There is nothing to say about the food... All to suit your taste.... Prepared with care.... The atmosphere is five stars.... Staff are friendly... Service quality is high... If you happen to be there, be sure to stop by.... I strongly recommend it....

First, im not a vegetarian so the its hard for me to appreciate the food. My dish was overly good, and I know other liked what they ordered. Having said that the service was very good and the restaurant and huge yet very cause and has a welcoming atmosphere. I think it would be a great choice for a vegetarian dinner. I saw on the way in that they also had a buffet, so the choice are not limited to what's on the menu

Food as good as or better than usual (price a little higher). Excellent service, majestically perfect cuisine. Unfortunately they had the unfortunate idea of ​​charging 1CHF per glass for water (which has always been the flagship of the hilt as it has been free for generations) (not even in the desert). We have been visiting Hiltl for many years and rave about the buffet. Unfortunately, we recently discovered that you can no longer fetch the tap water yourself in the covered area and are now subject to a charge. This is very unfortunate and I hope this will be reintroduced.

Simply outstanding and one of the best vegetarian restaurants we have been to so far. Hiltl mostly serves Swiss classics and comfort food and does so exceptionally well. The setting is, however, rather reminiscent of a fancier restaurant. Certainly a must-see if you come to Zürich.

Haus Hiltl, famous as being the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world, is conveniently located in the heart of Zürich and is a beautiful Multi-Floor restaurant, offering a generous vegetarian/vegan Buffet as well as à la carte options. We went to Haus Hiltl for a dinner date and chose the a la carte option. The service was quick and very friendly. In terms of the food, the vegan tartar was incredibly delicious and the Thai Red Curry was flavourful, creamy and nicely balanced. We definitely look forward to our next visit!

Always great food. It's just a shame that there are no uniform containers in use between Tibits and Hiltl. So we had to pour the food we wanted to take with us into Hiltl bowls.

In the upper area, 1 more employee could work in service to ensure the attention of the waiter/pay and order drinks. Most of the time you wait a very long time.

THE place to eat in Zurich if you crave a wide range of vegetarian and vegan food in a posh environment. Boasts itself to be one of world’s oldest vegetarian restaurants!

I'm not a vegetarian but my wife is. At first I was skeptical as to whether I would find something for myself there, but the range is so large that you are really spoiled for choice. We chose the option with free choice at the buffet so we could try out the different dishes. An absolute experience for the palate, there is something for every taste. Gladly again.

Already, for the buffet you are weighed to calculate the price so far no problem. But the WEIGHT of the plate is counted with it? I don't know if we taught you how to weigh, basically we remove the weight from the support and we weigh what's inside the plate because we don't eat the plate, so I paid 20CHF for this plate. In addition I ordered the burger having no dry taste, both the bread and the meat without sauce inside in addition to an exorbitant price. I have tasted so much better as a vegetarian restaurant. Horrible.

Great vegetarian/vegan restaurant where you can get your money's worth even as a non-vegan/vegetarian. The three of us were in the restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime, despite it being busy, we got our food quickly. Definitely recommended if you want to eat out in Zurich.

Amazing food and service at Haus Hiltl. Never disappoints! We had the tofu salad, Cordon Bleu and Riz Colonial. Really generous portion sizes and so many options on the menu! Would highly recommend! :) Also a great non- alcoholic drinks menu 🍸

Everything we ate of the buffet was delicious.

It is an iconic place because it is the world's first vegetarian restaurant. I definitely recommend filling your own plate from the buffet. Vegetarian options are available from all cuisines of the world. All delicious. But do not exaggerate, prices may seem high. You can take the ones you are curious about, little by little, and take them again a second time. Since we had a reservation, we were served at a nice table upstairs. I recommend making a reservation, especially if it's evening time. If you have a Zürich Card, be sure to tell the waiter. Finally, there are sweet treats thanks to the card.

