Gül Express in Zürich

First time that i was not well treated in a züri bar/restaurant, what an unpleasant guy

Upon entering Gül, we noticed the restaurant was empty, yet the staff did not greet us and seemed preoccupied with their phone. As we stood to order, he said hello. We decided to try their most popular dish, the lamb macun. It was served rolled up, resembling a pizza base with a very thin layer of meat, which was somewhat disappointing in terms of flavor. My wife opted for a dish featuring a bloomer onion, which was satisfactory. While the interior decoration of Joviality was pleasing, it didn't quite capture a Turkish ambiance. The tea served was notably small.

Cool spontaneous experience, super friendly staff, fine food, fine Ayran, great ambience, very good value for money. That was the first but not the last visit ;-) Thank you for the great experience, dear GÜL team

It may be normal for Zurich, but the outrageous prices compete with Istanbul airport.

The Wasserbõrek would be delicious if they weren't always ice cold in the middle. They are warmed for far too short a time. It's really scary

Very tasty Turkish food. The service is very friendly and explained all the dishes to us. Our food was super delicious. The price is fair and the seating is comfortable. We would definitely like to come back!

Unfortunately, my visit to this restaurant, which claims to be traditional Turkish, was disappointing. Although rated as a top restaurant by "Foodie Reviews", I couldn't help but notice that it doesn't represent Turkish cuisine as I expected. The menu may offer some familiar Turkish dishes, but the preparation and taste did not match the authentic flavors and quality one would expect from a traditional Turkish restaurant. The dishes seemed more adapted to Western palates and lacked the depth and sophistication that characterizes Turkish cuisine.

Omg omg omg what did I just taste right now. Their Vegan Lahmacun ( with ayran drink) is heavenly. The dough is just the right thickness, the sourness, the charcoal/ovenly smell reminds me of my childhood. Very authentic! Totally recommend and its right next to the HB tucked away in a quiet corner perfect for lunch times!

I went in to buy wine when I saw the employee putting clearly cold bottles of wine on the shelves outside of the fridge (significantly compromising the quality of the wine) to be sold. I can’t comment on the food because I didn’t get any, but they sell wine without knowing what they’re doing and this is enough to put me off.

Order via online portal. Lahmacun was not our taste. Unfortunately, it almost fell apart while eating because it had been on the road for so long. The Pide is very expensive for its size at 20CHF. Organic eggs or not, this price is not justified.

Food was ok, but they overcharged us and didn’t communicate. We didn’t want bottles of water but they charged us for 3, at 5 CHF each. 15 CHF down the drain

I eat Lahmacun at Gül Express from the first day of them and was everythime very good but the last visit was a catastrophe.The girl who take our order was not friendly with us but the most important thing , the Lahmacun was totally other taste . This can be fine for people who don’t understand how must taste a Lahmacun . I notice they have other persons in the kitchen and I hope this is only a problem of time until come back again good the Lahmacun ✅

I had the Lahmacun and it was dry and bland in taste. My Turkish friend said that Lahmacun usually tastes completely different. Disappointing.

Lahmacun was spicy. Instead of meat we had Salça (Turkish tomato paste). There was also quite a bit of pomegranate in the proportion. It was crispy, which is probably the only positive point. Ayran was good. I probably won't go back, so the price/performance ratio doesn't match. Service was friendly.

I'll make it short, Waited 25 minutes in a half-empty restaurant for a mega greasy, far too spicy lamacun that in the end only tasted like mutton (no, not lamb). Just wasted money. Really can't understand the hype and good reviews

Even though we knew that Elif always tastes good, we were happy with our choice. Wonderful Black Sea Pide with cauliflower, lahmacun with a fruity spiciness and, for dessert, the finest pistachio baklava croissants... we'll be back.

Food and cay of the very best quality. Unfortunately, anything but express, extremely inefficient employees. Just bring enough time and enjoy great food!

The best Turkish wrap in Zurich!

Very tasty and friendly service

It was my first time there and I really liked it. The food was really good, everything was perfect.

Order delivered incorrectly. When we reported it by phone, the man on the phone simply hung up. The worst service we have ever experienced in Zurich. 20% of the order is missing and the restaurant just hangs up and doesn't answer the phone anymore. We reported a severe allergy to nuts and there were nuts in the dishes. Luckily we saw it before we ate.

Yes… gül used to be a name and it was really good! After the last two visits to the restaurant I thought, give the express another chance! Unfortunately, here too, disappointed with the food, quality and shocked by the prices!!! A pity. But service was very nice. Nevertheless, good-bye...

