Papa Joe's in Bern

Although the food was good, we had to wait 2 hours for our food. People who came 1 hour after us got their food including appetizer before we even received the appetizer. Unfortunately I will avoid this restaurant in the future.

Was there for the first time. An interesting place. The chicken wings in a cornflake coating were very good. It's probably not the last time I've been there. Very friendly service. Price/performance ratio is also right. So I can highly recommend the restaurant. Today, March 23rd, 2024, we were only there for a drink.

Visiting again after about 5 years, there were 6 of us and we made a reservation for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday...2 drinks were wrong. As an excuse, there were another 2 drinks, but with so much alcohol that they were undrinkable...than Starter chicken wings for everyone (they were soggy and not well grilled) the meal was eaten by 4 people then the waiter disappeared... after we asked him back to the table and the 2 others were also allowed to order (sparer ribs) they arrived after 5 min before anything else and were already cold? When we spoke to the waiter, we suspected that we had received the food from others...we ate it anyway because it would otherwise be thrown away and told the waiter to take it into account in the bill, which he did👍...when we were all finished Then about 10 minutes later the waiter came with the spare ribs, which were probably actually ours...sorry for the waiter because we laughed at him😄 and it's a shame about the food which ended up in the trash anyway😕...conclusion too If it was Saturday, we were there at 5:00 p.m. and there wasn't that much going on...too many mistakes overall and the food wasn't any better than in other places...it will probably take another 5 years until next visit🐄👈

The chicken wings and burgers are delicious, and the fried sweet potatoes are also delicious. The staff's service is particularly good and their smiles are very nice. It is worth recommending!

It was a birthday dinner. While the birthday child was in the toilet, the birthday dessert (see photo) was served (even though the service lady saw that we weren't here). The waitress said that it had been waiting in the kitchen for a long time and she had to serve it now. A pity. We have been to Papa Joe's Basel several times. No comparison! The service staff really celebrates the birthday child and congratulates him personally.

There is MUCH better gourmet burgers in Switzerland for between CHF 18 and 25; the only burger for CHF 31 in Bern was created by a 1 Michelin star chef and it's worth it). Exactly, who came up with the idea of ​​“lady’s” and “gentleman’s” sizes? Extremely sexist and just ridiculous. The cuisine is TexMex, but you folks don't need to be redneck to sell it. 5 years ago my husband and I ate here and the experience was also unsatisfactory. This time I visited the restaurant with my colleague to see if the standard had been improved. Nope. We shall never return.

Unique ambience. I've been to many good restaurants, including in Mexico - and here the style and furnishings, right down to the dishes, were the most authentic and beautiful. The food was also very tasty (we had cheese nachos, quesadillas with beef and the hamburger) and the service was very friendly and warm. You felt more like you were a guest at her (the waiter's) home than in a restaurant :)

In terms of decoration there is nothing to complain about, it is an exceptional setting, not a rather childish atmosphere but pleasant all the same. The service is OK but nothing more, fortunately one of the waitresses was smiling and pleasant, even embarrassed by the behavior of her colleagues. As for the food, however, if you are looking to eat well, this is an address to avoid. The fries come from frozen foods, the hamburgers are served cold or very warm and even after a request to reheat the dish, it manages to return to the same temperature. Price wise it's worse... 29.- for a 120g hamburger, you might as well go to a dinner like that of Payerne or for 29.- you have quality food and meat weighing at least 300g. More than disappointing address.

Partner wanted to check this place out and I reluctantly went. I was surprised by the level of dedication to the theme (posters, trinkets etc) and felt nostalgic of all the faux Mexican places I ate at in college! Ordered the veggie quesadilla which is probably healthier than what I'd get in the US- not complaining! It was delicious and a decently sized portion. Despite the dinner rush we were served relatively quickly and the staff were really nice!! This place is a vibe, worth going!

Bad welcome, bad food. (everything is frozen and just reheated in the microwave). Bad service and no joy of living. No desire to finish the plates. Too expensive for what it is! To flee!

