Gertrudhof in Zürich

Not for fans of light cuisine and diet fanatics... But the Cordonbleus are simply delicious. Service has its own charm, but fits perfectly. Always my pleasure.

I don't understand why this place is so popular..the service is nice and friendly. The atmosphere is also good. But the prices do not correspond to the meal quality. I was here three times already. First time was the Cordon Bleu which was was ok (I would rate it 3 or 4 stars). The second time was lunch menu which was quite good with a nice soup, and lunch menu also has better price. The third time was Wienerschnitzel which is quite bad. Too thin, too burned, too much breading soaked in oil. Please Google restaurant "Palmenhaus" in Vienna to see how Wienerschnitzel looks like. This could be a really nice restaurant if they improved the quality of food and maybe added more healthy and fresh side dishes. At the moment the quality of Schnitzel is as a standard Schni-Po from a Ski cottage in the Alps. The french fries seem to be from the supermarket and not fresh made, quite oily. It could be still good option for lunch menu though. I will come again to try the cordon bleu, maybe with a salad instead of the fries.

we order from time to time. Normally very good food, unfortunately this time we received the wrong thing. When we called the resti we were told that eat.ch was responsible, unfortunately there was only a contact form. well no dinner for me 🤷‍♀️

Great cordon bleu at a normal Zürich price but the restaurant itself is a little cramped.

The Gertrudhof: Great service staff, cool boss... one of my favorite restaurants in Zurich for years. Cordon Bleu available in all variants! Great ambience and incredibly delicious food, in my opinion by far the best Cordon Bleu restaurant in the city of Zurich! I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Gertrudhof to everyone! It's always fun with you!

Neighborhood classic and probably the best cordon bleu in Zürich. Incredibly satisfying, delicious and sometimes even creative with an impressive menu going from the traditional to the more inventive versions of this dish.

I was today 02.13.24 for lunch in this restaurant specializing in cordon bleu. There is a large choice of cordonbleu. Both the cordon bleu that I ate and the side dish (Rösti) were very good. The place is small and welcoming. I highly recommend it to cordon bleu lovers!!

Wow! Just wow! This place has been on my list for a long time, and I finally went there last night. Where shall I begin? The menu offers a LOT to choose from. They even have vegetarian and vegan options. I went for the garlic Cordon Bleu. The garlic flavour couldn't have been more intense. It had a generous amount of cheese in it and it was also very crunchy. A straight 10/10 The whole vibe of the restaurant feels very authentic. Sort of like you are going to someone's home. An authentic "Beiz" I would say. The service was amazing as well. We were warmly greeted got recommendations and were asked if everything was alright multiple times without being too pushy. So if you are in Zurich and you are looking for a place to have great Cordon Bleu, this place is a MUST!

Small, rustic “Bezen-style” restaurant. There is a large selection of delicious cordon bleu here. Vegetarians will also find what they are looking for here. The staff is friendly and uncomplicated. Be sure to reserve! It is advisable to stick to the reserved times exactly, as the tables are allocated several times.

The best cordon bleu I've ever eaten

Mega large card with different Cordonbleus and even a season card with Cordonbleus. and the whole thing in 3 Cordonbleu sizes and about 5 different side dishes. We were a bit overwhelmed. Unfortunately we could only sit outside and in the fall it gets cold at some point, even with blankets provided. Very tasty cordonbleus at a good price. Service was very nice. We try our way through the menu and look forward to every new creation.

Prices beyond good and evil... ~68 CHF for 340 gr of veal WITHOUT a side dish - nice price increase, 2 years ago it was somewhere around ~63 CHF... and then they reduced the amount of meat... limited reservation time, gruff but attentive and fast waiters and the ambience isn't really the real deal either... food very good and really great variations, price-performance ratio 1/5... the location isn't so central that you could somehow justify it... when I spent almost 100 CHF for ~340 gr of meat, 1 side dish and 2 beers (WITHOUT an appetizer, coffee or dessert!), then I want you to blow me away not only in terms of taste but also with the ambience and service. 3 stars because I'm in a good mood. Still, never again!

The selection of Cordon Bleus is huge. Each Cordon Bleu is available in three sizes and with either pork or veal. The selection of side dishes is also large. The prices are on the higher side, but match the quality of the food. The service is friendly and approachable, humane with rough edges. The atmosphere is rustic without any frills. The small dining room has relatively tight seating and so you have to accept that the acoustics are at best not suitable if you are aiming for a romantic first meeting here. There are currently various barley juices available on tap and in bottles from “Bier Paul”, a small local brewery.

