Regular guest for several years. The chicken was exceptionally good. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. We actually order chicken, not breading. A pity :(

Best chicken in town with a really good wine selection

The food was ok to good. We didn't find the 5 course menu special. It costs 138.- for 2 people and we found it very small in terms of quantity. For the main course, the venison pieces were really mini and there was also a single mini dumpling... (two people share the plate). We could have easily gone for another burger. As the number of guests increased, the service was no longer as attentive.

We opted for the menu for two at 138 CHF, accompanied by cocktails and a glass of red wine. The wine service stood out with a delightful opportunity to sample all three open wines before making a choice; I settled on a well-crafted Spanish selection. The dishes, while not particularly special, showcased a decent level of culinary skill. The aubergines and comfort-food-style potatoes were highlights, demonstrating a careful preparation. The shrimp dish and meat, while not standout, were cooked with evident care. Overall, a stable dining experience with some standout moments, making it a decent choice for those seeking reliable fare.

Awesome place, a hidden champion so to say. The food is excellent and we were very surprised by the very very high quality and amazing presentation of the food we were served. Also for drinks the place is amazing. In summer the outside area is gorgeous but also for cold days the interior is very modern and good place for a dinner or a drink.

Probably the best chicken pieces we have ever eaten and the service is original. Thanks

One of our fav spots for an absolutely delicious meal in a laid back atmosphere. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable too. You can either have the entire menu to share or order whatever dish a la carte.

A great surprise. As inconspicuous as the Exer looks from the outside, you wouldn't expect such fantastic kitchen performance and cocktail quality. What Sandra Böhm conjures up on the plate is simply bomb! Big respect! Always happy to visit! A great and very nice team.

Disappointig. Simple food for the soul shouldnt be a small bowl of käsespätzle (over heated) for 24 CHF. Also the rest of the food options, definitely too expensive for what you get.

There were two of us and we had the 7-course menu with the accompanying drinks plus extra drinks, totaling CHF 325 + Food was excellent + Exciting drinks accompaniment (drinks) - tables too small - too narrow, too loud - only natural wines, hip in my opinion but not to everyone's taste Conclusion: I wouldn't want to eat a meal of this quality and price in a loud, narrow bar. Gladly again for a good drink, unfortunately not for a meal.

Sensational cuisine, but the prices are massively too expensive even for Zurich (e.g. 2 scallops with mango chutney for 39.-). The bread was also charged at 5.- because we didn't take the menu.

Despite the great drinks, I think it's too expensive for the experience. Neither the food nor the location match the hefty price tag, even for Zurich standards.

My go to on Mondays and Tuesdays. Unfortunately these are the only days of the week I've been to Bar Exer - so I've only really had their fried chicken/cauliflower menu. When an established is packed but only has 2 items on the menu, you know it has it be good! Good selection of drinks - I've been having the shrub the last few times but the beers are aplenty and cocktails quite unique (possibly depending on who's at the bar on the day). Chicken has very good crust to skin to meat ratio and unlike other friend chicken in Zürich, it's nowhere near dry. My first recommendation for anyone who is visiting on Monday (when generally other establishments are shut). Need to go back to try the menu on the other days of the week.

We followed the recommendation to share the first 5 courses between two people and we were not disappointed. The food was very, very tasty and there was a taste surprise in every course. We also had room for dessert. The service was totally friendly and attentive, and we didn't miss anything. Highly Recommended :)

Great food. It only has one problem in that it is too little for how good it tastes. Oh yes and the fried chicken is to die for, some hand cut fries would make it perfect :)

The food is really very good, but I find the prices quite exorbitant for the ambience and some portion sizes.

Excellent options, I’ve been twice now so have been able to try different menus. Creative, comforting, extremely edible food. The cucumber cocktail was delicious as well.

Good cocktails, cosy space. One lesser known thing about the bar is they have extremely delicious food bordering fine dining quality. Smaller plates but real good food. Wanna have a easy outing but don't want to sacrifice on delicious food, this is a great choice

I had dinner on a Friday night. The staff was incredibly friendly and service was professional. Staff was knowledgeable about wine and open wine offerings were varied and exciting. It was great to see natural wines on the menu. As other reviews mentioned they have a small menu that is quite fine. I had the beetroot tarte and the house made nduja pici pasta. Dishes are small so it’s nice to share. Both were delicious. The chicken nights are Tuesday and Wednesday and really looking forward to try this. We were also told that Sundays are pop up restaurant days. It’s a great concept for a bar/restaurant.

I can only recommend “Raban’s Kitchen” to everyone. Small, changing card. Carrots rarely taste so good, fantastic homemade focaccia, always a super-fine dessert ready... mmmh

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo because the morsel alone was a sensation of the highest league. Guys, try it out, it's really an absolute MUST... so that's the end of the good stuff... If I suggest a bar in Zurich to friends that also serves sensational food, then Exer is the first choice. The fried chicken is unmatched in the city. Sorry Yard Bird. The service is top notch and always good music and drinks. We don't even have to start with Jasmine. 1A Food from Thursday to Saturday. Pulpo and Tonkotsu are recommended. Simply one of the best places in the city. At least for me.

Good beer, changing seasonally! Fried chicken is wonderful and melts in your mouth but also heats you up, spicy.

Funny gastro concept, cooking is only done on Friday or Saturday, I ate one of the best squid there. The wine list is disappointingly small, two reds and two whites. But the service is super nice and the evening was very nice. We will be back

The summer little garden is awesome and their DJ guests perform very cool music (DJ X-Pert was awesome!). Their own drinks are very playful!

Courteous staff and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in a stylish, well-kept, renovated ambience - toy box for playful people:-)! Small snacks are delicious and nicely presented.

Attention was drawn to an offer of the daily menu written in chalk. Completely empty, I'm the only guest in a dreamy old restaurant in the middle of the Langstrasse district. A beer first, not just any beer, but a winter beer recommended by the boss himself. Yummy! There are also olives and bread to nibble on. Starter: Nut salad with egg, bacon garnished with nuts. I order 2 dl Barbara in the open bar for the main course. Organic wine from the Säuliamt. Nothing to complain about. Try from a new 7dl bottle. Main course deer entrécôte with spaetzle and red cabbage, chestnuts and cranberries... Delicate pink meat from wild deer excellently cooked, spaetzli slightly crispy red cabbage, just like my mother would have cooked it... All in all a pearl in a sinful environment. It's worth coming back.

Visited at the weekend under new management. I am very, very excited and look forward to my next visit. Excellent food, great service and fair prices. I can only recommend this restaurant.
