Every time I come here with my old mother, the service is slow and you are almost ignored. Why ??? I don't need it anymore, there are better and friendlier places

Small, clear map. Friendly staff. Pictures are interesting. Cakes are homemade.

Restaurant in a simple setting but very welcoming like the staff. Fast service, very good food and a very good exchange with the servers. I recommend the place.

Excellent lunch with menu of the day based on curried lentils, vegetables and basmati rice (the version with lamb, non-veg, was finished at around 2pm). The place is welcoming and the staff friendly. Prices average for the area, therefore high.

The food was very good thought certainly overpriced for what you got. I’m from the UK so my German is pretty rusty but I know enough to get by. When I went to this restaurant, it became immediately obvious that the staff didn’t speak English. Something I won’t criticise however, I felt quite ignored. Other tables that arrived after me were served first. I had to sit for 15 minutes after my plate was taken before I finally managed to get a member of staffs attention that I wanted to pay. I would certainly come here again if my German improved but certainly not before.

Almost everything is right! In the summer, the Kneipp Association in Basel and the surrounding area misses being open in the evenings!!! Yes, I know that, but we are not 35 people, most of this year there were 23 people and we wouldn't come until around 9:30 p.m.! Still, everything's fine and we'll be there in the afternoon! lbg dorothee

The paper mill is a top-run restaurant. We only had coffee, but there was a huge buffet set up for brunch.👍😁☀️

We have been going to this restaurant regularly for a long time and can only recommend it. Super nice staff and very tasty food.

We just had a drink, after 10 minutes we had to make ourselves known a little louder. The waitress came reluctantly and didn't want to serve us at first. Only when I got up to leave did she take the order. Our table neighbors also had to order three times before they received something. I definitely won't go there again 😎

The service was very friendly and fast. Food was very very average; would probably not come back unless the menu was improved. Not lactose-free friendly.

It's OK expensive prices on the menu

Very nice waiter. Unfortunately we had to wait quite a long time. There is also hot food available outside meal times. The terrace is right next to the stream. You can hear the splashing constantly. Anyone who has hearing problems should take this into account.

Glad that we made brunch reservations. It was not a nice day so seating was limited to indoors . It quickly filled. The pastry selection was heavenly. The menu - not as clear. Items listed on the chalk board were not available. Items on the menus we were given with English were also not available. Only items on an 8 x 11 piece of paper were available . Service was painfully slow. Two course lunch with coffee took two hours.

We have lunch at a small cafe next to the paper museum because it was raining when we left. Close and friendly service. One of the dishes was missing and they have changed it to a different proposal at the same price. Medium-high prices at the height of Switzerland.

The restaurant is great for a lunch break before or after visiting the paper museum. The food comes quickly, the service is friendly. So everything is fine.

Very good and very friendly people

The service was quick but very strange. When we asked for juice spritzers, we were told that it was probably not possible to offer several, who has that? Who has the space for that... I don't understand. So there was only apple spritzer. We sat outside, which was quite OK. The interior was quite full and quite narrow and loud. The toilet is old, dirty, neglected. Nobody wants to change their baby on the baby changing mat, it is smeared and completely dirty. For such a thing You can probably expect a little more from the location. We didn't want to eat there.

We drink something there. Very friendly service but yes, Switzerland is expensive for poor Europeans 😉 Small note: Home made Ice tea (10€ for 1/2L) was not really special and was not even cold (it was 35 degrees outside). (You really need to put ice in the glasses.) But a nice place to sit in the shade, near the water mill of the old paper factory. You can see that mill from nearby.

Nice atmosphere but unfortunately the service was rather slow and I ordered cake without flour, supposedly super tasty but rather super dry...

We had chicken buddha bowl, schnitzel and sausage salad, in a very cute little village. Service was great!

Hey friends I recently went to Serge's restaurant for the first time with my colleague who lives in the same building. I have to say it makes a really good impression for me because the selection of cakes is good and the coffee is also very good and strong. I would say we'll come back with our motorbikes, especially when the weather is nice, then I'll try the Linzertorte, which looks very tasty. I would say: see you at Serge's. Perfect service, best hot red wine and tasty

With a lot of people, the staff is a little overwhelmed. But the cakes are really delicious. You just need a little patience, especially on the weekends.

Cozy restaurant in a beautiful building

Small and inconspicuous, the paper mill is in your place. But nonetheless, she has earned her place. She offers a lot of homemade things. Has a constantly changing seasonal menu The only negative point is that the dishes are not for "full" or long-lasting menus, but rather for hunger in between. (My opinion) But otherwise great.

Great location in the St. Alban district. Fair prices and good offer. Only the service could have been a little faster. But there were few staff there, but they were very friendly.

I love this restaurant! They have fantastic service and fantastic food! It’s a great place to grab brunch with friends outside. They make all of their baked goods themselves and they are DELICIOUS. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem of Basel.

We were here for brunch: Birchermüesli, fruit salad, orange jus, various breads including plaited bread and croissants, butter, jam and honey, cheese, grilled vegetables, salami, bacon, fried eggs and scrambled eggs, fried bacon and cipolata, with a warm drink of your choice . It was comfortable, good and quite enough for us. Price-performance 👍👍👍

Very well-kept restaurant in the center of the old town of Basel. No exorbitant prices, down-to-earth and yet no “cheap” atmosphere. The view of a historic water wheel is also pretty to look at.

