Beautiful mountain restaurant designed with lots of wood. Cheerful service at the self-service checkout. Easy hike from the parking lot at the church up to the restaurant. Great mountain view of the beautiful Churfirsten and the Schafberg. Starting point for many hikes in the Alpstein, Schafberg and Säntis. If you want, you can whiz down to the valley on a scooter. Nice terrace.

There were a few choices for food. Self-service. You could sit well on the warm terrace. I was missing pillows and blankets, maybe there were. But I didn't see any.

ATTENTION CASH PAYMENT ONLY POSSIBLE It feels like the only place in Switzerland where you have to rely on cash. In Switzerland you even have the option of paying with TWINT in the farmer's shop on the Alp. I would even have been willing to pay an additional fee for Twint/card. But you obviously don't want to make any money.

Fun and rustic experience. Just typically Swiss... nice but not luxurious. A woman served everything from the train to the cash register to the resti and was friendly and helpful. Since there was no more snow, despite the ski season, you could go down on a scooter instead of a sleigh. We only had a café and dessert, so I can't give much information about the food.

Nice view but very hard dry fries and the schnitzel too dry... it's a shame I'll just drink something next time!!!

Mountain restaurant with a wonderful view and there are also good things to eat and drink

Fun place, something for locals. No luxury, no frills. Good for families with children for sledding or as a starting point for snowshoe hikes. I haven't been up yet in the summer.

The train costs 15 per person and if there are many people you have to wait longer. The restaurant on the mountain has wooden furnishings. Unfortunately, our very small portions for 17.50 and 23.00 Fr. were far from worth the money. You can expect a lot more for this money. The portions of fries for 9.- at the table opposite are probably more like 5-6 Fr. The hot drinks are good but the cups are chipped and faded. Unfortunately you can only pay in cash. I hope that this really great place gets a refresh.

A somewhat hidden gem full of adventure possibilities. A small godola lift brings you to the top. From there you can go hiking, enjoy the panorama or have lunch at the restaurant. To get down you can walk, use the gondola or rent a bob and have some fun in the snow.

We only drank coffee, but the atmosphere was cozy and the owners were nice

There wasn't much on offer when we came here to eat on Sunday afternoon: no warm dishes - just barley soup. We took those too. However, there were almost no other guests there at this time - so understandable. The interiors are decorated in very nice light wood, certainly nice even in bad weather. Outside there is a large sun terrace with a view to welcome all the skiers in winter or a few hikers in summer on weekends. Nice place to refresh yourself during a hike or a day of skiing or to enjoy a house coffee.

I only had a hot chocolate, but I'll definitely eat something next time. Desserts looked fine.

Nice excursion restaurant. It is right next to a gondola station. You only pay after the journey. The restaurant is set up like a canteen. Lots of signs, you first have to quickly find your way around what the processes are like. I couldn't even find the daily menu board. I had a schnitzel with salad, which was really tasty. The service was also very friendly. Toilets are outside the building. There are various hiking trails with beautiful views. I'll definitely come back again

Cozy, fine and friendly service

Unfriendly and overwhelmed when a “larger” group (there were 18 of us) came. And we were registered. Only cash payment is accepted. On the way down, we "young" people rode on scooters so that the older guard could take the train and we could all reach the valley at the same time. Was the idea. But the train was only let down into the valley after we had reached the bottom on the scooters. You don't have to understand...but the people in charge should look for jobs outside of tourism.

The place is very nice, but the gentleman at the checkout should work on his friendliness. If you, as a guest without any special requirements or wishes, have the feeling that you are not welcome at all, I don't think that is good for business.

The quality of the food does not correspond to the price. Tough meat in the cream sauce, all very salty and small portions. But meatloaf was A1.

