Eulen Bistro in Bern

Good Friday, nice weather, lots of visitors. Dählhölzlirestaurant closed due to renovation work: Waited 1 hour 10 minutes for food (hot dog and fries). Suggestion to the Mund'art Event GmbH team. Organize a mobile deep fryer and use it in such conditions. In the morning during public holidays/holidays, check the weather and recruit more staff accordingly.

Extremely slow service No matter how busy it is, waiting 1 hour for fries and sausage is a lot.

The staff was very unfriendly. We wanted to order something to eat when we were told that the hot kitchen was closed. According to the opening times on the homepage, the bistro should be open until 5 p.m.... The way this was communicated to us was not working at all. There were a lot of visitors with children who also wanted to order something, and they were shouted at in the same unfriendly way. A real shame for a zoo.

We had a hot dog and the spaetzli pan. It was delicious and the service was super friendly. We didn't wait long either. The spaetzli with mushrooms were really delicious. Bravo, keep it up. We will be back.

Unfortunately very incompetent staff, didn't know how to open a wine bottle, how to make a panache... there was no trace of motivation. There was hardly any choice of drinks left, the ice cream selection was limited to two different ice creams... in this beautiful summer weather you would like a cool drink It's actually a shame for this service at these prices.

We waited a good 20 minutes for a hot dog. The hot dog was priced at over 9 francs and was advertised as a specific hot dog. A roll came with a wienerli, where did that go? I would have expected more for the money. Staff friendly but overwhelmed and there weren't many guests. Well, it's a shame that you get ripped off like that.

40 minutes of waiting for some fries and a hot dog and the tables weren't even full. Small fries for 5fr. and owl fries 7fr. were the same size. Hod dog has nothing to do with hot dog. Soft Weggli bread cut open like a sandwitch and a wienerli inserted. Our table neighbors with small children also waited 40 minutes, so it was certainly not an isolated case. They say they don't have a handle on their craft and are ripping off families and guests. Even on August 3rd there wasn't that much going on and you should be prepared for a few fries as the other menus are already sold out and not available. Just not professional. Sorry, but I'd rather eat somewhere else. A pity

Unbearable waiting time for a half-empty bistro and considering the food we ordered (vegi sausage + fries). A pity!

Great food, but it's a shame that nothing is done about the waiting times. The staff are very busy and are visibly putting their foot down; complaining to them would be unfair. Therefore @Management, take the reviews seriously. It is very clear that many customers are dissatisfied. Thanks! :)

Small bistro in the park, self-service with a nice choice at affordable prices.

We waited over an hour for our food (fries and bratwurst). Yes, there were a lot of people and we would have accepted a 30 minute wait (as we were told). But that was just too long and no one could tell us exactly how much longer we would have had to wait. So we asked for our money back. A pity.

20 minutes waiting time for a hot dog and got fries with a wienerli. Order received incorrectly. Service and chef overwhelmed.

Broken sun umbrellas, slow food (we waited 45 minutes) and the first two dishes we wanted to order not available. Bern, you can do it better!

Iced coffee & fries are delicious 😁 There are enough seats. Everything is great, but when the cook clears the dishes while smoking (with a cigarette in his mouth), this is anything but OK!!!

Everything was great, except the menu could be expanded to include chicken nuggets for the children.

Food is good, unfortunately a lot of things are not in stock, so a point is deducted for service. Another point deducted because the VEGAN ice creams are not declared as such, only written in very small letters on the cups and you only read that once you have already started eating🙄. I left this with the cashier and will see if the suggestion is accepted. The ice creams themselves, we had Café & Pistachio were terrible, not even close to what we mean by that🤢. The manufacturer has to go over the books thoroughly again.

SUN Jul 26, 23: Same problem. 1 hour and 5 minutes waiting time for fryer food and starving children. At least the food was good.

It's a shame you can't give ZERO stars. We have never experienced anything like today. We were ignored while the staff had nothing to do but clean. (We were the only guests). After we made our presence known twice, the staff became cheeky and disrespectfully and provocatively insulted an older woman with YOU. Where is the respect? We got up and left, the waiter with LIGHT hair had nothing better to do than provoke us further. It's a shame for the zoo to have such poor service. I hope for a change soon, as it's not the first time this has happened according to the other reviews.

It's an incredibly young team that is trying very hard. always friendly and with a smile on your face no matter how many people are standing in line or waiting for their food. The small kitchen alone, which has no capacity to serve food more or faster, is unbelievable what they can do there Chapeaux and don't let the not-so-friendly feedback get you down keep it up!

Waiting times beyond 50 minutes for a portion of fries and a hot dog. Fries are massively oversalted, hot dog bread is inferior and then you have to pay a lot of money for it. Next time I'll take a picnic with me!

We've been waiting for our food for 40 minutes with a hungry toddler. Not a gourmet menu - fries and a hot dog. When it was finally our turn the forks ran out… so poorly organized…

Offer pleasant for this small bistro. The sparrows are very funny, they are very trusting and it's a lot of fun when they get close to you.

In the Eulenbistro, the MA guests should only be addressed as du when the guests themselves address them as du. Otherwise it was ok.

At 2 p.m. in the afternoon we and the other guests were shouted that there was no more food. So we just had a drink. The employees were extremely unfriendly and stressed. Oh well...

The bratwursts from Dentenberg, also available as “Hotwolf”, are highly recommended. We also really enjoyed the panzanella and the espressos.

Nice place, but we waited over 10 minutes. To pay 2 bottles of water.

Unfortunately, the request to fill a PET bottle with water (for a day school on a hot day) was not fulfilled and still water was offered for 8.00. Then we also gave up the coffee. It's a shame that a good reputation is being squandered here in a great place.

It's a shame that it was decided to no longer offer the special dishes and products in the new bistro. Where there was previously fine Bernese Luna Llena ice cream, you can now get the run-of-the-mill rocket and cornettos. Otherwise it's just "French fries food". The wooden terrace is pretty, but in the blazing midday sun everyone was longing for a parasol (the only one available was reserved for the ice cream chest). In the area where the picnic tables are, all the large parasols have inexplicably been removed - it will be a wet lunch if it rains, and in the middle of summer everyone with small children will probably like to eat in the blazing sun... A pity!

In a place like this there should be hot food all the time. Service at the bistro not professional. Not a model bistro.

Very tasty food, good selection, regional and with attention to detail. Staff friendly and cool. Almost centrally located terrace with a view over the zoo. Lots of seating around it. Wheelchair accessible!

Finally there is a bistro again within the Dählhölzli. You can eat something delicious on the newly built terrace, bratwurst was great. Bistro team very friendly. All of this with a view over the Dählhölzli Zoo. I can only recommend!

The food is ok, the espresso is not recommended, but the ice cream is. The cheerful staff and the playground right next to the bustro make up for the mediocre food. Recommended for families for catering, so if you're looking for good food, this isn't the right place for you.

Small dishes (hot dog, soup, potato salad, cake, ice cream, etc.) and organic drinks. Very friendly staff. Food you bring with you may also be consumed at the tables. In the middle there is a public grill that can be used free of charge.

It's still a nice little bistro for a coffee break. He doesn't have much choice but it's enough.

Finally there is a bistro within the Dählhölzli. The offering is still a bit narrow. There is coffee and drinks as well as some snacks, e.g. B. Nutcracker. The seats and the playground for the children are very nice.