Ich habe 20 Jahre in unmittelbarer Nähe zu diesem Restaurant gearbeitet und es hat sich immer mehr zu unserer persönlichen “Kantine” gemausert. Shiva und sein Team sind super. Im Normalfall läuft der Service reibungslos; von ein paar Ausnahmen abgesehen. Aber die kann ich an einer Hand abzählen.Das Personal hat immer ein Ohr für Sonderwünsche oder Anpassungen offen. Während des Lockdowns hat Shiva dann ein Take-Away angeboten. Das Essen ist abwechslungsreiche und es sind ein paar richtige Juwele unter den Gerichten (mit Gemüse gefüllte Crêpe z.B.). Alle Kuchen sind hausgemacht und sehr zu empfehlen. Seit Mai arbeite ich an einem anderen Ort und vermisse die Papiermühle mit ihrem Team und der Auswahl sehr - obwohl am neuen Arbeitsort unzählige Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten verhanden sind.

A wonderful place, wonderful ambience next to the calming mill wheel that is constantly making its rounds. After a long time we finally had the opportunity to enjoy this place again. The reservation went well, the staff was very open, friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious and we will definitely be back!! :) I'm already looking forward!

Und wieder einmal war das mittäglich takeaway sehr lecker. Es gab Siedfleisch mit Meerrettichsauce und Ofengemüse. Sehr, sehr lecker. Ich freue mich schon auf den Rest der Woche. Und möchte mich ganz herzlich dafür bedanken, dass Shiva und sein Team in dieser speziellen Coronazeit für uns ein so feines mittägliches takeaway anbietet. Es lohnt sich vorbeizuschauen und am Fenster ein gutes Mittagessen abzuholen.

Mehrfach habe ich versucht, einen Tisch am Sonntag für den Brunch zu ergattern. Erst nach mehreren Anläufen hat es geklappt. Leider waren wir dann total enttäuscht. Die Brote und der Zopf sind super. Ansonsten ist das Angebot mickrig und für den Preis fast schon eine Frechheit. Es gab drei Sorten Konfitüre, Honig, etwa drei Käse und zwei Sorten Fleisch/Aufschnitt. Daneben gab es noch etwas Grillgemüse und eine Gemüsewähe oder ähnliches. Ein Birchermüsli war auch noch im Angebot sowie einige lauwarme englische Frühstücksspeisen (Eier, Speck, Würstli). Erst als die Angestellten sich selbst verköstigt haben, wurde der Rohschinken aufgetischt. Auch liess die Präsentation eher zu wünschen übrig. Neben dem Buffet befindet sich ein Kühlschrank mit Kuchen. Wir haben gefragt, ob diese auch erhältlich seien. Nein, hat es geheissen. Diese seien für spätere Gäste. Die Kuchen hätten das sonst spärliche Buffet wenigstens aufgewertet. Der Brunch in der Papiermühle kann also nicht empfohlen werden und ist nicht zu vergleichen mit dem grossen Angebot im Matisse oder der tollen Atmosphäre im Salz und Zucker, welche im gleichen Preissegment liegen.

Das Essen in diesem Restaurant ist sehr lecker, die Einrichtung ist sehr schön und die Lage perfekt, gerade am Rhein. Alles top!

Das Papiermühle Restaurant ist ein sicherer Wert für uns. Der liebenswerte Chef Siva, die tolle Jenny und Sindu, sind unschlagbar als Gastgeber... und was uns erwähnenswert auffällt, auch die Dame aus Georgien wird zunehmend freundlicher!!Das Angebot reicht vom Weekend Brunch, Lunch unter der Woche, tolle hausgemachte Kuchen bis zu einem wirklich hervorragenden Kaffee. Wir haben nun sogar die Wahl von einem Veganen Kuchen, dass freut uns sehr. Wir waren auch schon an einem indischen Abend in diesem Restaurant. Es wurde wundervoll gesungen, getanzt, freundlich serviert.. und das indische Buffet war sehr authentisch. Es mundete sehr gut! Alles prima, wir kommen wieder!!

Wir waren zur besten Mittagszeit eingetroffen, hatten nicht reserviert und bekamen trotzdem einen guten Platz. Die Mittagsgerichte wurden mit Vorspeise (Suppe oder Salat) angeboten. Alles war frisch zubereitet und schmeckte ausgezeichnet. Die Bedienung waren alle nett und zuvorkommend. Rundum ein gelungener Mittagstisch.

Tuvimos un buen almuerzo aquí. Antes de visitar el museo en sí. Yo personalmente tuve el plato grande de ensalada mixta (€ 21) y estuvo bien. El servicio también era bueno. Creo que € 21 es mucho dinero para este plato de ensalada, pero experimenté que los precios en Basilea son altos de todos modos.

Unfortunately we were too late for dinner on Sunday. The “Paper Mill” closes its doors at 6 p.m. So: always pay attention: it ends by 6 p.m. at the latest! However, we were still given a very friendly welcome shortly beforehand and after a short consultation with the kitchen we were served a decently prepared quiche with a salad that was kept tasty with pea dressing. Highly recommended during the day or at midday for anyone with a slight penchant for something special.

After the waiting time was very long on my first visit and the desserts we ordered only came a little later after the coffee and tea, I gave the restaurant another chance - especially because the food looked good. Unfortunately, the waiting time hasn't changed much - it took a long time before we could place the order and also until the food was served. The staff seemed overwhelmed and some of them no longer knew which table they had to serve the food to. The menu salad we ordered was very small (about 5 lettuce leaves). Lasagne and cheesecake with salad were then served. The lasagna was extremely small and the top layer was burnt. The last piece was probably served here. After eating you were still hungry! The cheesecake was good, but there was far too little salad dressing on the salad. The additional sauce that was ordered was not served. It's a shame, the restaurant is in a great location and the quality of the food is good. The staff is overwhelmed, more people probably need to be hired and/or processes need to be improved.

Small cafeteria-restaurant, next to the paper mill and the paper museum. Area with a special charm, it seems like you are on the outskirts of Basela and in another bygone era. The cakes and coffee are very delicious!
