We always eat very well. Excellent menu and also great choice of wines. Friendly staff and the location is also very nice. In good weather you can also eat outside.

The service was excellent, the waiters treated us very kindly, the environment is good, the tables outside are under a huge umbrella and it was very comfortable in the evening. But the food disappointed, the quality is quite good but the quantity does not reflect the asking price at all.

Ate a very tender and well seasoned piece of meat. It doesn't feel like being in Lugano. Friendly and very courteous waiters. Chic place

Ended up here by chance... We were warmly welcomed and served. The Vitello Tonnato was excellent but the highlight was the risotto with porcini mushrooms! We have rarely eaten such a delicious risotto!

Cozy place, quick and effective service

Grotto with extremely refined cuisine. We soon have a slice of grilled tuna but the menu is very rich for all tastes.

I ordered fish fillet with risotto. Unfortunately both were bland and the fish was very simply prepared. The risotto tasted of nothing. Every experienced housewife cooks this dish better at home. Since the dish didn't taste like anything, the price of CHF 34 was clearly too high. It's a mystery to me how, with such a poor performance, the reviews are so good?! I don't recommend the restaurant. PS: To the owner's answer. Whether we would have said something there or not doesn't change the fact that the food served wasn't tasty!

All in all just great! Food very fine, service courteous and friendly, pleasant atmosphere. Tip for the service: refer guests who do not understand Italian to the website. The dishes are available in English and German ;) Thank you for the lovely evening. The porcini mushroom risotto was very, very fine. Easily accessible on foot :)

We have always been very satisfied with the attentive and friendly service and the cuisine full of genuine flavours. The prices are correct for a refined and authentic restaurant. Lately we had dinner as a group (11 people, including an 8-month-old girl and two children under 10 years old) and we were treated with every respect (and the rib-eye was really succulent!).

Ero stata qui molti anni fa ora è tutto rinnovato, bello l'ambiente e l'atmosfera, personale cordiale. Cibo gustoso e bene presentato.

Das Grotto liegt leicht ausserhalb der Stadt Lugano, verfügt aber über mehrere Parkplätze. Das Essen war hervorragend, auch die Auswahl des Weins, ein ausgezeichneter Tessiner Merlot, top. Tartar ist zu empfehlen sowie auch das Risotto, so richtig "al dente". Wir wurden sehr freundlich bedient und wir haben zu einem sehr vernünftigen Preis sehr gut gegessen. Werde ich weiter empfehlen.

Su invito di un amico sono tornato dopo parecchio tempo in questo locale alle porte di Lugano.Cena tutta a base di foie gras: terrina di foie gras come antipasto (accompagnata da un bicchiere di Sauternes) e foie gras spadellato come secondo piatto. FANTASTICOOttimo anche e il servizio è bella la carta dei vini

Cena in famiglia con tre bambini sotto i sette anni. Gentilezza, velocità nel servizio, carni di ottima qualità e vasta carta dei vini.Prezzo piuttosto alto, comunque adeguato agli standard locali.Torneremo.

I nostri ospiti volevamo provare un grotto ticinese e siamo andati a cena al grotto Grillo. Non abbiamo trovato i tipici piatti da grotto, ma la carta presenta i classici piatti mediterranei. E tutto buono ma nella media, manca un po' di originalità di voler coniugare la tradizione con i piatti classici. Mangiare i gnocchi con burro e salvia al ristorante é un po' triste, ma l'alternativa è al pomodoro, che per un ristorante é altrettanto triste. Le paste ripiene sono buone, come anche i piatti di carne. Sarebbe bello poter scegliere piatti con ingredienti locali e magari anche biologici, visto che i prezzi non sono da grotto ma piuttosto elevati. Il servizio é buono ma un po' freddo, nel prezzo non sono inclusi i sorrisi.

Even though the grotto is not in a prime location, the ambience in the garden is cozy and quiet. The service is attentive, friendly and professional. The menu is typically Italian. The dishes are beautifully presented and are first class. The recommended wine is of good quality and went well with the dishes.

