Govinda in Locarno

I've already gone there for lunch 3 times, and I'll be back again... I love it, as well as the good food.... Nice energy :))

Fantastic, I didn't think so, also because I thought it was the usual Indian cuisine, but instead I was very satisfied.

We really enjoyed the food, ambience and service. Especially for European standards, we were looking for a restaurant with a wide range of offerings and a very satisfactory price/performance ratio. Here we also had healthy and, finally, vegan cuisine. The latter is very close in the area. I very much hope that the community and customers of Locarno appreciate the offer and that this very nice restaurant will continue to be well attended. In any case, we received a very friendly welcome, were served promptly and were offered additional options. But I found one point strange, not a flaw. I assumed it was a vegetarian restaurant with Indian influences; I was afraid that the dishes would be quite seasoned and that my companion might be prepared for spicy food. I myself love spicy, not too intense, but it can be a little bit. The food tasted very good, balanced and varied in taste. Everything was pleasant, but the expected spiciness didn't quite come through. On my next visit I would only like a tiny bit more spiciness, then the food would still be 5 stars. But the restaurant still gets a 5 from me in the overall rating. Thank you very much and see you next time

We were looking for a less meat, pasta/pizza option to eat out and came across this restaurant. We really enjoyed the delicious menu of the day. We weren’t sure whether to take one menu each or share, but based on recommendations we shared - this was very generous and plenty for our needs.The food was delicious and we can only recommend to those looking for an alternative to the usual. The service was very friendly and prompt and the location is very good - close to the Piazza Grande.

The spiced lemon and ginger tea is delicious. Friendly staff. The interior furnishings were a little dated and apart from a few corners furnished in Indian style the rest seemed cheap to me. Sin.

Unfortunately I cannot give a good review for this restaurant. The food was bad. Was only lukewarm and not tasty (overcooked rice, cocktail sauce on falafel and salad, fried carrots..?) We will not visit this restaurant again.

One of the worst Indian restaurants I've eaten at. The Dal was watery and not very tasty, maybe only the hummus was good enough. Pakora (fried chickpea flour) was burnt, and the oil tasted stale, probably should be changed more often (or the oil dipping wasn't done properly). Even the rice was overcooked and chewy. Not recommended, a shame because the area is really beautiful, I recommend you have lunch/dinner elsewhere.

For lovers of Indian and vegetarian cuisine, with vegan options. It can be consumed on site or to take away. I go back whenever I can.

Food prepared with love. You can put together your own menu from a selection of around 5-6 dishes (e.g. rice, lentils, pakora, tofu, vegetables, salad, etc.). Everything costs CHF 6.50 each. The drinks are also very tasty. My favorite at the moment: Tamarind + Lemon. The alternating “bread” variants are also interesting, such as chapati and bhatura (deep-fried Indian flatbread) at CHF 2.00 each.

Truly excellent and very tasty food even if simple: it is a particular restaurant where you take your food at the counter after choosing it and sit at large tables of several people, next to strangers, in a familiar and informal way. Average prices.

A real joke (and I know vegetarian and vegan food very well). The salad bathed in sauce, the curry...tasted like "tuper", the gazpacho was a melon soup...not to mention the service. Anyway, I don't understand how there can be people who give it 5 stars because there is nowhere to take it. Charging 40 francs for 6 bowls of bad food is a joke. Above they put an "oggi" menu... yes, yesterday, today and tomorrow. A fraud. By the way, they don't serve any alcohol (you can see that they have already drunk it all).

Great little gem in the old streets of Locarno! Every item we tried from the (small) buffet was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the backyard was cozy

Pretty good food. Spices are missing, very delicate flavors. The food could be spicier, especially if asked for. Service should be more attentive. Otherwise everything is ok.

We had the degustation menue. The food was decent. Not bad but also not overwhelming. Healthy food but for our taste not enough spices. Could use a little more spiciness. You can choose between vegan and vegetarian options which is very pleasing. The inside area is very small and not very comfortable. Thats why it gets very loud when the place is sold out. The food was served fast and service was adequate.

Very good place for authentic veg Indian food. Thali prepared here is actually "Prasad" offered to lord Krishna!

Very nice and accommodating conditions. Food was very tasty, but not particularly spicy. The menu is small but offers everything you need. There is always a daily menu from which you can freely choose what you want or not.

Menu unique à l'emporter donc pas de choix, doggybag prêt à l'avance donc repas froid ! Pas de saveur dans les aliments... Dessert trop dosé en cannelle ou cardamone...sucré..35euros pour un plat froid et sans goût.. Déçu, qualité-prix celà ne vaut pas 35euros...Je ne recommande pas cet établissement.

