Franzos in Zürich

I was just there with my colleague. She ordered a cheese plate and I felt like it too, so I ordered the same thing. With the words "because you both ordered the same thing" we were brought ONE (!) plate for both of them, which could never be worth 38 francs and is certainly smaller than two individual ones. Also, how about asking the guest how they would like the food? There are people who cannot eat from the same platter with others for various reasons. So either inform the guest or bring it as would be normal and appropriate. I don't go to a pizzeria, order the same thing as my companion and then expect a pizza on a platter for two.

My avocado & lachs on the toast was quite average so as the ginger tea. The next time I will try croque monsieur, which my friend had.

A place, attractive, not cheap, it bothered me a little that we ordered 2 coffees, almost 7 francs and then we asked for a little skim milk, they charged us 1 franc more on a not cheap menu...

Be ready, if you order 2 mins after 11.00, you will not be able to have a breakfast anymore. Basically, you cannot order food from 11 to 11.30. Which is okay, but I would expect you are told so when you enter cafe at 10.57 and either suggested to make an order fast or you at least staff is being nice and suggests you a coffee of cake while waiting.

Cosy bistro style restaurant/cafe serving French style yummy dishes and drinks. Lovely easy going, no fuss atmosphere and impeccable, friendly service makes this place a little hidden (or not so much now) gem - make sure you book well in advance!

The coq au vin was to die for, very yummy and a filling portion. The atmosphere was lovely for a calm Saturday night and both people at the service were polite and helpful with recommendations. I will for sure return for more. ☺️

We got here at 11:15 am. They wouldn’t serve us anything from the breakfast menu…too late. and they wouldn’t serve us anything from the lunch menu…too early,

Paying serious money for just average taste. Why in the hell is this franzos coffee shop using Prefab dressing while making a good daily fresh dressing (simple French dressing) is a 1 minute job. Convenience is not the answer. Quality is by making simple dishes fresh in the kitchen. Disappointed in the average taste.

Cute place. Location and view is nice. Inside is quite tight and small - but cozy. The coffee, ginger tea & croissant was good. We went around 11ish on a Tuesday and the service staff seemed to be in rush for lunch so there was a little bit of a wait/delay. No baby-changing-room/station.

Very unfriendly service staff. A waitress poured water on the jeans. Practically the entire front part of the jeans was wet. Nothing came except a short “Sorry”. It was only when I complained that I was very reluctantly given away my portion of the drinks. Good coffee but completely inexperienced and incompetent service staff.

So I found a hair in my food which is something that can happen. But the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that they charged me 3 franks for the tap water!!!!it wasn’t even the big one and hey didn’t even tell me that the water if for free because I was waiting for 15 minutes to get my food without a hair this time! Very disappointed not from the service but from the policy

We ended up in this very cozy “restaurant” by chance. We were greeted very friendly and served. We ordered breakfast for 2. It was very good, the hot chocolate dada, which really tasted like chocolate, was also very good. It's not cheap, but the price/performance ratio is right👍

Unfortunately the food was very bland and tasteless. Our expectations were very high. We had the Co Co Vin. It was beautifully presented but unfortunately the taste didn't correspond to French cuisine.

I would like to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at this restaurant. I made a considerable effort to travel a long distance to have breakfast at this beautiful and cozy establishment in the best location, investing in a not-so-inexpensive train ticket. Yesterday, I made a reservation by phone specifically for breakfast at 11 am. The staff took the reservation but failed to mention that they no longer serve breakfast at that time. Upon our arrival, there was no check of our reservation, and the apology seemed insincere, as if they just wanted to dismiss the mistake they made. Legitimate apologies would have been more acceptable, as mistakes can happen, but this experience was beyond tolerable

We made a reservation for breakfast at 11:00 AM yesterday, specifically requesting a seat away from the door. However, upon arrival, our reservation wasn't acknowledged, and to our dismay, breakfast service had concluded. It would have been appreciated if the restaurant had communicated that breakfast was no longer available at the time of our reservation. I hope you can address this issue with the establishment, considering we made the reservation a day in advance, and implement measures to enhance reservation management.

Nice cozy cafe with teasty toasts and crepes. Will go there again.

Discovered the French restaurant with the best location in Zurich with two colleagues. Everything tasted excellent. The starter, main course and dessert were a culinary delight. The dish “faux escargots de boeuf” is particularly recommended. We were served by Olive. An extremely competent young lady who was also able to recommend an excellent wine to us. We will definitely come back.