Great concept, great cuisine. However, as a native of Turkey, I have to say that Turkish cuisine should not be served "lukewarm". It has to "cook" and "steam", especially the lahmacun are worthless if they are eaten lukewarm. And you have to be able to accept criticism, when I mentioned it, the gentleman wasn't so enthusiastic...

Lots of soft dough with few toppings. Plus a lot of packaging and a proud price of 16.50 CHF. I'd rather get a kebab or something similar.

The Gül Express is so incredibly delicious that I had to go there twice to make sure I wasn't dreaming. A great addition to the large Gül.

The creative dishes are prepared with very fresh ingredients and in harmonious harmony. Already visited several times and am always surprised at how intense and good the food tastes. The Lahmacun is a safe choice, slightly spicy with fresh parsley and of course raki for dinner. Unfortunately a little expensive but definitely worth the money.

What was that? Just went inside for the first time. No help whatsoever with explaining what the menu items mean. Nothing on offer. What is this place? Where is the food?

Very tasty lahmacun and home made ayran

A restaurant that serves pies, pastries and pizza. The restaurant is Turkish, but. Not offered. Turkish dishes. like. Grills and other restaurants. Just. It serves pastries and the in-house doctor is excellent. I liked Sunbul. ordinary. restaurant. For quick quotes. It is considered. Close to the train station. It serves people and travelers. I have not tried the food. To judge, but the smell of the food is very excellent. I think it is good. But I drank the tea. Red Turkish. The seating inside the restaurant and the atmosphere in general is good

The lahmacun is super delicious and ayran is homemade. The staff is also very nice and attentive! Baklava is usually too sweet for me but here it was really perfect! We would like to come again!!

In a very central location. I ordered pita and tea. Pita is 20 CHF, double tea is 6 CHF. It deserves its price considering its central location, cleanliness and the quality of the food. Well done.

Still starving after eating a lamacun. At 16.50 it's not filled with any kebab meat or any sauce (they don't have any). Basically just bread with spices, salad and a tiny bit of meat. Disappointing.

I took advice and ordered a lahmacun. It was a bit expensive compared to other Turkish shops, but you can notice the difference in quality. The small terrace between the train track and the street is ok. The service is friendly. The portion size was completely ok. If you want to try a good lahmacun, you can go to Gül.

Delicious food in a nice informal atmosphere.

Must try! Exceptionally good türkish pizza, completely different taste and quality to the usual ones. Caspar & crew give you the mediterranean feel and welcomeness. You may get a sürprise when asking for "tschai ikram" after dinner ;)

The food is well prepared and quite tasty (all the dieshes I tried were good) Unfortunately, given that it's a takeaway with quite small portions, this place is way to expensive and I don't come here too often.

Russian music in the Turkish restaurant is not necessary. Food was top!

I tried the Lahmacun Dürm Kombo. It tasted good, filled with good meat and lots of herbs and its better than what other shops would serve you. Especially the bread is freshly baked and very delicious. However the price is quite high, the portion not so big and the Ayran tasted a bit flat. The location is next to the train platform and great if you are in a hurry to catch a train.

This place!! High-quality Turkish fast food at fair prices in a stylish ambience (super-nice marble tables outside). Authentic, cool sound. Interesting (non-alcoholic) drink selection. Just great. From now on I will always come here when I want something quick to eat.

If I, as a working person, order takeaway for lunch, it has to do with the fact that my time is very limited. It was a 5 minute wait for the Lahmacun, I waited over 30!!! minutes. It should actually be expected that waiting guests will be informed if it takes longer. However, after asking questions, they just said yes, it will come soon. At least you could have given me the Börek (cold from the display case) that I ordered earlier. Had to reschedule an appointment and push the thing down as I went. The taste is good, but the food is not worth waiting so long for and paying such a price!

This restaurant was a secret tip from a friend and it didn't disappoint. When you come in, everything looks very cozy, but also very small tables. Unfortunately, in a group of four, the indoor tables were a bit too small for us. There are only a few seating options outside. I think the location here is negative. The restaurant is very close to the train station and is associated with a lot of noise. Particularly positive: THE FOOD Probably the most important and best thing here is the food. I was completely blown away by how good it tasted here. I listened to the seller's recommendation and ordered the Black Sead Lahmacun with grilled vegetables. I am amazed at how good a lahmacun can taste and can only recommend the restaurant. In my opinion the portions could be a bit larger at this price range. The taste is simply great.

If you're looking for something light and healthy for lunch too. The little Turkish sandwiches are really tasty and the salad is something completely new. I really enjoyed it and the atmosphere was relaxed

Good self-service food, but very expensive for both food and drinks (Cola 3 dl in self-service 5 fr). Not very friendly place, terrace ok.