Ich finde es eine beleidigung für die phantastische indische küche.

They do not serve real Indian food but rather something inspired with Indian food......moreover strange combinations like pumpkin pakoda with rice and chutney without any curry. I don't plan to to there again!

haben uns gefreut, ein indisches vegetarisches Restaurant und haben leider noch Plätze bekommen.Wir Eltern wählten das Menü für 40.-, die Kinder wählten Dhal für je 6.50 und Reis für (auch ca. 6.50) plus Chiapatis (für je 2.-).Andere Gäste hatten eine sympatische Kellnerin, welche die Gäste informierte, dass sie dann noch mehr bekommen könnten, wir wurden vom Chef "bedient", uns wurde das nicht gesagt und wir wurden auch erst wieder beachtet, als wir alles zusammen stellten. Das Dhal war extrem wässerig, das restliche Menü fade und lauwarm.Wir haben noch nie schlechter indisch gegessen. Der Chef vergass die Hälfte vom Dessert.Wir gingen dann sehr schnell und hoffen, dass die sympatische Kellnerin bald einen anderen Job findet.Ein indisches Restaurant wäre eine echte Marktlücke in Locarno.

Absoluter Tipp in Locarno, egal ob Vegetarier oder nicht. Super leckeres Essen, sehr freundliche Bedienung.

war mal an einem sylvester dort essen..ein mehrgängiges menu..hab's genossen..dieses mal ein menu für fr. 40.-..hab's nicht genossen..erwarte einen besseren salat..war er aus einem beutel ?..habe mehr phantasie erwartet.. auch der rest war so la la..dessert auch nicht fein..so bitte nicht..bedienung nett..der koch stand mit unglücklichem stolzem blick da..macht nicht so lust zum essen...

Aquí con mi mamá. Tomó un samosa vegetariano y curry de verduras. Una ensalada hubiera sido suficiente en lugar del curry vegetariano. Sabía muy bien y el ambiente era relajado. Los precios son altos pero de vez en cuando vale la pena.

Liebevoll und ausschliesslich frisch zubereitet: Jeden Tag ein wechselndes Menü mit frei wählbaren Gängen. Wunderbar!

Not for me. Nice atmosphere amd service, but the dishes lacked any memorable taste. The dishes change daily, when we went the vegetable curry had no curry whatsoever and was just a collection of veggies. Wouldn't recommend the place based on this experience.

Siamo stati al Govinda nel periodo del Festival del Film, dunque avevano un menu speciale. Era tutto buono. Qualcosa di particolare in Ticino - indiano & vegetariano! Prezzi giusti. Ci tornerò sicuramente.

Excellent Indian food on a cute, quiet, clean, tiny street that's conveniently walkable from the Grand Piazza and yet far enough away to avoid the crowds of it. The evening meal service had a few well-chosen dishes of the day and we ordered "one of everything," which I think is very common and is what I would recommend so you can try everything. We were there on the night of a big event in the Grand Piazza and it was so refreshing to have a peaceful dinner away from the noise of the square.

Nuestra familia de cuatro pescadores tropezó con Govinda y disfrutamos de una deliciosa cena vegetariana en su área de descanso al aire libre. Ubicado en una encantadora calle lateral, el ambiente era maravilloso. Pedimos la cena para 40 CHF y un mango lassi (5 CHF) para compartir. Esta fue la cantidad justa de comida para nosotros porque todos queríamos ahorrar espacio para un helado más tarde esa noche. El servicio fue excelente. Tuvimos varias preguntas sobre el menú y nuestro servidor las respondió amablemente.

Wir waren auf der Suche nach einem vegetarischen Restaurant. Unsere Erwartungen wurden sehr gut erfüllt, das Menü wurde gut erklärt und das Personal sehr freundlich und auch deutsch sprechend. Das Essen war köstlich, von allem ist etwas dabei. Wir kommen wieder!

Ristorante Indiano con un menu ridotto ma buono. Ogni giorno cambia qualche piatto. Per Locarno e' l'unico locale vegano. Li consiglierei di migliorare la presentazione dei piatti e stoviglie. Ottimo rapporto qualita'/prezzo.

Ci Sono stato a cena con le mie due figlie di 12 e 14 anni, per me non era la prima volta, ma loro erano così entusiaste che mi hanno chiesto di tornarci presto. Il personale è come sempre gentile e accogliente. Le pietanze buone, curiose e originali. Le bevande allo Zenzero e limone straordinarie. Per i loro dolci, prevedere un bis! Das vegetarische Essen ist für die Schweiz günstig und recht nahrhaft. Der Kochstil unterscheidet sich ein wenig von der traditionellen indischen Küche, ist aber einen Besuch wert, um sich mindestens einmal zu versuchen.

