Holzschopf in Basel

We went by chance to celebrate my birthday. One waiter was there everywhere with a smile, it was truly incredible. The food was very delicious. We met the owner of the restaurant and chatted about being homesick, and his wife also came and said hello. We had a very enjoyable night, thank you.

Unfortunately not a good impression regarding food and service...

We always get excited at Carnival. Mostly towards the end of our visit to the carnival. That means, this year too, we were in the woods every day. Compared to other years, we always had enough space, which was probably due to the nice weather. The service was therefore problem-free, friendly and quick.

The Cordon Bleu was large and very filling as promised on the menu, which had a selection of Swiss dishes available

After eating snacks all afternoon, it was time for a proper sit down dinner. Holzschopf for casual Swiss, located in Claraplatz near the tram stop. Good service and a speedy meal, we had no problem ordering dinner in English. Chicken schnitzel with fries was fresh and hot. A good portion, tasty and enjoyable for dinner. With it, a cold beer. It's a comfortable and unpretentious restaurant. We had an enjoyable time.

Never go into this restaurant, there is unprofessional staff, the food is not good and the chef is poor in cuisine (the only thing that is not poor is the price is wrong) which means the prices are too high, my advice DO NOT TAKE THE CARBONARA, it is not good, the chef is not and capable of cooking spaghetti too al dente and instead of bacon he puts speck and this would be a chef but! and in addition I paid 31.-fr. with beer! (I laugh so as not to cry) Ps: on my side it is said I hope that the 31.-fr. that I paid for, they all go into medicine or pay for chef school

Located in the heart of Kleinbasel, near Claraplatz. The outside area is lovingly designed, flowers on the tables, placemats, etc. But be careful: not for those looking for peace and quiet, but great for city kids. Dotz is pulsating with life. Friendly, fast service, varied menu, very good food. Pteise moderate. Any time!

Overall a good place to eat. Good deal. I was there twice, we tried the Rösti with bacon and egg, the pizzas, the chicken salad that has a delicious dressing and the soup with egg. All very tasty. To highlight some drawbacks, the area, which is not the best of Basel. But otherwise everything is great. Reasonable price.

Always an absolute must when I am in Basel. There were five of us who received the food quickly and we were all very satisfied. My recommendation is the Cordon Bleu - whether veal or mock!

We are tourists A friend recommended that You must come and try the local food here. Every menu that you order and try is truly delicious. But personally, "Swiss Cheese Fondue" is for people who don't drink alcohol. Don't try it, the smell is very strong, if you eat it you'll get drunk and dizzy.

Tired after a long travel day and we found this very affordable Swiss restaurant with good food and friendly service. We were eating very late, so I don't know if you need reservations at earlier times.

The place where we went to eat Swiss cheese fondue attracts attention with its different atmosphere. Cheese fondue is not good at all with its bitter taste. It is served with bread that is not very fresh. The price is high.

We asked for cheese fondue at the place we went to upon recommendation. We went as 4 people, but we wanted to order for 2 people and do a taste test first, but they said that such a thing would not be possible and since we were there with 4 people, they had to make it for 4 people. The fondue they brought was sufficient in quantity, it was already quite oily, but the taste was delicious. It was bad. The alcohol content was not well adjusted, it tasted bitter and therefore we could not eat it. When we calculated the bill we paid in Turkish lira, we felt comfortable paying for the hot cheese we could not eat. We paid 2300 lira for 1 water, 1 mineral drink and fondue.

Pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the kitchen is closed from 2 p.m. on weekdays. No sandwiches or snacks. And a fresh croissant would be offered with coffee. Friendly and helpful staff.

Very friendly staff - rustic and delicious! After 20 years I was visiting my old adopted home of Basel. From the outside we thought whether it would be authentic... The presentation with "Pizza & Co." seemed to us to be somewhat snack-like. We were greeted very friendly and warmly by the employee. The cheese fondue was unbeatably delicious! Paired with the right red wine - it was perfect. The waitress (dark hair, also originally from Germany) took care of us at all times, even though the restaurant was very full! From the outside you might want to work on the advertising in the windows - because the first impression from the outside was not confirmed. We'd love to come back!

You can definitely go eat fondue

Tourist trap. The cordon bleu at a comparatively high price was just "gay", disgusting meat from start to finish. In my opinion, raclette doesn't fit into a cordon bleu either. I know a few that offer better quality than this, but they are usually about 10 euros cheaper. The ambience fulfills what the name promises, rustic. Only English could be heard among the few guests, which is not surprising given the food. The waitress made the whole experience a little better with her equally rustic but warm manner. That's why you're welcome to go there for a beer after work if you're not hungry yet.

There was no fondue. The treatment of the waitress was absolutely inappropriate. He didn't want to give us the wifi password. He was very clear about it even though we needed it. Very expensive and bad service. Not recommendable.

Throughly enjoyed our evening. Busy Saturday night but Julia was delightful, accommodating, and most helpful to a group of tourist as we enjoyed pizza, pasta, and wine.

We ordered fondue for 5 people. The fondue was not good. But the worst thing was that we only received 3 small bread baskets and had to order more after a very short time. We had to get up twice to look for the waitress to order more bread. The bread had to be warmed up first. In the end we had to leave the rest of the cheese fondue because we ran out of bread again. We tilted the window at our table to get some fresh air. We were immediately told in an unfriendly manner by the service that this wasn't possible! We even had to stand up to pay to draw attention to ourselves and to receive the bill. No apology or demand for our satisfaction from the staff. Overall unfriendly service and bad cheese fondue.

We had lunch here. Nice service. I then spent the afternoon sweating coldly and vomiting over the toilet bowl! My colleague “only” came away with a stomach ache. Absolutely never again! We ate pizza

The restaurant was empty when we arrived. The service was okay. I am unsure whether it was intentional that the place setting was placed for my companion (m) and not for me (f)? The man(s) simply handed me the cutlery, a la do it yourself. Likewise with the plate, they didn't bother with me and they did with my companion. Unfortunately my livers were a little overcooked, but otherwise good. The Cordonbleu is not recommended, especially not at this price. Basically rather expensive for what is offered.

Ordered schnitzel with fries, pork was still half raw and had to be returned. Side dishes from the freezer section of the discount store. Service was friendly, but for the price in Switzerland you would expect a lot more. Not recommendable.

Had badic German port and Switzerland. Was so good. The meat was seared on the outside and tender on the inside. The schnitzel was really good. Aldo the ice cream desert was good too.

Good lunch menu, inexpensive, nice service

We had dinner at the Holzschopf restaurant and sat outside. The service was friendly and the cordon bleu arrived within the promised 20 minutes. The cordon bleu was ok, the breading was crispy, but it had a bit too much bland cheese in it. Unfortunately you didn't taste the ham at all. Fully priced.

Pasta was about 18.5 euros, beer 4.5 euros, you probably won’t find a cafe cheaper in the area. The service was in English, which is very good, since many places do not speak English and the menu is also in English. We wanted to order cheese fondue, but we were told that they don’t make it in such hot weather.
