El Camino in Thun

We had an early lunch on a Saturday. The place is hopping when the weather is good. Nevertheless food was served quickly. Burgers were nice, but not spectacular.

Good selection of different types of beer, burgers and sweet patato fries are also tasty!

We were there at 12:50 and couldn't order until 40 minutes later. After calling several times, we were overlooked/unheard and many of those who were there after us got their turn first. The service was stressed and unfriendly. And the lunch menu was already sold out... Waiting so long with a toddler was very tiring!

Hamburger and Nachos were delicious! Good quality/price, very attentive and kind service! To repeat :)

As someone who works in the hospitality industry myself, I can understand the challenges of stressful days and serving numerous guests at the same time. However, the way "Tschäbu" treated the customers was really unacceptable. Despite the many guests waiting, we had to clean the table ourselves after 30 minutes because "Tschäbu" didn't think it was necessary to do this despite repeatedly passing by. When we asked, he indecently threw crumbs into our laps - a completely inappropriate reaction, especially in front of other customers. The wait for drinks was understandable given it was a sunny Saturday, and we were initially friendly and understanding. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said about "Tschäbu". His grumpy and unfriendly manner became more and more noticeable. The person taking the order for the food was not only incompetent, but also dry and almost unfriendly. Even when the meal was served, there wasn't even a simple "Ä Guete" - a gesture that can be expected even on stressful days. Despite a possibly acceptable meal, the view of the Mühli was fantastic, but the service was beyond criticism and not recommended. I will definitely avoid El Camino.

The pulled chicken burger we ordered was really good in terms of taste. The roll was cold, the pulled chicken lukewarm. The warmest thing on the plate were the fries. The staff is busy. The food came quickly. The price for two burgers with fries and two alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks each was around 85 francs. Unfortunately, in these cool temperatures, the door at the front of the entrance area was open as well as the door on the first floor in the kitchen area. So there wasn't anything very warm about it and you could see that many others at the table simply had their jackets on.

I've been there for dinner a few times now. The food is like the service, very good and really quick. The waitresses are very attentive, friendly and committed. The location of the restaurant is also very good, you can park in the City Ost Schlossberg car park and then it's not far to walk. I recommend the homemade iced tea, blue cheese burger and the sweetfries. See you next time :)

After over 20 years of absolute loyalty, I unfortunately have to say that this restaurant has suffered badly since the change of tenant and the resulting departure of the excellent permanent staff who served attentively and with a lot of passion for years. It takes forever to be served and has lost all friendliness and personality.

One of the best in Thun, great breakfast & brunch

I had a beef burger with sweet fries and I really enjoyed it. The meat had a unique flavor and the bread was very fluffy. I can really recommend it and would be happy to come back. Good ambience on Mühleplatz and delicious food.

Great service and the food is fine. The restaurant is doing very well, everything is freshly prepared. It's a shame that sometimes there are guests who have no patience when the terrace is full and the staff is running...The service staff does a good job and is friendly despite the stress! Keep it up!

Service was great, food was great. Very relaxed place to hangout

We had a craving for burgers and decided to try those of El Camino for a Sunday lunch: both the avocado burger and the pulled pork burgers were very taste; we especially liked the meats and the sauce. For the buns we usually prefer them a bit more crunchy but overall we were very happy with the meal. We'll definitely return to try some more dishes!

Cool bar, great burgers, GREAT LOCATION...unfortunately it was very noisy, the staff filled everything up...and rearranged...and rebuilt, you couldn't understand your own words...

Quite good for brunch. But we paid 8 francs for a smoothie that you can get for 3.50 in the Coop. In the end, all together 50 francs.

service disaster, you ask if the wings are marinated; Answer yes it is on that. In truth there is a sauce on top, the dose is not too strong. Then we ask about the Hamburgee bluecheese, how strong the sauce is, the answer is that it is a sauce. The bluecheese hambuger only tastes like bluecheese, it takes courage to know the sauce, it only seems to be cheese and we're done. The burrito is more of a wrap, has no Mexican taste, the beans are raw and cold!! I've never seen it before, so when we asked the waitress about it, she got snippy and said she had answered, unfortunately the waiter doesn't seem to understand German well, because her answers contradicted the facts, and it was definitely not worth the 70 chf. No insight or attempt to come towards us. Only a waiter named Andrej noticed that we were unhappy and apologized on behalf of the restaurant, but other than Andrej I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The kitchen is improvised, the recipes still need to be coordinated/improved and the waiters need to be more understanding, if they don't do their job well you can't snap at the customer or blame them, so you won't come back.

The waitress was very friendly and as soon as we sat down they brought our dog a bowl of fresh water. We ordered the club sandwich and burrito, everything was very good and at a good price. Very well located and good terrace.

The waiter was very friendly, polite and helpful. Food was also very good. Only... ice cream in a "Kübeli" doesn't work for me at all.