We were there with my mother and my two teenage children. At first glance, the furnishings seem old-fashioned: like a run-of-the-mill neighborhood pub. But it's really cozy: the urban crowd you meet here knows that too. I had hazelnut salad and a gorgonzola cordon bleu. This was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside: it couldn't be prepared better. The same applies to the Sweet Potatoes Fries. I know how difficult it is to get these crispy. The service was friendly and prompt. The prices are Zurich high. But it's worth the price.

The Gertrudhof charges ridiculous prices. The food is fine, but the small portions do not justify the price and the understaffed service. In order to order or pay you have to make a lot of effort to draw attention to yourself. After two hours, even a consuming company is asked to leave, which was not mentioned in advance on the phone. The rustic atmosphere is of no use either.

Classic cordon bleu place. The cordon bleu itself is correct and properly made. The fries with it were unfortunately pretty bland and the condiments were downright awful. For the price point it is not okay to offer the lowest quality ketchup and mayo in bulk containers. In general the star of the show is fine but everything around it needs attention. The wine list could definitely be improved as well.

Gertrudhof is an institution! Cordon Bleu is definitely top notch. And that's exactly why we came here ;) Large selection, nice atmosphere. It didn't bother us that it was well attended. Service very attentive and quick. Short-term reservations were possible. Prices are okay too. Would love to come back. See you soon!

One of my fave cordon bleu place in Zurich. I love the varieties and pricing. They also have special (limited edition) flavour on a regular basis. Recommend the garlic flavour if you into it ;) or standard. XL is a bit big for me, but always able to finish it :)

The Gertrudhof restaurant in Zurich offered me a wonderful gastronomic experience. My dish, the Gordon Bleu with a hint of chili, was superbly prepared and had just the right amount of spice. We visited the restaurant with our team of work colleagues and had a great evening. The service was outstanding and the food was high quality. Only the seating was a little tight, but other than that everything was first class. A recommended restaurant for a successful evening in Zurich!

A specialty cordon bleu restaurant... that's a first. I love a cordon bleu, so that was a treat, and I must say, definitely the best cordon bleu I have had. There are many options to choose from with various types of cured meat and cheese. We all had a "mini," which is a perfectly good portion. The normal size would be quite heavy already, and I can't imagine the large one. Another option would be to share the large size. They have two price points, for pork and veal, veal is more expensive, of course, but worth it, IMO. Sides are not included; the regular fries are just OK, but the sweet potato fries were really good. Large outdoor terrace, but the inside was chill and nice.

The Gertrudhof is a neighborhood restaurant/pub that offers cordon bleu (and other dishes) in all possible variations (there is also something for veggies). The Cordon Bleu and the Rösti were ok but nothing special. The shop impresses with its ambience (in summer you can eat comfortably outside on the district street and in winter you can sit in the rustic pub atmosphere). The service was very courteous and friendly and this made you immediately feel at home.

Great place to enjoy a large selection of Cordon Bleu. If you don't eat much at lunchtime, you can easily eat the Mega Cordon Bleu in the evening! Spätzli as a side dish was great. See you soon

Now this…. This is a proper Swiss meal. The best cordon bleu I’ve had in Zurich over the years, hands down. And the staff are always so very welcoming and personable, even when my German sucks. Thank you Gertrudhof!

We spontaneously got one of the last tables and were not disappointed. The range of cordon bleu is huge and they are all available with Swiss or veal. The Gertrudhof also offers an equivalent range of vegan/vegetarian dishes. Everything was very tasty, service was relaxed and attentive despite the many guests. We'll definitely be back!

After a long absence, we went back to the Gertudhof for a delicious Cordon Bleu. The selection is very extensive (approx. 23 meat variants and approx. 5 vegi/vegan variants). I wanted to try something new and decided on the “Spicy Ernesto”. I shouldn't regret the choice. The "Ernesto" came with a green sauce. A good spiciness that doesn't overpower the actual taste of the dish (exactly my thing, because I don't like it when I only taste the hot sauce but not the dish). For those who like it spicy, there was additional sauce on a separate spoon. Now to the meat, you can tell that it is sourced from a trusted butcher. Juicy and not chewy at all, that's how it should be! The cheese was nicely stringy and also tasted like cheese (which is not a given everywhere). Ordered vegetables instead of fries as a side dish. There was nothing wrong here either. Hot, not overcooked and still with a slight bite and beautiful color. The service was friendly, attentive and completely correct. The whole meal was rounded off with 2 beers, completely happy and full from Dannen. I recommend making a reservation for your visit. Always my pleasure!!

