El Burro in Wil (SG)

Spacious restaurant with a terrace above the roundabout. Very centrally located. There are generous portions of Mexican dishes at average prices. Well cooked.

Very fine food, service always nice. We always enjoy coming back.

Actually a great place with good Mexican food. The extremely dry humor of one waiter is hard to grasp or very difficult to understand (inappropriate/unfriendly). The restaurant is kept very dark. The waiting times between meals with empty plates in front of you were too long. The food was ok :)

Food on Sunday was fantastic. The owner (?) served us first. He was extremely rude and annoyed. How can you behave like that towards guests? The order was brought to us by a nice service employee.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We were pushed into a corner and waited 15 minutes before the waiter even noticed us. Unfortunately, we waited a long time for the main course, even though there weren't many people left. My partner's food was cold and I was glad I had a starter otherwise I would have walked out hungry. When our plates were empty, we waited 30 minutes until I yelled “pay” across the restaurant. It was very impersonal, unfriendly and extremely unfortunate because we were looking forward to a nice date evening.

The nachos with carrots were disappointing, the enchiladas were convincing in terms of taste, even though the carrots in them weren't good. Unfortunately the salad in the rice was inedible. A highlight, however, were the croquettes - the best thing I've ever eaten anywhere in the world!

The food is very good and the portions are very large. Unfortunately there is a lot of staff turnover, so it's not always very friendly. I can only recommend the restaurant for eating. But not to linger because the volume level is very high.

The restaurant is quite dark, too dark for my taste, the food didn't blow me away, the staff tried hard. Maybe I'll eat there again if someone invites me. 🫣

Received the card after 15 minutes, not even the drinks after 30 minutes.... Music so loud that you couldn't even hear your own voice anymore.... Just say from the start that you don't have any spontaneous guests in the house want.

I think it takes a little too long at lunchtime, especially if you only have 1 hour for lunch.

Today my daughter and I happily walked to El Burro to satisfy our hunger... Oh dear, it's closed July 30th to August 6th. It would be customer friendly if this were stated on Google. It says open.

Mexican food; was delicious. Some of the staff are very friendly, others are rather unfriendly and you are ignored if you want to reorder something. If the weather is nice and there is enough space in the restaurant, you can sit outside on the terrace. Only the noise from the street (roundabout) is a little annoying.

We made a quick stop at El Burro for a quick snack for dinner. Because there were no seats left on the terrace, we sat inside, which unfortunately seemed a bit gloomy and dreary. This may also be because the counter is hidden behind frosted glass and shelves, which makes the customer seem a bit lost. The fries were great, the sauces tasted like they came from a can and were homemade. A little more attention should be paid to the declaration in the card. Unfortunately, we were only partially understood by the waitress, or we only understood them to a limited extent due to our lack of knowledge of German.

I gave the shop another chance yesterday but now I can definitely say it is the worst Mexican shop in Switzerland. Neither the boss nor the chefs nor the staff are from Mexico or even from South America if that matters to anyone. Only the staff, the waiters, are very friendly.

Mexican cuisine is something else. Generous portions but only edible. Chewy chicken nuggets, guacamole not fresh. Tortillas are kind of like soft wraps... No rice, beans, hot sauce, cilantro or nachos on the plates.

Good food, it's just a shame that it's cooked with way too much oil/fat. The dishes could be much lighter if you cooked with half the oil/fat. As with everything, service depends on who is serving you. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. In my opinion the menu offers something for everyone. All in all, a good place to eat.

It might have been a bit spicier all around (unfortunately the chili oil didn't help either) but otherwise pretty good. The service wasn't particularly motivated but OK.

As a native Southern Californian who’s living in Switzerland, I can say this isn’t very much like an authentic Mexican restaurant …but the food is ok. The prices were typical for the region (23-35CHF per plate), but there’s no rice, beans or tortilla chips included with the entrees…which is one of the major ways it diverges from authentic Mexican food. I was very disappointed to hear that a basket of tortilla chips cost 10CHF, whereas chips ‘n salsa would be complimentary in most US/Mexico restaurants. Regarding the food: The fajita platter was slightly small, but quite tasty. It consisted of a moderate quantity of tender, sliced beef, sautéed with a LOT of bell peppers and onions, accompanied by several warm flour tortillas; cost: 34CHF. Next, the quesadilla tocino was more like a Piadina- it was oily, but generously full of cheese and bacon (cost was 23CHF). Both entrees included appx 45 ml of guacamole, as well as sour cream. The fajitas also came with a 45 ml serving of tomato salsa which was pleasantly spicy. My partner was still hungry when we departed, which was disappointing after spending 66CHF for dinner. (Including 8 CHF for 2 sodas).

The gentleman from the service is unfriendly when asked what a dish contains, he answers with the name of the dish and doesn't say anything more about it. His tone is also very unfriendly.

We were there spontaneously, without a reservation, so unfortunately there was no space outside. I ate fantastic chili, my colleague enchiladas. I said to her, how many people eat this? It was such a big portion, it was crazy, great. 😊 I can only recommend El Burro.

My favorite place for typical Mexican cuisine. The specialty dishes are incredibly tasty, but there are also many other dishes. The service is friendly and the location is great.

Mega fine and very large portions

I'm very disappointed... a long wait until we even got the menu and then no one came for another 15 minutes. Mr. Waiter (with a short beard) was very arrogant and apparently he didn't feel like working... we were outside here today (May 30th, 2022) at 7:00 p.m.

The friendliness of the staff leaves a bit to be desired. You wait a long time for the drinks, you almost get the food beforehand. The food itself wasn't bad, but I've had better.

The drinks and food came quickly, but unfortunately they were cleared away very late, which is why we skipped dessert. Apart from one waiter, we felt that no one wanted to work. We found the food to be average. My better half & I have been guests twice now & now we won't go a third time.

The staff is very friendly and I was looking forward to the "EL BURRO BURGER" after a fresh and well-portioned mixed salad. What was served to me as a HAUSBURGER was a cheap hamburger that had been thawed out of the freezer - just cheeky!! No fresh minced meat, which is what you would expect for this price and as a house specialty. The visual impression is of no use either. Maybe the kitchen will learn something from this post and serve fresh beef in the future.

Ordered enchilada res with rice. First get some tomato soup. Everything wonderful and freshly prepared. Coffee is included for the price of 23.50. Highly recommended!

We found a hair in our food. It's human nature to happen. But after we reported this to the landlady, she didn't want to accept any guilt or fault. The long hair was in a burito. It still had sauce on it. The blame was always dismissed disrespectfully and the lady said that the hair was ours. The meal was charged additionally! An outrage. Very disappointing and unprofessional! We were customers who always came. Not after such behavior. We often turned a blind eye but after this time it was enough.