My family and I visit regularly. We really appreciate the varied and good food. Unfortunately, we are noticing a deterioration. The service has been worse and worse the last two times. The estimated free water has also no longer been available since 2024. The buffet price also increased à la discretion. Just one of the points mentioned wouldn't be a problem, but the total will make a difference for the future. I hope things get better again, because we really appreciate the Hiltl.

I had a buffet ala discretion, it was very tasty. Conditions were ok. Food was very varied. The chocolate brownie was the tastiest dessert. The price is already high, but it justifies itself (price-performance ratio). The expenses for fresh food and staff etc . Of course I will come back next week

It's a pay-by-weight concept with a wide variety of options available at the buffet, spanning a diverse range of cuisines. Personally, I found that the Thai dishes stood out and had a more appealing taste compared to other options. In general, it offers a decent selection of vegetarian dishes, but it doesn't quite reach the level of extraordinary

Has been my absolute favourite place to eat for most of my life, and I only recently started avoiding meat. It is so good that meat would make it much less enjoyable. I'd say the food was better 10 years ago and the service was better then too, but it's still exceptional, I love their ethos and don't miss the shop round the corner too. The main reason I only occasionally eat here is cost and it's not especially near me.

Wonderful vegetarian buffet! They used to have the best cappuccinos in Zurich, but they unfortunately no longer have regular, lactose-free milk—only synthetic alternatives. This is disappointing as they have many items containing dairy in the buffet. Therefore, it does not make sense to have fewer milk options than they did in the past. They are gluten-free friendly.

I’ll probably come here again because the food is so good. But I’ll only do so when I have a lot of time to spare. The service is appalling: slow, inattentive and, when the waiter or waitress can be bothered to visit your table, brusque. It’s been getting that way for a while now but today it was little short of contemptuous. I nearly walked out between courses and I doubt anyone would have noticed if I’d done so. Update: January 2024 Having left a very negative review four years ago, I’m happy to report my post-pandemic visits- including one today - suggest that the the serious problems with the level of service have been corrected. And, if anything, the food is better than ever. It’s expensive, but someone from England criticising Switzerland for being expensive is a bit like complaining that water’s wet. I’m very happy to change my rating to five stars from two.

Totally worth it for a luxury food experience. I had a huge plate that I couldnt finish and was 30 francs… but probably only need about about 70% of that… so probably could have spent about 22… open spaciousness and light… great host at the front door explained everything… best to get to the buffet and self serve for value… oh they had gluten free bread in a wrapped packet too.

A great vegetarian restaurant, with the best variety in all of the city served in a buffet. The food is charged by weight so you only pay for what you eat from the buffet, unless you have the appetite, then you can take an unlimited meal for 63 CHF. Absolutely worth it if you are in the mood for a heavy meal. P.S. they had some great Indian food options too

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the world. There are more choices in the buffet than you can manage to try, even if you choose the all you can eat option. There’s so much variety! It’s global vegetarian cuisine, and it’s all delicious. The restaurant itself is super cool, hip and beautiful. This restaurant is iconic for sure. Absolutely recommend!

I'm a fan of choose-your-own buffets. That's why Hiltl is my favorite restaurant. My friend gets his spaghetti bolognese with extra sauce, even though it's not stated on the menu.

To be honest I a meat eater and a don't thick much of vegie meals but it was ok. If you don't try you don't know. Service was very good. Atmosphere was ok. And it was a bit expensive, especially as there was no meat, which actually makes "nomal" meals expensive and we had no alcohol .

We sat upstairs. Good selection to choose from on the menu. Vegetarian and vegan. The dining room was busy and the staff were attentive. My main course of pilz stroganoff was too salty for my taste. My companions ordered a dessert after the main course which should have been hot but wasn't so was sent back. Toilets were OK. Customer lift.