We were at the Gamplüt 2 days ago and wanted to inquire about the scooters, but there was only a grumpy old woman at the checkout who came with my children because they didn't answer straight away. Children are 4,6 and 8 years old and were very intimidated. We will definitely never use this train again

Very poorly organized and really unfriendly! After a coffee in the mountain restaurant, we rented four scooters to ride to the valley station. We paid for the four scooters to the lady at the checkout and received a piece of paper with “4 bez” written on it. For reasons we couldn't explain, the gentleman who handed out the scooter didn't believe that we had paid. Only after an unnecessary discussion with the lady and gentleman did we get the scooters. On the way down we passed a restaurant with a nice view and spontaneously decided to have a drink. We didn't sit here for 5 minutes when a transporter suddenly appeared and a gentleman stormed out and asked who these scooters were for. Before we could react, he opened the tailgate and started loading all the scooters. He said we had signed to go straight down and that the scooters would be needed, even though there were still around 70 of them up there. We said that it wasn't clear to us and we weren't told that we had to go straight down and that we were going to do that now. But the gentleman was far too upset for further discussion. So we accepted it with amazement - also because there was a huge Rottweiler sitting in the transporter. And so we're sitting here now, enjoying our second unplanned beer. We've never experienced anything so cheeky and absolutely exaggerated and we won't be coming back here either.

Some friends and I had to walk up to the Camplüt hut and then descend with the trotinetts. Unfortunately, however, after arriving at the hut, sitting on some tables to have a picnic, we were immediately chased away by the managers because we had misunderstood that it was possible to eat out there. For this reason we were denied the possibility of going down with the trotinetts. Missed friendliness and hospitality.

Very unfriendly reception. (You) get yelled at if you want to pay by card (the exorbitant prices). Attention, at Twint you get an extra commission! I hope there will be a change soon. If only the kitchen was as innovative as the existing power supply then there could be potential for improvement.

Really unwelcoming and unpleasant contact. Don't even go for the trotinettes, they refused us with a group of children (after having accepted the telephone reservation). We descend from the mountain full of disconsolate.

If I could I would give zero stars. We are a camp group and wanted to give the children a nice day. We got to the restaurant and it was raining cats and dogs and was very cold, so we went in and hoped that since the place was empty we would be offered a place in the dry. They denied our request and sent us out. After eating lunch in the cold, we wanted to go down on the scooter, but we were refused permission to go down. The reason? Apparently there were too many children (13 children to 5 adults?!) but the reasoning from the staff was inconsistent and incomprehensible until we finally told us the truth, they thought we had behaved badly because we asked for a seat and our shoes were dirty (and probably noticed in the mountains). We had to run down with the children with disappointed faces. To put it simply, we were insulted and denied the departure we had reserved.

The old woman is rude and spiteful. The man is aggressive and stresses the customers.

Great hiking area, great terrace with a great view. Great respect from the woman who ran the entire operation on her own and always did everything in a friendly manner. She operated the gondola, the cash register, made the food, etc. It was just amazing what she did throughout the whole day. The prices are always somewhat relative, we found them to be fair.

The terrace is large and a real sun terrace!! Drinks and food totally overpriced. The train up is also way too expensive! Service friendly and accommodating. You can only pay in cash or via Twint and there is an additional fee. Take a big wallet with you and you can enjoy it!!!

You can only pay with cash. Absolutely out of date. The food was...well... The fries were extremely over-seasoned. The potato salad consisted of potatoes with seasoned liquid "mayo". It's also a shame that there were only 2 deck chairs there, so you could have enjoyed the good location and the sun better.

The restaurant is still run the same way it probably was 30 years ago. That's how the food tastes too. Far too expensive for a self-service restaurant. In addition, you can only pay in cash. If you go as a family, you should take a well-filled wallet with you.

The service was very friendly and attentive. The menu is good for a mountain restaurant and the Swiss wines they offer are certainly good. If there is a lot going on, there is self-service with a good selection. There are also children's menus, as the restaurant and the entire surrounding area are very child-friendly.

Nice view from the terrace. Coffee inedible, self-service counter not inviting, cream slices and cakes not cooled. It's a shame, we won't be going there again.

Thanks to a little persuasion, we were then able to pay for everything with TWINT, albeit with a surcharge. Something special these days, although absolutely friendly staff. . The scooter ride was ok, the scooters themselves were a bit old, but fully functional... but the surroundings are brilliant and worth a visit at any time.

If you go hiking in the Wildhauser Schafberg region, a stop in Gamplüt is almost mandatory, especially if you are hungry and thirsty and descend from the Schafberg into the valley. Gamplüt is not only a mountain restaurant but also the Wildaus-Gamplüt cable car mountain station. Gamplüt is also used to generate energy through a wind turbine directly at the mountain farm. You can go downhill by cable car, by scooter or, in winter, by sleigh. The restaurant has a very large sun terrace for many guests. The restaurant is very cozy and rustic. Food was very tasty and plentiful. There is a lot of homemade stuff on offer. The drink selection is a bit confusing. There is plenty of choice but only at room temperature. We were only given chilled beer when we asked at the bar. However, this refrigerator is only accessible to the staff. If you don't ask, you only get warm drinks. It's a bit old-fashioned that only cash payment is possible. But the staff was very friendly. From the inn you have a great view of the Obertoggenburger Land with the Churfirsten and of course up to the summit of the Schafberg.