Probably the best restaurant in Zurich to eat fine Cordon Bleu's. Delicious food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Plus the great location right next to Idaplatz.

Today I unfortunately have to say that the visit to the Gertrudhof was disappointing. We only come 3-4 times a year, but we have been doing so for several years. As always, we had the normal-sized Cordon Bleu, the quality of the food and its preparation was excellent as always. Still the best Cordon Bleu far and wide. However, none of us were full today, despite the side dish (the Cordon Bleu were definitely smaller than before). We also told the service specialist in a friendly manner and asked if there was anything wrong with the greetings, but we only received a killer look without comment. We were still thinking about whether we should have dessert, but after we sat with empty glasses for half an hour thanks to our skilful disregard, we decided to change restaurants. It's a shame, we weren't used to that at the Getrudhof. Maybe it will work better next time, but there will definitely be a longer break.

The cordon-bleu with the sweet potato fries was awesome. I had a great time there. A great selection of different kinds of cordon-blues served with various side dishes like fries or sweet potato fries. I would recommend making a reservation in advance, since it was well-visited the last time I was there. The service was fast and very kind. If I carve cordon-blue, I would definitely go there again.

The service was very understaffed but friendly and tried to offer good service. There is a huge selection of cordon bleu and vegetarian offerings. We had to wait a very long time for the food. The meat cordon bleu was very good. The vegetarian spelled cordon bleu, on the other hand, isn't at all. It was very chewy and very fatty. The cheese inside was probably heated too much and the fat separated from the cheese. In general, the spelled cordon bleu didn't taste sophisticated, but rather exclusively fatty and salty. The side vegetables were also fatty. I had stomach pains all night afterwards. The location seemed rustic, but it was a little too noisy and the seating was too close together.

The cordon bleu was good. The salad and dessert too. All in all, pretty average and nothing out of the ordinary. The atmosphere outside wasn't the best either. You sit pretty close to each other. The price/performance ratio isn't quite right, not even for Zurich.

No. 1 Cordonbleu, just the best. Price for the large one with veal on a hard level at somewhere around 70 nails, but it was worth it. It's estimated that you're consuming 2 days' worth of calories in one meal because you just can't stop eating...

Delicious cordon bleu, friendly service in a cool area of Zurich

Great Corson Bleus. A huge map with various variations. Not exactly cheap, but always worth a visit. Also because of the great service.

We are welcomed very friendly. Although I booked a table inside, we were allowed to sit outside. We ordered red wine. It went well with us and is rated very well in my friends' wine connoisseurs' guide. We ordered Gordon Bleu Original, "mir ish like" and spicy Ernesto. The Gordon Bleus were outstanding!! Very well filled with delicious ingredients. Since my colleagues were in Switzerland for the first time, they wanted to try Rösti, which was unfortunately sold out because it was relatively late in the evening. But we really liked the sweet potato fries. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the service was very attentive. All in all a very successful evening. I'm definitely coming back!!

Absolute best cordon bleu I had during my trip to Switzerland. Too bad I only found this place on my final night, would have gladly gone again. The truffle cordon bleu was fantastic and the rosti was crispy and more importantly delicious. Was made to feel very welcome as both a solo diner and a foreigner. I look forward to returning to Switzerland and eating here again.

They got the order wrong and blamed my friend for it, despite 3 witnesses at the table confirming they heard them order the exact thing they expected. In the end they did NOT change the order, my friend had to accept the other item.

Simply the best cordon bleu in Zurich

Great restaurant with super fine Cordon Bleus. Among the best I've ever had! Portions seem small, but fill quite well. The staff is GREAT! Very friendly and uncomplicated. The only point of criticism: paying extra for the supplement and generally the price are on the upper limit, despite the great quality. 2 salads, 2 Cordon Bleus (normal size) veal with fries, 1L water... 135.- francs.

Great restaurant and unbeatable Cordon Bleu

This is the second time I have ordered veal cordon bleu online but both times I received pork. I don't believe in a coincidence. I haven't complained but I will never order anything again. This is an old trick to make more money - it's so unfair and it offends the customers' taste buds.