For some time installed on the street alongside the new platform 18 in Zurich. Nice interior with typical music but also very modern. A terrace on the edge of the quay and exposed to the sun. Small menu, enough to discover Turkish specialties. Very good Pide with Sucuk and organic egg. Good value for money for Zurich.

Lahmacun was good, lots of parsley and no meat. Crispy and fresh. Baklava was nice and light, I would have liked it to be more “rich”. But good! What doesn't work at all, however, is the over-the-top music. There is always a normal pop song and then Turkish music. Completely over-the-top bass, relaxed eating is not possible like that.

The price depends on the quality… or have you ever eaten pide made from organic meat somewhere? A Margaritte pizza made with just tomatoes and cheap cheese doesn't cost much less.

After the Turkish specialty restaurant of the same name here is the express version which is placed directly on SBB station platform. I find a small menu but sufficient. I took the Pide and found it to be very good. For the price, its still a little high but nothing surprising in relation with the geographical situation. I strongly recommend, and want to taste more specialties you will have to go to its big sister the Gul.

The Turkish coffee I ordered to take away was good. Of course the production takes some time, that's normal. But unfortunately there was no lid to the full little cup. It was very difficult to get him to move.

Hey wasn't so bad the music is ethnic which I like because of the character that gives to the place and I also like to tell you the truth a little glasses that they're using for their tea text me back to Konstaninouple when I visited. You can also sit outside in the sun for a little bit. It's funny that you sit next to the train tracks.

First of all: I love Turkish food and have enjoyed it in many countries. I only ate a lahmacun and took a close look at the menu. Lahmacun: basically solid quality: reasonable minced meat, seasoned and prepared to a high standard. But that's where it ends. When it comes to the filling, I wouldn't be asked what I wanted, but rather it would be prepared in a flat rate. That has never happened to me. Furthermore, the lahmacun is not freshly prepared (at 16.5 for lahmacun without meat with a few herbs in it, I would have expected it) and it doesn't taste like it was recently. It tastes a little bit “crunchy” and not very fresh (a little doughy). The price for this product is by far the cheekiest thing I've paid in Zurich and I'm used to a lot! Of course I wasn't full. I would have to eat 2-3 of them for that. The other pricing is not expensive for me, but sometimes outrageous. A water from a plastic bottle for 5 chf? Black tea 3 chf? (Only in Switzerland can you charge something for this, otherwise it's always free. But 3 chf per glass?). Overall, the atmosphere (due to the cool decor but also the overpriced pricing of some products) is anything but Turkish. Even if the quality is relatively reasonable, especially for Zurich - there are almost only bad Turkish shops here - I will not visit this shop again.

Cool atmosphere and very nice people. We ordered two Lahmacun, an Islak Burger and two Ayran and it was incredibly tasty!

Simple, fresh, unique, friendly, quick and uncomplicated! I regularly come to Gül Express for the delicious sandwiches in the morning, or what is probably the best Lahmacun in Switzerland at lunchtime. The Turkish café and the baklava afterwards not only invite you to linger, but are sensationally prepared. Only recommended!

Something different and not always “just kebab”. Certainly not the cheapest choice in terms of price - it is probably in the range of Zurich. The food and service absolutely make up for it and are worth a visit or two.

Clean and friendly staff. However, pricing needs to be reconsidered. Probably by far the most expensive Lamacun in Europe and coffee prices like anywhere else in Zurich in a 5-star hotel. And the product is at the level of any kebab shop.

Wow. Extremes. A simit with pastirma for 9.50 chf. The intensity and quality is worth it. It's small but tastes big. That's why 5 x stars even though the name alone deserves 18,000 stars.

We came across the place by chance at noon today. In addition to the happiness of the meal we ate in a carefully thought-out and well-thought-out place that brought us together with the modern effect on the outside and more on the inside, the magnificence of the music played and the friendliness and hospitality of your Master Ramazan really made us very happy. The taste of the food is unquestionable. Thank you to the gentle soul of the owner, I hope we cross paths again ❤️

We always enjoy coming to Gül Express, be it the delicious Earl Gray Baklava ice cream, the refreshing Cay or simply the great hospitality from Rambo "where eifach en geile Siech isch is". The last time we were able to taste a Konya Pide “Trial” where the pide was covered - super tasty and should definitely end up on the menu (also the version with cheese ;)).

And another culinary disappointment in Zurich. The meat in the Islak Burger was inedible and really of poor quality. The Lahmacun has nothing to do with the original. Just no button. And yes, the tip of the iceberg is the roast tea for 5 francs. A pity
