Last night, ten of us enjoyed an unforgettable evening at Hatecke. Both the food and the service were once again first class. A big thank you to the entire Hatecke team. We will definitely come back.

The hand-cut tartare is exceptionally delicious, all the dried meat products are of very high quality and taste like a trip to the Engadine. We then enjoyed capuns (out of this world) followed by a lovely barley soup. An irresistible potato gratin was served with exquisite pieces of butter-tender meat - crispy on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside. If you don't go there, it's your own fault.

Great quality and taste of the food! The best tartare I've ever eaten. But disappointed with the treatment of the staff. I knew the restaurant normally closes at 10pm. As we eat our last bite before we've even finished our wine, they bring us the bill and turn off the music. When I asked the waitress what time they close she told me 9pm. I mentioned to her that Google says they close at 10 p.m. She replied that they simply close at 9pm that day. Without informing us, without finishing our drink, without asking for the bill, they threw us out in their own way because they obviously didn't have the customers they expected that evening. Very disrespectful behavior.

Come here if you're ready to eat almost exclusively meat. There are a few salads but that's clearly not the focus. The meat is excellent (fortunately). The accompaniment (gratin or Spätzle) was also excellent. And the wine was excellent too. The service was really good too. The owner is from Engadin, which explains why the menu is a bit hard to read: everything is in Romansh! With some understanding of German and latin languages, you can decipher most of it, otherwise the waiter will help :).

📝 Butcher's restaurant with excellent quality meat and attentive service. Prices are quite high, I would dare say a little more than the average for Zurich. 🍴 I only ordered a beef tartare which I found excellent: very tasty and of an acceptable size. 📍 Perfectly located in the Löwenplatz area, right in the center of Zurich. The interiors seemed to me to be quite minimalistic and pleasant in style. The idea of setting the tables next to the meat counter is nice.

I don't go there often but when I do it's always top notch. Tartar is made with the best meat from Graubünden. Either very thinly sliced or less. The butcher shop and the restaurant are extremely minimalist in architecture and have a rather cool atmosphere but when the service turns up the heat, it feels welcome. Go and try it out! Next time I'll take photos too.

We had a glass of white wine and a HATECKE plate. Anyone who knows HATECKE knows how high the quality is and that's exactly how it was with us. The meat was excellent and incomparable to anything. With delicious bread and butter, it's like being on cloud 9. We'd love to come back.

This is a butcher shop, but it is the best restaurant in Switzerland in my opinion! The service is very friendly and the meat is delicious. If you are Taiwanese and want to find a restaurant in Zurich, I highly recommend this place! Not too salty, but still seasoned in the European way. The restaurant is also a butcher shop. The quality of the food is excellent. I have never had a better carpaccio or vitello tonnato anywhere. The tartare is also incredibly good and freshly cut at the counter. Unfortunately, the service is not very organized (you can't order and pay for a long time, starters are forgotten, it's not taken into account who came when). It's rare for me to rank any restaurant a 5 star but Hatecke is well deserved! How good is it? Well, let's say, if you are a meat lover and you only have one meal in Zurich, then Hatecke should be your 1st choice. Forget about those restaurant in the "Cloud" or fancy Michelin star, come to Hatecke for honest, great quality food and wine that are flavoured to perfection. Even the bread and butter was amazing. At the end of the dinner, my friend and I don't want the meal to end! And both of us have a taste of the good food around the globe and I can honestly say that Hatecke is getting into my collection list now, side by side with Sushi Dai in Tsukiji Fish market. The restaurant is clean and minimalist. Again, nothing too fancy but simply elegant. We ordered the beef tartar, 1st time ever for me because I just cannot fully trust the quality of the meat. But Hatecke did not disappoint AT ALL! Amazing flavour, amazing texture, and my friend said it's the best she ever had. The bread and butter serving on the side was also amazing. So good that we bought extra with us. The butter is light and non greasy, full of flavour. The break is crunchy and crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Love it! The main course, we couldn't decide, so Hatecke is kind enough to let us mix and match our main, Grilled beef and veal, side dishes are palenta, potato cake and the local specialty that I can't remember the name. If you have to choose one side dish only, I would go with the palenta. It blend well with our grill. Flavour is not too over powering and you can still appreciate the beautiful and delicate sweet, milky flavour of the veal. If you are ordering some other stronger flavour mains, such as the braised ossobuco dishes, then the potato cake should be good. I think they use the beef fat dripping to pan fried/roast the potato cake. Amazing and powerful taste and very very good as well. Compare to these two side dishes, the local specialty is somewhat muted, nonetheless, it's still tasty, just my personal choice to have a preference over the palenta and potato cake. Wine matching were recommended by the owner/manager. Delicious red, goes perfectly with the main. I will consider a different wine for the tartar as the red is too strong for that. To me, sparkling water with beef tartar is good enough. Use the water to cleanse your pallet just to enjoy another bite of the tartar. Happiness just keep crashing on me. Final word, If you read till now, surely you are interested and I would strongly recommend it. Don't hesitate, give it a try. The bill comes to around 60 CHF per person. It's not cheap but for sure it's a very reasonable price in Zurich, a city that you can easily spend 70 CHF on a take away. I must say, I do have one regret after my meal -- I so regretted that I didn't come earlier! Otherwise I would have great food, great wine and great services every week!! It was on my list to try for 10 months, and I waited for so long. No problems, I will make it up by coming twice every week. Haha. Oh and yes, there are take away options as well.

I knew the restaurant in St. Moritz, my expectations were even exceeded! The tartare is, in my opinion, the best in the world. The portion in Zurich seems to be larger. The best Steak Tartare in Zurich, which even comes in different variations (such as slightly grilled). Sofort fühlten wir uns wohl. Eine edle Gourmet Metzgerei.Ein ganz «cooles» Interieur (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes), eine moderne Metzgerei, elegant und charmant, mit einem gestylten Schau-Comptoir, mit schön gereiften erlesenen Fleischstücken. Ein Augenschmaus als Vorahnung für den kommenden Genuss!Als kleines Willkommens-Grüessli gab es ein Scheibchen getrocknetes Entrecôte. Ein Genuss. Als Vorspeise nahmen wir ein Plättli mit verschiedenen Arten Trockenfleisch aus dem Engadin und einen ausgezeichneten Lardo di Colonnata. Alles von erster Qualität. Das folgende Rinds-Tartar, fein hand-geschnitten, nach spezieller Manier. Einfach ein Gedicht. Leichte Note vom Olivenöl, ergänzt durch die Kräuter und vom Salz und Chili. Der Fleischgeschmack eindrucksvoll. Dazu das leicht geröstete Weissbrot mit Butter. Besser kann es nicht sein. Meine Meinung: für mich das erste, perfekte Tartar vom Rind. Und das in meinem Alter. Looks like a regular side of the road food stand, but the ingredients and the make are top-notch. Had a falafel wrap here where the falafel was still crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Most places I find make them really dry, so this a welcome change. Veggies were good, too and the sauces he makes are phenomenal. Good prices for Zurich, too, with a 0.5l drink costing 3 francs (as opposed to the regular 4 at kebab shops) and wraps/sandwiches being 9 (all at the time of posting this). Definitely will come back!
