offer us pasta with any sauce. So we took the vegan menu with burgers. Unfortunately it was dry (no sauce) and the fries on the side weren't great either. It's a shame that we weren't as enthusiastic this time as we were last year.

Wir haben uns die Mühe gemacht, ans Ende von Ascona zu fahren. Die letzten Bewertungen, die ich hier gelesen hatte, haben mich motiviert, dort einen Tisch zu reservieren. Im Nachhinein, hätte ich die anderen späteren Bewertungen genauer anschauen müssen. Denn leider hat dieses Restaurant überhaupt nicht überzeugt. Vielleicht wäre es besser gekommen, hätte das Wetter gehalten und wir hätten nicht drinnen sitzen müssen. Drinnen war es voll und komplett überhitzt. Man kriegte fast keine Luft. Corona lässt grüssen. Es gab irgendwie keine optimale Lüftung. Die Bedienung hat uns am Anfang herzlich empfangen, aber danach links liegen lassen. Das Essen war lieblos angerichtet und schmeckte durchschnittlich. Leider war das bestellte Ossobuco komplett ausgetrocknet, so dass ich fast keinen Bissen runter brachte. Für CHF 38.- hätte ich mir Besseres gewünscht. Wir waren am Schluss einfach froh, das Restaurant zu verlassen. Denn irgendwie hatte es zusätzlich durch das eher ältere Klientel eher etwas von einem Alters-/Pflegeheim, so dass auch die Atmosphäre das Ganze nicht retten konnte.

Bei unserem Besuch im Collinetta konnten wir die überwältigende Lage mit Sicht über den Lago Maggiore in vollen Zügen geniessen. Das Gesamtkunstwerk wurde ergänzt durch ein sehr leckeres Abendessen, welches äusserst freundlich und kompetent serviert wurde. Als Pünktchen auf‘s i kamen wir noch in den Genuss eines Livekonzertes, welches von einer motivierten und talentierten Jugend-Big-Band vorgetragen wurde. Ich ging mit meinem Freund mit doch relativ hohen Erwartungen aufgrund der TripAdvisor-Bewertungen in dieses Restaurant. Das Essen war ok aber nicht top. Es fehlte für mich die Raffinesse. Die Portionen waren aber sehr gross und fair. Bedienung war stets freundlich. Den ganzen Abend hat eine extreme laute BigBand direkt vor unseren Tischen gespielt. Leider war dies sehr sehr störend und hat auch etwas die schöne Sicht verdeckt. Man konnte keine Unterhaltung am gleichen Tisch führen weil man einander nicht verstanden hat. Zudem hatte man durch die Hitze und die laute(!) Musik fast schon Kopfschmerzen und wollte möglichst schnell wieder gehen.

Da das Restaurant von TripAdvisor als Nr 2 in Ascona geführt wird, habe ich einen Abend einen Tisch Online gebucht. Die Lage des Restaurants ist wunderschön mit Blick über den Lago Maggiore. Leider war das Essen mittelmässig und lieblos auf dem Teller serviert. Leider eine grosse Enttäuschung.

Sehr schönes Ambiente mit super Aussicht, nette Bedienung, gutes Essen, normale Schweizer Preise. Wir kommen gerne wieder, vielleicht auch mal zur Übernachtung im angeschlossenen Hotel. Achtung bei Google Maps: Wer von Seepromenade Ascona zu Fuss gehen will, muss auf Höhe der Metall–Überführung den Berg hoch, denn der Gehweg endet ca 1km vorher und man müsste sonst auf der vielbefahrenen Hauptstrasse laufen.

We visited this restaurant hotel as our guests recommended it and I must say it was a great find. The restaurant is super clean, the meal was fantastic, great service and a fantastic view.

Feines Essen, freundliches und aufgestelltes Personal, wunderschöne Umgebung mit Palmengarten und Seesicht. Morgenbuffet reichhaltig mit warmen und kalten Speisen. Schönes Ambiente drinnen wie draussen. Sehr empfehlenswert.