Un luogo incantevole dove il buon cibo si coniuga bene con la simpatia e un ambiente sereno.Nel centro della suggestiva cittadina sul lago maggiore si trova un’oasi di pace.Cucina con infiniti profumi e sapori della cucina vegetariana dell’India.Un luogo per incontrare persone interessanti ed intelligenti.

Govinda war für uns in Locarno ein Überraschungsfund. Sie bieten ein festes vegetarisches Menü mit veganen Optionen, aus dem Sie auswählen und bestellen können. Man kann auch ein indisches Thali bestellen, wobei die Menüpunkte in festen Mengen angeboten werden. Das Essen ist einfach und lecker. Nicht zu scharf. Das Gefühl ist wie eine hausgemachte Mahlzeit. Wenn Sie nach einem typisch indischen Restaurant suchen, das nordindische Gerichte serviert und ein umfangreiches Menü bietet, sollten Sie es vermeiden. Sie werden sich tatsächlich enttäuscht fühlen.Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Dal wird besondere Erwähnung finden. Das einzige, was fehlte, war die Wahl von Roti oder einem anderen indischen Brot. Die einzige Option war Reis. Die gemischte Gemüseoption ist schön. Es gibt ein einzigartiges süßes Chutney aus reifer Banane, das mit Kartoffel gefülltem Kachori serviert wird. Dies war eine Premiere für mich. Es hat mir an Gewürzen gefehlt. Die leckere Chili-Gurke, die sie anbieten, ist reines Feuer. Das Restaurant bietet auch viele verschiedene indische, ayurvedische und veganistische Produkte an.

Sehr freundliches Personal, die Preise sind eher günstig und natürlich toll, dass man hier vegetarisch essen kann. Die Speisen sind in der Tat nicht besonders scharf, wie ich es von der indischen Küche gewohnt bin, aber es schmeckte sehr lecker.

Ero così felice di finalmente scoprire il Govinda e assaggiare i piatti indiani. Il cibo è buono anche se non abbastanza piccante per i miei gusti, ma buono. Avevo quasi finito di mangiare lo yogurt al cocco (delizioso tra l'altro), quando ho sentito aver qualcosa in bocca, prima ho pensato che fosse una spezie, ma mi è sembrata troppo dura. Per fortuna non l'ho mandato giù: era una molletta di metallo con due punte, lunga 8 mm. Sono rimasta molto male pensando a quello che avrebbe potuto succedere se l'avessi mandato giù. Sono consapevole che queste cose possono succedere, ma sono rimasta male dalla reazione delle due donne: si sono scusate, sì, però mi hanno spiegato che la molletta non poteva provenire dai cuochi perchè non ne portano nei capelli...

Wir wollten Indisch Essen gehen. oha. Ist ein vegetarisches Restaurant. Janu, denn halt. Die Karte war dann aber sehr klein und es gab praktisch keine Auswahl. Wir haben dann nur 2 Hauptspeisen genommen (sehr klein) und ein Brot und haben entschieden, den Rest beim Eisfeld zu essen.Essen war langweilig und hatte mit dem bisherigen indischen Essen wenig gemeinsam. Wir kommen nicht mehr.

Probably the only indian place in the area. It's really hard to find non-italian cuisine in Locarno. The food is ok, but not spicy / hot enough for my taste.

Adoro questo ristorante, in cui i cuochi pregano per te quando preparano i cibi che tu mangerai. Un sapore celeste ed un ambiente colorito e suggestivo, alla portata di tutte le tasche

Sono andata un sabato sera con due mie amiche, siamo studentesse. Devo ammettere che i prezzi sono molto elevati e le porzioni davvero piccole! Il cibo era anche freddo. Peccato, il gusto del cibo era molto buono ma siamo uscite tutte avendo speso 20 franchi ma senza aver minimamente riempito lo stomaco. Lo consiglio solo a persone che hanno un grande budget.

L'unico posto vegetariano di Locarno. Si mangiano piatti indiani buoni e abbondanti. Ci ritorno sempre.

I had a great Indian inspired menu here, they were adapting the official menu with vegan options for me. Not spicy, but quite tasty. Friendly house cat in the garden.

Ma lasciare la sporcizia sotto portico di fronte un ottimo risorante Boccalino dove hai mangiato prima sicuramente non e una bella cosa. E sicuramente non era un "passare per caso". Un cordiale saluto dal ristorante che famoso anche per la sua cordialita e gentilezza.

Mi é capitato per caso di passarci davanti e i commenti della commessa sono stati tutt altro che cordiali.. Se vi capita andate nel ristorante Boccalino di fronte che sono super cordiali e il cibo é buonissimo