If you feel like eating lukewarm food, eating with three people at a small table for two despite a reservation and still paying normal, hefty prices for Zurich, with a pretty overwhelmed service staff (who at least also speak German, but unfortunately none of them have that). influence on the quality of the food), then the Frenchman is exactly right. I don't usually like to give bad reviews, but it was just another disappointment. A pity! ☹️

Simple and delicious breakfast. The coffees are delicious, the staff is friendly. Prices are a little higher than normal, but it’s normal for Switzerland.

Fab fab fab!! I love this place so much! It's a gorgeous little french bistro with maybe 10 tables inside and a tiny terrasse! Located right next to the river with a great view of many landmarks in Zurich (and of course of the bustling city goers around you) you get served a really nice coffee for a totally acceptable price for the city centre. Latte macchiato cost 6.70.- which yes is pricy for coffee in general, but was very big, perfectly blended and came with an exquisite french biscuit! I would love to come back and try their menu! Beware it's popular so you might not find a seat, but it's always worth a try ;) Merci beaucoup!

The Franzos is a small café bistro in the heart of Zurich. We drank chai latte which was really tasty and spicy. We were welcomed very friendly and shown to a table. Unfortunately the café is really quite cramped but apart from that we liked it.

My friend and I went to have breakfast. Waitress looked over us to take orders from the people that came in after us. I guess they don't like African American people. He went to every one table except our table. We ended up going to Starbucks.

Really really bad service. Pretty much ruined the experience. Not worth it.

Came here with great expectations but were so disappointed. Nobody acknowledged us when entering the place despite a couple of staff being next to us. We had to ask for a menu, ask 3 times for water, ask twice for some butter. The food was meh, eggs were dry and undersalted. The staff make you feel you're a nuisance by being there. There was even a point when they were blocking the way and DID NOT MOVE after I said "excuse me" twice. Avoid.

This cosy and beautiful cafe is located in the old town. I tried their coffee (my favourite is cappucino), hot chocolate, croissants and vegetarian quiche. And everything was super delicious. Their staff is very friendly and the service is great. (I will recommend to have a reservation before you go.)

Busy little French Bistro. Reasonable prices for Zurich standards. Coq au vin at under 30CHF was quite good. Friendly service, English spoken.

Come for the coffee but then never come again due to awful service. If you like to be ignored or enjoy being treated as an annoyance if you somehow grab them for some attention then this is the place for you. I've never seen a more miserable bunch of staff and for Switzerland that's saying something.

Coffee is good, however, the service is extremely bad. Absolutely rude staff, slow service, and not worth it. There are better places.

The food is super tasty and the ambience is really great, but the staff is really incompetent. You wait forever, they simply don't see you and when you speak to them directly, they react coldly or even annoyed. Unfortunately it ruins your mood.

Waited for 40 mins and didn't get my water or coffee while everyone else who got there after me did. I asked twice and still nothing so I left.

We stopped in here twice during our visit to Zurich, once for dinner and once for breakfast. We had great service, great food, and a lovely environment. After our delicious dinner (the quiche and lemon pie and amazing!), we decided to come back again for breakfast. Unfortunately they don’t serve the quiche for breakfast, but their coffee is also great. Highly recommend for any meal of the day.

Best croque monsieur I ever had!!

Despite the staff having no problem greeting every other customer that walked in after us, we were met with silence and a customer was the one to point us to a seat instead. We had to ask for a menu ourselves. With 4 "staff" in that little cafe it sure seems like no one wants to work. Food was nothing special. Coffee was good. Found a blonde hair in my drink, I have black hair. Save your money :)

A lovely coffee shop. Very cool hang out spot to refresh yourself. The beautiful waitress was so incredibly kind to serve me a croissant, even though it was after breakfast hours. I appreciated her kindness greatly! 😊

Spontaneously had breakfast in the restaurant (it seems to be very popular at the weekend, especially for breakfast - it will be difficult without a prior reservation)! The French bistro impresses with its ambience and furnishings - the breakfast (in our case the "small breakfast") was delicious. The price-performance ratio is right here. Highly recommend the cappuccino (one of the best I had in Zurich). The female service was Very friendly and accommodating - the male waitress (around 30 years old), on the other hand, was unfriendly and in a bad mood. But overall, highly recommended!

This charming French cafe is set in a busy but optimal location near the main train-station. Pros: Great ambience with a good mix of clientele. The food and beverages are delicious. Cons: can get noisy inside. Service in recent months just isn’t up to par.