During our bike tour we took our lunch break here. The self-service restaurant is old and looks very worn out. Gardening has seen better days. In the self-service area you have to ask for cold drinks, there are only uncooled drinks on display, the staff was certainly more motivated and the food was ok but nothing more. Only cash is accepted and that in this day and age... If we can avoid it, we won't come here again. The view is great, the location would be wonderful. It would be a gem if you invested and did a lot here and enjoyed your job. There is some innovation with wind turbines and solar walls.

Nice excursion destination with a concert every Sunday at lunchtime

Very rude owner. After a long walk after which we ran out of water, we asked to fill our water bottles. With a sigh he agreed. Immediately afterwards he asked what we wanted to pay. When we indicated that we had no cash with us, he emptied the bottles again! When we walked away the owner scolded my girlfriend.

The view up here of the Churfirsten is wonderful. Nice big terrace where you can eat and drink. The food was quite okay. I don't understand that you can only pay with cash. In this day and age this is a must.

Was on Tuesday May 10, 22 with a hiking group of 23 participants in the Gamplüt mountain restaurant. Everyone was allowed to pick up the drink from the self-service and choose from the wide range of delicious offerings at the checkout, which were served in a short time by very friendly staff. The mountain restaurant is in a wonderful hiking area with great views. The area is recommended for hiking at any time of the year. If you don't want to hike, you can easily reach the mountain restaurant with the gondola.

Great place, beautiful view, restaurant offers homemade delicacies. Great, nice service, especially fast. Clean. You can go up on foot or use the gondola and down with Trotinet. The mountain offers many options :-)

Good food, great views and a great train. Adventure for kids guaranteed. Whiz down to the valley on a sleigh or scooter!

Unfortunately we were deceived because we were offered a special daily price as a group of more than 10 people. On the second trip we had to pay again and more than what was estimated online. The operator of the train is unfriendly and stubborn about his rights. Half of the piste is not passable. 2 stars only because of the great panorama. Not recommended more than a sledding excursion.

Very unfriendly host. He doesn't even manage to fetch his two dogs when guests ask... and then becomes abusive and threatening. Gamplüt deserves better service and better gastronomy. It's a shame, because the location would be great, but there's no host!

Short and nice stopover on the hike!

Simple but good! The buffet management is a bit confusing!

Gamplüt is on the sunny side, warm, but the snow also disappears faster. Is simple and quieter, for families and older people. Good starting point for hikes, snow hiking and skiing and sledding. With a simple restaurant.

The barber has two huge dogs that he simply lets run free or ties up in front of the entrance. Our dog doesn't get along well with others, but the barber didn't care. That's not possible!!!!!!! There are also people who are afraid of dogs!

Unfortunately, the two toboggan runs on the Davoserschlitten are not accessible. The faster and direct route to the valley station is not suitable for children! Gamplüt just lacks some pizzazz at the moment! I will only hike up as a pedestrian!

Very nice recreational area! Unfortunately, the waiting begins in the gondola; Both 6s are full but the train is waiting. In the 6-person gondolas there is no distance (shoulder to shoulder) - the main thing is to have as many paying guests as possible. Arriving at the top is completely different: there are 2 meter distance markings for paying! Show certificate in the restaurant (2G is now valid) - none! The main thing is that the ruble rolls. However, only 1 person is allowed in the toilets. Conclusion: Great environment - restaurant a flop.

"Istiege - door closes" and off you go in the nostalgic, small double gondola lift up to the Gamplüt. Hectic pace and stress are foreign words up there, they don't exist. I can recharge my batteries in this wonderful area, look at the Churfirsten, marvel at the Schafsberg and look somewhat gleefully into the foggy valley. Cheers again.

A great path from Wildhaus to the Gamplüt mountain hut. The Berg Hütte offers a large selection of food including good cakes. Unfortunately the coffee is more like black tea, i.e. watery without much taste! No card payment possible, which would be an advantage these days!
