Authentic Mexican restaurant in the heart of Bern. Definitely a recommendation! In my opinion, better (because more authentic Mexican) than the nearby Papa Joe's.

My birthday was on December 18th, 2023 and I celebrated with my colleague at El mexicano. My menu was green salad with avocado and trocitos de res. When I paid, Kolleg had the green salad on it. The birthday child ordered it and ate it. And the birthday child had to pay for the salad. I was very amazed! Isn't the starter included? Their website says something different?!?!

We discovered this place through an invitation to a celebration in this restaurant. 30 people were served at the same time Wow! Tasty Tex-Mex cuisine with tasty cocktails. The service was very friendly and competent, and we were also invited to Frozenmargharitas at the end. A good choice in Bern We will be back!

What a disaster! The food doesn't have a hint of Mexico. Guacamole from the frozen food!!!!!! The restaurant should change its name!!! Everything didn't taste like anything, I didn't taste any Mexican spice. Just very disappointing!

Initial situation: A colleague celebrated his birthday with around 30 guests. It was a big compliment that the restaurant accepted the reservation and served everyone at the same time. But the colleague should ask himself whether he would prefer to invite fewer people next time. Food: The food was really tasty :) the nacho plate didn't last long, hence the somewhat poor photo. The Yucatán tacos were really delicious. Everything was rounded off with a sweet mojito. I will recommend it!

The dinner was very good. It is quite loud in the restaurant as it is rather a larger room. We were there spontaneously, without a reservation. Service was absolutely fine as the restaurant was very busy.

The last time I was here was 4-5 years ago and again today. Unfortunately, the restaurant looks quite old. Broken upholstered furniture, broken toilet lid and unfortunately generally no longer well maintained. Tapas starter was ok, various fried ready-made products and nachos without guacamole. Good wines and cocktails. The restaurant definitely can no longer keep up with the surrounding businesses. Very unfortunate.

Dear El Mexicanos team, dear Mr. Güven, dear Swiss Bar Group team We would like to express our great disappointment about our visit to the restaurant yesterday. According to the opening times we checked and saw on your website, the restaurant should be open until 00:30. However, our group of 10 was thrown out at 10pm while we were still eating and drinking, before the restaurant officially closed. And this was very intrusive and very rude several times. Is this how you treat guests who spent over CHF 500? Not only were we affected, but also the next 6 guests who came at 10 p.m. and wanted to eat. These were simply sent to the nearest Mexican restaurant or McDonalds. Tip: Anyone who sends their guests to the competition weakens their sales and their image. This cannot be a sustainable strategy. I don't know if you're an exception, but no company has ever survived like this. We even celebrated a birthday and made reservations very early to make sure we had enough time for a nice dinner in a pleasant atmosphere. It was extremely disappointing and disrespectful that we were forced out of the restaurant early and several times and were even blackmailed by the waiter that if we didn't all order dessert, we would have to pay and leave immediately. I ask for an explanation for this behavior and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused to us. I hope you will take this matter seriously and take action to prevent something like this from happening again. No guest in the world wants such behavior and must not be tolerated. If we do not receive any feedback, we will be forced to make a report to Gastro Suisse and to the local media. You can also expect several negative Google reviews from 10 people in the next few days. We cannot and will not accept this and take it upon ourselves. Not us, and if things continue like this, we certainly won't be the last dissatisfied guests at your place. Ay, caramba! We were hungry travelers coming back from a hike. And we stopped in here for a quick bite. It was delicious and quick--with massive portions, too--can only recommend the shrimp quesadilla (or tacos) to you! ***The menu also said you eat free on your birthday, 1 of the pair eats free on an amniversary, and a bachelor/bachelorette also eats free. So, come try it out for your next special occasion.

I eat here every now and then. The food is mostly good, not super special and unfortunately small portions (i.e. price-performance rather below average) but at least plus/minus Mexican or. TexMex. If you can cook, you can make the food at home better. The ambience is ok. But what always annoys me is the service. Pay your people fairly and send them to courses where you learn to be friendly.

IT IS NOT MEXICAN FOOD. Ugly and unseasoned food is only delicious for those who do NOT know Mexican food and for those who are NOT Mexican. None of the dishes we eat even come close to what Mexican seasoning truly is. The owner is Turkish, and none of the waiters or the captain are Mexican. It is annoying that customers leave with a bad perspective of what Mexican food is at this “Mexican restaurant.” DO NOT ATTEND.

The food was very good and recommended. The staff made an effort, some a little more... others a little less. I've already been to El Mexicano three times and twice I was charged something completely wrong. So be sure to check the receipt.

Terribly expensive for low quality food - avoid this place! A couple examples: 6.80chf/bottle water, 33chf for 3 taco bell style tacos, 20chf for 6 Jalapeno poppers. I know Mexican food is somewhat novel in Switzerland, so i understand why people still go. However, anyone can make this same food using ingredients from the tiny Mexican section in coop/migros for much much cheaper. Don't go here if you're looking for something special or interesting, it's fast food quality at much higher than normal prices for Swiss restaurants.

Since my favorite food is Mexican, I go to the restaurant with high expectations. I wasn't disappointed. The food was very good, I had Quesadilla de Pollo and Nachos. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, just as you would imagine. Unfortunately I couldn't take a photo of the food because it went into my stomach so quickly. Next time there will be a review with a photo. I highly recommend you visit here!

We were greeted unfriendly at the beginning and when served. The employees seem tired and snooty. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco, it wasn't cold enough, the cellar poured us each an overflowing glass and simply left the bottle on the table. We had to ask for a cold bucket. . He had brought us one and then he seemed a bit friendlier. The food was good, the restaurant is central. We just didn't like the Sevirse at the beginning.