We sat down and placed our order, before we even finished placing the order the waitress said she had sent it off and that we couldn't get our starter before the main course because it would be too late. The homemade iced tea is not recommended and the waitress put the drinks and the food down incorrectly and was in a bad mood. The food itself came quickly, filling portions and delicious food. We wanted to enjoy our coffee on the terrace afterwards but had to pay inside before we went out. It didn't bother us much, but the entire experience was simply dissatisfying.

El Camino offers the perfect hangover brunch. Great selection and very tasty food. Although rather expensive, this is justified by the location

Had a beef burger here for lunch. The burger was OK and it may even be one of the better burgers in Thun. But there isn't a lot of competition in this area in Thun to compete with. The service was very friendly and quick. I found the price for drinks and food to be reasonable. The ventilation inside is poor. It smelled very strongly of food, so that you could smell your clothes all day long wherever you were. All in all, good for a quick lunch. But I would sit outside if possible.

One of my favorites on the “Mühle-Platz” in Thun. The vegetarian burgers are excellent. I've always eaten well at "El Camino"

Nice place on the docks. Still possible to enjoy the terrace at the end of October, it's great. On the other hand, when we report an error between the order and what we receive when paying, there is not even an excuse, too bad.

Lovely place where they offer delicious looking snacks and drinks. For vegans and lactose intolerants, they have oat milk for their coffees too. I ordered a vanilla frappuccino and it tasted amazing! Looking forward to come back to try their food.

Wednesday June 1st, 2022 around 6:00 p.m. with reservation... Cozy evening planned with your best friend. The drinks were good. It hurt me a bit when the waitress threw the small Belgian beer down rather than putting it down. I was allowed to clean up myself and also get the napkin because the waitresses were visibly stressed. And she obviously didn't think it was important enough to wipe the spilled beer off the table. When ordering, the waitress was so stressed that my colleague couldn't tell her that she wanted the pulled pork burger without tomatoes. She doesn't have allergies but what if we would have had a problem... When the food arrived it looked good but the burger patty was still raw inside. I was able to shred it with a fork like minced meat from Migros... Since I often cook myself, I am sure that the burger patty was pressed onto the plate so that it received color, then turned over and pressed down again. However, this doesn't fry it; it just gives it color on the outside. Not more. Because I can't eat raw meat because it would cause me to vomit. I couldn't eat this. I reported this to the waitress. She asked me to take the burger back, I'm against food waste and because the burger was already cut up it would almost certainly have ended up in the trash. I then ate the vegetarian version, which means everything except the patty. As a burger and beer lover, I'm honestly disappointed. The other drinks were good though... I won't be eating burgers at ElCamino again. However, I can recommend the pancakes from 2 years ago, but since it was 2 years ago I don't know whether they are raw on the inside? This still needs to be tested... Below Bider from my Bruger... minced meat...

Great staff! Coughs! The menu is varied, quite a few vegetarian choices, the dishes are delicious, plentiful and affordable. Beautiful terrace, fast and efficient service. Their cocktails and breakfasts are just... so good! I recommend !

We ordered 1 chicken burrito, 1 beef burrito and nachos with Guacemalo sauce. Beef burrito was made with minced meat, there was no regular meat in it and it contained rice. The one with chicken wasn't bad. Nachos were the worst nachos I've ever had in my life. Only the sauce was good. The cheese between the chips wasn't even melted and was very cold. The employees constantly come to the table and ask you questions, making you nervous and making you feel uncomfortable as if they want you to get up and leave immediately. I definitely do not recommend it to anyone

Unfortunately, the service on March 26, 2022 was very unfriendly. We were denied any courtesy as we “only” ordered one pitcher as a group of four. When we received the beer fun we ordered, the glasses were literally thrown on the table. This service lady should definitely take a course!!! Otherwise, El Camino is a top restaurant and we will continue to visit it as a group, but hopefully without serving this lady... Here’s to more pitchers!

I had the spicy avocado salad with added chicken. The salad was very basic but fresh ingredients the chicken was also dry but service was good. Definitely worth the try if you’re in the area.

We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was also very worth seeing. The seats and chairs are a little uncomfortable, but the staff are very nice and friendly. Feel free to note on the menu when the cheese on the sandwich has melted/the sandwich is warmed up. There could also be a few sweet dishes on the menu.

Food was very good. Unfortunately the waiter didn't greet us and was very absent. I think it's a shame because you could tell he was very against foreigners. He laughed and greeted us neither with other customers.

Very nice staff and delicious food. But the place is small, dark and loud. To reach the toilet the stairs are very narrow and steep, a bit dangerous. Portions should be more generous.

I always like to sit here for a beer or something to eat. The atmosphere is always great. Always has the right schnapps for that. The only reason for 4 stars is the flies... Guys, please do something about the flies.

El Camino scores with fresh ingredients. The dishes are very tasty. I can particularly recommend the selection of different burgers.