Great dinner with my family of four. Two boys 10, 13 loved the menu and dessert. Excellent flavor and creativity in the food. Very nice, attentive staff. Would certainly come again.

Nous avons passé une bonne soirée dans cet établissement, nous avons mangé des tomates mozzarella , jambon et melon en entrée et tagliata en plat principal. Très bien servi et très bon. Service impeccable. Bon choix de vins à tous les prix. Desserts excellents.

amazing restaurant where I must come back. I had an incredible fish soup and some vongole spaghetti and I loved both. We had some amazing wine. My friends took the meat and said it was delicious. They just re opened from covid and everything was well organized, with plastic thing on the face for the waiters, sanitizers etc. We had our own little rooms which was really sweet! Many thanks for the good food and atmosphere

First experience in this fabulous and welcoming cave. I have never tried such a good fillet (blood cooking) that remained soft from start to finish. Prices normal for Lugano. Welcoming and kind staff. I'll definitely be back.

It's always nice and we had a wonderful evening here. I can say that nothing has bothered us yet! The restaurant was a taste explosion in my mouth every time. The location is easy to reach! The good transport connections make a meal trip a breeze. In the restaurant you get both: friendly and fast service.

Das Grotto ist nicht zentral in der Stadt gelegen aber trotzdem gut zu erreichen auch zu Fuss. Verfügt aber auch über parkplätze. Das essen ist herrvoragend und die haben eine riiiesen Auswahl an top Weinen!! Der Risotto ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!Preisklasse mittel.

Das Grotto Grillo ist uns empfohlen worden. Es ist zwar etwas versteckt, aber mit dem ÖV sehr gut erreichbar. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Grotto verfügt über ein sehr schönes, gemütliches Gartenrestaurant. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Das Restaurant befindet sich ca. 30 Gehminuten vom Stadtzentrum entfernt.Sehr schöne Lage mit einer schönen Terrasse. Der Service war eher unfreundlich, aber sehr effizient. Das Essen war in Ordnung, aber nicht mehr.Sehr gute Auswahl an Weinen. Für ein paar einfache Antipasti und einen guten Rotwein würde ich das Restaurant empfehlen

Very good and welcoming, few parking spaces, but in the surrounding area they are in the blue zone. Good service and venue, it also lends itself to informal business lunches and dinners.

Food and service were excellent. Chef came and said hello to our ta ble. Restaurant has a cosy and intimate atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

"In one sentence? Simply delicious" Quiet atmosphere, friendly and very attentive staff. Typical bistro/restaurant furnishings with order and cleanliness. Among the various specialties I tasted, carefully prepared by the owner, a chef of exquisite professionalism, the foie Graz, definitely one of the best you can find, octopus with potatoes, completely clean and without suckers, the prawn and asparagus cutter. To finish among the delicious desserts, "chocolate cake" a delight for the palate. I highly recommend it

Ci siamo arrivati per caso, e ne è valsa la pena. Cena, brasato e chili, molto buoni. Porzioni adeguate, prezzi nella media “svizzera”. Servizio rapido, personale cordiale e molto disponibile. Locale molto carino e accogliente. Ci torneremo.

In buona compagnia in questo locale con delle ottime proposte culinarie, disposto su due piani, offre il vantaggio di avere delle salette riservate dove si può stare tra amici e famigliari a festeggiare qualsiasi ricorrenza, Molto buona la cucina ed il servizio (subito sostituita una bottiglia di vino non idonea), prezzi nella media Ticinese, parcheggio non molto grande ma sufficiente, da apprezzare il filetto di Tonno.

Atmosfera tranquilla e personale cordiale e molto attento, arredi tipici da bistrot/ristorante con ordine e pulizia. Tra le varie specialità di piatti che ho gustato,preparati con cura, dal patron, cuoco di squisita professionalità, il Foie Gras, decisamente uno dei migliori che si possano trovare, il polipo con le patate, completamente pulito e senza ventose, il taglierino di gamberi e asparagi. E per finire tra i deliziosi dessert, "bonet alla piemontese ".. una delizia per il palato. La cantina è di alto livelloLo consiglio vivamente