Visited two times during a trip to Switzerland. Enjoyed a little breakfast, the lemon pie. After a week I came back and had the best quiche of my life. Will definitely return when I'm in Zurich.

Well, that was a spontaneous visit to the Franzos. We sat inside. Were pleasantly surprised. The aperitif, the food, the dessert and the attentive service. Simply very good. We enjoyed enjoying the evening with you.

The breakfast experience is delicious and light, scrambled eggs and avocado sauce on the side. I liked it, and the coffee is delicious. A wonderful experience. The place is open. I can sit inside with the doors open. I liked the idea. It is located near a group of restaurants, the train station, and the shopping area... good service 🥰✌️ Worth a visit.

The staff was very unfriendly. My girlfriend and I wanted to go out for a drink and as we were looking for a place, a waiter rudely told us that there was no more space. As we were about to leave, we saw two people about to leave. So we waited until the seat became available, when the same waiter pointed out to us again that there was no more space. We should basically finally leave. When we said that this table would soon be available, he said: “Ah, ok. But we don't serve crepes here." Since we wanted to eat a crepe, but this is apparently only possible in half of the restaurant, we finally left. We won't be coming back either.

Excellent service. Came here for breakfast, we ordered the big breakfast for two (can’t remember what exactly it was called). It was very good and plenty of food for two people. Also had a couple of mimosas, be prepared they are strong but DELICIOUS! Highly recommended!

Great experience and very tasty and fresh food. Liking my breakfast sweet, I went for the Full Breakfast option. Everything was full of flavour, from honey to ham to breads to cheeses. My black coffee was great as well. Prior to coming there for brunch, I read quite a few negative reviews about their staff but decided to take a chance as my focus was the food. Our overall experience was very enjoyable and the staff tending to our needs was very pleasant and helpful. She took a moment to answer our questions and provided some recommendations related to tourist attractions as well as Swiss cuisine restaurants. I would go back there again.

The small restaurant Franzos has a wonderful location on the Limmat. The French flair can be felt immediately in this family-run place. The employees are very warm-hearted people. I didn't order anything to eat, but I still tried something here and there. I can warmly recommend “Monaco” as a drink here! Will definitely come here again.

Excellent crepes!! French beers, French aperitifs....it's good for us expats to find a little piece of France. Well appointed location facing the lake, not far from the main station on foot. I've been there several times and I LOVED it!!! Although at the end of July, the service was a bit random 😳🤔😅 We had our pancakes with goat cheese and then with red fruits. That's the main thing 🙏🏻🍀🙌🏻

Iced coffee means with ice cubes,😂 Small cold coffee with “normal” ice cubes. And that for 6.50 CHF

Would have loved to try this place because it seems really good, but unfortunately was greeted by the rudest and unwelcoming waiter, who was not willing to accommodate any of our requests, and kept interrupting me every time I wanted to ask anything.

The male staff was kind and welcoming. The food and coffee is delicious and we particularly enjoyed basking in the sun at the outside sitting area while having our brunch. We both had a lovely time 🩵 the crepes are yummy and the portion for the quiche great too.

Great tasting coffee not too bitter. The simple breakfast was just what we fancied. A delicious butter croissant (the best I've had in Switzerland) with fresh bread, jam honey and butter. All of it was high quality the jam was full of fruit and the honey yummy.

Food is ok, but the quality of service can be quite improved. Ordered grapefruit juice, received orange one. Long waiting to get the waiter/ ress come get another order. Ordered a sweet crepe and was waiting probably 20-30 minutes. Asked again about it. At the end just asked to pay (no crepe). And place wasn’t full

Had the excellent tete-a-tete breakfast! Everything tasted great, was fresh, and presented beautifully! Came back the next day for a Croque Monsieur and Salmon Tartine, also delicious!

Great food and coffee, 5 stars.. Sadly, the experience is spoiled by the rudeness of one of the staff. We went for brunch and were greeted in a rather abrupt and unfriendly manner by a male. The waitress made up for his rudeness and the food was excellent, so we went back the following day. However, we were again greeted in a similar way by the same guy. He needs to deal with his demeanor as it makes things unpleasant and uncomfortable for his customers. What a pity.

As always, the food was delicious, the staff was very nice. Reservations recommended from 5 p.m. The only downer is that it's very tight to sit inside in some areas, which is why it's only rated 4*.