We ate here as the guests of T Systems Schweiz. This restaurant is amazing! I think the decorations and style is not fancy or cool but the foods are special! We ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon of California. I never drank a cabernet sauvignon that was not sour in my entire life. Well the cabernet that they serve here is not sour. It is indeed of high quality, I loved it! Then I ate a normal size salad with prawns. It turned out that the portion was huge! It was fresh and delicious. I have never eaten better! Then I chose beef steak with prawns and french fries. I never knew that french fries can be this tasty and high-quality. The meat was also unique and breathtaking. The only problem was I asked it to be well-done but they made it medium rare. Finally I ate cheesecake. I am not a fan of desserts but it was also tasty and beautifully presented. Yes the waitress was at times a bit slow but she was cheerful and polite. To sum up, I ate some of my best restaurant meals ever in this place and I highly recommend it.

We waited more than 1 hour for food. Everyone else around us also waited a long time - but we waited the longest. Apparently the receipts were not processed in sequence. For 1 out of 4 people the wrong dish came, after which 3 had already finished eating and one person had to wait another half hour and then had to eat when everyone else was finished. The food wasn't good either: burgers were cold and basically raw. Fries soft, without seasoning and also cold. The salad was ok. The service staff tried very hard, but should have proactively informed us why the food wasn't coming. Unfortunately a very negative experience!

I get more for my money in “expensive” Zurich. Much more, in fact!

An outdated restaurant with always similar menus.

We were there on Halloween Saturday with two electric wheelchairs and we were given a very friendly welcome by the serving ghosts. The food was great and the atmosphere was happy and exuberant. Thank you, we'll be happy to come back ;-)

We were there to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is attractively decorated and cozy. Now around Halloween time it was decorated accordingly, which was really cool. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. We had six different waiters who served us throughout the evening and constantly brought something to the table that we hadn't ordered. It seemed pretty chaotic. The cocktails were rather poorly mixed, so most of us ordered something else to drink after two. The food was ok, but nothing special. Rather a bit loveless and bland. Also a bit overpriced for what you get. I think I won't come here again.

We had lunch here at lunch and can only give the best rating. Super-fast service with a smile 😁 The honey chicken wings were delicious, as was the fresh salad with the prawns. But the best part was the garlic bread with fresh garlic on the bread. Everything perfect! Thanks for the lovely lunch.

There is even a small stream that runs through the restaurant. When it's busy, it's not exactly quiet and you definitely have to make a reservation. The food is good, the portions are appropriate. Price-performance ok. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed that a colleague forgot the food and we had to eat because otherwise it would have been cold. We asked several times for napkins and they were constantly forgotten. Unfortunately it wasn't our first such experience. Otherwise good overall, but the nice ambience contributes a lot to the positive rating.

The restaurant is located almost at Bern train station, close to the Federal Palace. It is a Tex-Mex restaurant and offers a large selection. I think the price-performance ratio is good! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cool. The only criticism would be that the service (especially when it came to paying) was a bit slow, but that's complaining on a high level! I will gladly come again :)

Went out for dinner spontaneously last week. Very disappointing, both food and service. We were there around 8 p.m., there were hardly any guests, but we still had to wait almost 45 minutes for the two small dishes. The service there is completely out of place. Patty answers and no interest in the guest or good service, the young man is an absolute no go! Chicken wings were completely dried out, fries were weak and salad was okay but completely overpriced for 26 Fr. It was definitely my first and last visit.

I like to go by again and again. The service is very nice and they sometimes respond to the guests' wishes when it comes to the shots. I also think the food is very good. Payment by card, cash or Twint including contactless.

I had the opportunity to eat last night. I ordered a first course of fried onion rings and a second course of BBQ with sweet potatoes. Good morning, We came to eat at Papa Joe's with my friends, warm place, nice decoration. The service is correct despite the language barrier. After being seated we placed an order for 4 cheeseburgers we see no difference between a woman or gentleman burger except the price and the American flag on the gentleman's.. The value for money really does not correspond to 30.- for a burger. (poor quality fries, meat straight from the freezer) In the end we still went to McDonald's to make up for our meal...

Conclusion: not a second time. With the best will in the world, I can't understand the extra charge of ~15 for three "giant shrimps" compared to one without. The waiting times for the drinks were too long, the fries were hot - the meat was cold! The meat was swapped... My companion's beer had foam up to a third of the glass... Very disappointing, even though the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. Price/performance poor