Really disappointed by the cold food and the rice wasn't even cooked properly. The gravies had a layer on top. Fried food was too oily. Overall food lacked any flavour. Plus fir such quality it was clearly really overpriced. Clearly an overhyped restaurant

Upscale cafeteria. When I go to the oldest Swiss restaurant for vegetarian food, I expect more than 80% Indian food. It tastes fine, but not nearly enough to justify the price for an Indian self-service restaurant. Please don't get me wrong - I love Indian food, as I said, I would have expected a lot more variety from the oldest "Swiss" restaurant. The still frozen cake was nice as a surprise for my partner's birthday (it would have been cool if the cake had been edible). What can I say - change your name or add more Swiss food - then it might work. Addendum: We already had that with the oldest, thanks for repeating it... It's great, really great - that you are the oldest, you are not one of the best and THAT is the more important criterion for which I would prefer to be recognized if I were a restaurateur. As I already said, I lack the choice, if the "whole world" for you consists of 85% India, I understand the buffet. I, however, wanted specialties from ALL over the world and not predominantly from my home country, have I now expressed myself more clearly? I am a disappointment (sorry - the oldest disappointment listed in the Guinness Book 😉😅) - in my very personal opinion. And no Lorena, I prefer flavor explosions on my tongue - so we certainly won't be stopping by again. All the best for the New Year to you too, Lorena and your team.

Really nice restaurant with great food and nice location

Great dinner. Service was fine. Buffet selection was great. I could imagine prices would seem high for tourists/foreigners to Switzerland but in eyes, it seemed adequate for Zürich. Expect to pay between 25 - 35 CHF for a plate from the buffet and non-alcoholic drink.

Great food, usually quite crowded and therefore a bit cramped.

This is an atrocity of a restaurant. I am European and the service and quality makes me ashamed to be blatantly ripped off for horrendous food. Rice was worse than United Airlines. I had Korean bbq wings and it was hot garbage. I’m a vegan and I don’t mince my words. The service was horrible, including Stephen verbally berating me and my guest for me sitting at a three seat table due to bad staff communication (I had made a two person reservation and said my name twice to the seater on the first floor when she indicated it’s fine to go and sit upstairs). The only good part about the service was that they remade my chai when I accidentally ordered with cows milk not knowing it isn’t vegan by default - I was happy to pay for that from the beginning but the waitress was nice. When you try to order dessert, like brownies, they tell you it’s self serve. Horrendous! I could have just gone to self serve without a reservation and not been yelled at. And then? The sweet potato brownie was bitter garbage. I’ve eaten in Washington DC for the same exact cost at an Asian vegan 5 star cuisine with amazing service, multiple drinks, plates, and dessert. This Hitl location would get 0 stars if it was possible. Don’t kid yourself and skip it at all costs! I had the decent to tip 15% but the truth comes out after you make me feel like an idiot for just wanting a nice evening in a “nice” restaurant! Disgusting service and it makes your culture look poor. Don’t even respond with all your emojis like you do to others and trying to make up for the ruined dinner.

What a beautiful restaurant & with sensational service. Some of us ate buffet and the other part from the menu. My vegan schnitzel from the tuber was super good with lukewarm potato salad. Absolute recommendation if you are in Zurich!

We were visiting Zurich for the new years weekend from London and were excited to dine here on a Friday (at 5:45pm, without reservation). We were offered a table for two in the middle of the restaurant on the second floor. We requested if the table could be moved near the windows; but were told unfortunately that they had reservations for the duration of our dinner. We noted that there quite a few tables near the windows still open throughout our dinner and until we left (around 7pm). We ordered a mushroom stroganoff and a potato rosti with grilled vegetables. The rosti was fantastic, so were the choices of cocktails (especially Italian 75). The mushroom stroganoff had too much rice and was overly salty. The waiter was kind enough to remove the charge on one of our drinks due to the disappointing dish. Overall, the restaurant has a fantastic choice of vegetarian food. We probably won’t come back due to the service and the quality of food, compared to the price.

We came to Hiltl with friends visiting from another city. The food was really fine, but the waiter attitude was awful… we were served by Tania and I can say that she nearly ruined our evening. Very unpleasant and cocky.

Our casual favorite go to vegan in Zurich. You always find a spot and have a delicious variety of fresh foods to choose from. Try the vegan „Creme Schnitte“ as dessert! Tables are a bit too squeezed in some areas.
