Magical! The small rooms of the old Appenzeller house are furnished with great attention to detail, the atmosphere is stylish and cozy. There must be a magician at work in the kitchen. The food looks beautiful and tastes just as wonderful. The enchanting innkeeper carries out her work in a highly professional manner with a lot of passion. I've never written a restaurant review before, but I couldn't help myself here - really magical!

Exceptional: Very nice restaurant with a typical Appenzell interior ambiance, efficient and particularly friendly service... and excellent food. We only tasted the vegetarian options (rösti and risotto) and the desserts, everything was delicious, to the point of returning the next day.

The first impression from the outside is deceptive, it looks like a tried and tested Appenzeller pub and the inside is cozy and furnished with attention to detail. The food is excellent, fresh and creatively prepared. Great value is placed on enjoyment here. The boss is very friendly and competent. We will be back! ❤️

What a restaurant! Host Jessica is living her dream here. She welcomes guests incredibly warmly (not feigned, but REAL warmth) in her beautiful and cozy restaurant. The food tasted excellent and was prepared and presented with a lot of love. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Big praise to the entire team, that's exactly how you as a guest want to leave the restaurant: satisfied, full, smiling and with the knowledge that we'll be back!

Over the weekend we took a trip to Heiden and visited the romantic and homely restaurant Bären. This restaurant is run with a lot of love. This is noticeable in the beautifully designed menu. The service was great. We immediately felt at home in this restaurant. The venison fillet and the beef fillet on a hot stone were heavenly. We'd love to come back!

Excellent food and enjoyed wonderful wine. Whether game, hot stone or vegetarian, everything is very enjoyable in a homely atmosphere. Gladly again.

We're at the Bären for lunch. There wasn't much choice, however the chanterelle risotto and saltimboca were excellent, and a very generous portion. Very friendly service. Highly recommended .

The atmosphere is very cozy and traditional. The staff is very accommodating and what I love most is the food, it is always cooked to perfection and very tasty. We will be back!

1 hour waiting time for the food. The cordon bleu was undercooked. When this was pointed out, instead of a correction or apology, excuses were responded to. I ordered a risotto - I received watery rice. Sorry, but I can do it better myself and I'm not a professional chef. I won't eat at Bären again for a long time.

Dinner was a delight. Beautifully furnished, loving hostess, very fine food. We'd love to come back.

A dream every time. Great taste combined with rustic flair. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable for the quality. The greeting from the kitchen is very tasty and it is not always the same. We had the lamb and the schnitzel once and the venison fillet and beef fillet on another visit. The quality of the meat is very good and so is the way the dishes are prepared on the hot stone. There is also a delicious schnitzel that tasted just as good. The desserts don't have to hide either.

It always has a variety of soups, salads and main courses, perfectly seasoned and inexpensive. 👍🏼 It's also incredibly cozy in the evening, and every now and then there are life bands with different styles of music 🎹🎺🎼🪗 We laughed a lot and the atmosphere is just great 🍀. Jessi (landlady) makes you feel very comfortable and welcome, she fulfills almost every wish of her guests 😊👍🏼💖🙏🏼. I remain loyal to Jessi and her team 😃 Greetings Kati

It was excellent experience having a dinner here - all meals were really tasty, the same for dessert. We also had a bottle of sparkling wine - also really good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Friendly staff - we felt there hone. I only wish I could pay by card here.

Wir sind spontan in das Restaurant gegangen und sie hatten glücklicherweise noch ein Plätzchen frei für uns. Besser mit Reservation hingehen. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und das Essen war sehr gut. Kleine Karte, da der Koch alleine ist. Gruss der Küche, Vorspeise, Hauptgang sowie Dessert waren grosszügige Portionen. Sehr heimelig eingerichtet und sehr romantisch. Wir waren absolut begeistert. Zwischen Vorspeise und Hauptgang mussten wir etwas länger warten, jedoch hat sich die Dame des Hauses dafür entschuldigt. Wir waren nicht im Stress deshalb war das für uns überhaupt kein Problem. Es war für uns ein absolut gelungener Abend und es gab noch ein "Absackerli" auf das Haus.

Einfach nur Wow.Es beginnt bereits mit einer lieben Begrüssung durch die Chefin, ein feiner Apero, und anschliessend das fantastische Essen sehr gut zubereitet und heiss serviert. Wieder einmal haben wir eine Perle entdeckt die sich nicht zu verstecken muss... Der Gruss aus der Küche, die Tagesempfehlung Rindstartar, das mega Cordonbleu alles vom Feinsten. Auch die Gastfreundschaft wird ausserordentlich hoch gehalten. Zuletzt möchte ich noch die stilvolle und gemütliche Ambiente hervorheben. Prädikat sehr empfehlenswert!