It's not a fancy restaurant. But the food is very tasty and the portions are generous!

Tacos weren't bad! Prices very high for the poor quality of the food (meat). Fajitas: -were cold -Really bad chicken (quality) and also very poorly seasoned vegetables and meat -PLASTIC between the meat and vegetables!

FOOD: tasty food and well presented. They customised the order as we asked and gave us some spicy chilli sauces on request. SERVICE: They were good but didn't give 5 stars because we told them we don't eat eggs but they put French dressing on the salad and forgot to replace it. ATMOSPHERE: They have two halves, one modern and one old school which felt a bit odd. The entrance is in a block of offices or flats as well so there were no views to gaze at.

I was in this restaurant with my friends on Sunday! We stole from 3 different menus! We stole at 8:03 p.m. and the order came at 9:07 p.m. during which time we asked the staff and each time they said 5 minutes! When the food quality from Steck and everything was catastrophic! No quality salad was from barley! Very tasteless and dry! Me and my friends we will never join this restaurant again! And I don't recommend it either! Health AMT BERN MUST CONDITIONALLY check these locally!

Great restaurant with friendly staff. Centrally located in the city. A large selection of TexMex food. Great cocktails and quick service. It's a well-rehearsed team and can easily manage a group of 20 people. Got a very good impression. Own smoking area within the restaurant. Payment can be made by card or cash.

Catastrophe! Food was simply put there, even though we told the waiter that we were going out for a moment. The sauces already had a crust on top, the guacamole tasted of nothing. The pans with the food were ice cold, as was the food, and we were outside for 5 minutes. The tacos and fajitas were tasteless and falling apart. You could see that nothing was freshly prepared, carrots in the rice from a can...Absolutely not worth the money...a shame. To open a Mexican restaurant you have to understand something about it. I would give 0 stars if I could.

A restaurant to avoid at all costs! The food was just too greasy and disgusting. The service was really bad, the waiter was really rude. But the worst of the worst is the waiting. There were very few customers and we had to wait ages to order and receive our dishes. The only thing not too bad was the quantities which were worth the price. But hey, as the dishes were really not good, that bothered us. In short, a restaurant I would never set foot in again!

Bad service, almost 20 minutes waiting time for the first drinks. 30 minutes for a starter, a good 70 minutes for a main course. With the ribs-wings combo, two wings, one of them cold and not cooked through. Definitely first and last visit.

If possible, I would give 0 stars. We were looking forward to a nice evening with some friends. At the beginning everything seemed fine. We received the menu almost immediately. However, after that we waited almost 15 minutes until our order for drinks and food was even taken. For the drink we waited at least 20 minutes. We ordered a shared appetizer for which we waited nearly 40 minutes. Some of the items were cold and definitely not worth the CHF 28.00. For the main course we waited at least another 30 minutes. There were several people that arrived and ordered after us, but received their food well before us. In fact most of them were done when we finally received ours. We ordered the spare ribs & wings combo. We didn't get to choose the sides and didn't receive the corn on the cob, which was listed in the menu. We only received 1 chicken wing each, which were also cold as if they were straight out of the refrigerator. As the item on the menu was listed as "spare ribs & wings combo" I would've expected at least 4-5 wings. After we were done eating it took them about 15-20 minutes to clear the table. Even though the waiters walked by our table at least 5 times with empty hands. It was definitely the last time that we ate there. Needless to say that we didn't leave any tip. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

The food was really good, I had an extra request that was taken into account, no fajitas with my dish, but it wasn't visible on the bill... Live music was cool but it was extremely loud. You have to like it 😉 When we wanted to pay, we waited 15 minutes and the service staff walked past the full table with dishes 20 times, which was completely incomprehensible to me. Well, it's better to go during the week. It's pretty crowded on the weekend.

We've been to this restaurant three times already, all good things come in threes... as the saying goes. Unfortunately that's not the case here. Visually, the food really looks GREAT... but it's not a high-lite in terms of appearance. (Definitely needs improvement) The food was cold and not for everyone... overly salty and over-seasoned. The waitress could have more eye contact with the guests, then you wouldn't have to wait 10-15 minutes until you can be served, cleared away or paid. However, the prices are very fair, it's fine for anyone who wants solid Mexican food

A very good Mexican-style restaurant on the second floor of a commercial street in the old town of Bern with an unobvious entrance. I ordered a mixed set meal for 39 francs per person. You can eat such as enchiladas, fajita taco and chickpea red soup. We also ordered a variety of dishes. The appetizer platter was also rich in variety and the fried pepper cheese sandwich was very delicious. The waiters are also polite. Although there are not many people at noon, the food is not served very quickly. Fortunately, it tastes delicious and has rich ingredients. Tourists who are not used to local Swiss tastes can indeed meet the needs of richer tastes here.

For Mexican food abroad, I must say that it has a lot of flavor, the enchiladas are not enchiladas, they are golden tortillas and folded tipi whiting, but they are delicious... I ordered grilled meat, it is very coarse, but I think that the pieces of meat are a better option, All main dishes are between 25 and 38 chf.

1 star because there is no -1! The food was still ok, but the service was a disaster...no one asks what you want to order until you actively call the service (i.e. each guest individually). They can't do collective service! The bill is thrown on the table and not given to you...paying separately can only be done equally by all guests!!! We (7 people) gave a hefty tip of 10Rp...never again!

Nice restaurant. Very friendly service. We recommend the corn soup, garlic bread, chili con carne and the salmon. Bon appetite !
