The waiter was friendly :) It was a rainy day, but he took care of my umbrella, which I almost left behind. For food, I had beef goulash and a cabbage roll, and I ordered a glass of cola, so I think it came out to about 60 francs. The beef goulash tasted like braised ribs, and the cabbage roll. It felt like I was eating slightly bland dumpling filling~ hahaha I was only eating bread, but then I ate seasoned food and it was delicious.

Great tasting food, very homey and the staff were so attentive and generous. They came and tried all sorts of ways to entertain our little toddler, and we tried some delicious salami as well! Thanks for such a welcoming experience.

Speechless. The best restaurant on this trip, which included Switzerland and Italy. Be careful for those who don't like spicy food, especially the Beef Gulash dish. The best dishes were the two pork and duck, they are incredible.

One of the best meals we had in Switzerland - super flavoursome and a wholesome goulash that we needed on a chilly icy day. Very welcoming hosts and would 100% recommend.

One of the best restaurants I been to in Switzerland, maybe a bit small but the food was fantastic! Their Chicken schnitzel was 10/10 and so as the rest of the food that we had. The atmosphere at the restaurant was very welcoming and the people who work there were very attentive and nice, definitely will be coming back if will be in the area again :)

Best restaurant in Interlaken hands down. We came because of the rave reviews and Hoppla did not disappoint. The owner/server is so nice and he even gave us free wine after commenting that he couldn't bear to see us only eating our dinner with water to drink haha. The restaurant is small with only a few tables, but the meal was just so good. I usually don't like sweet potato puree, but somehow the one they served with the pork steak was perfectly seasoned and creamy. It surprisingly went very well with the pork, sprouts, and bok choy. It's clear that they know how to cook and it was the best meal of our trip. It's difficult to cook bok choy well in my opinion and they did it perfectly. The goulash was hearty and delicious as well with great spaetzle.

They accommodated me even though the place had a huge reservation in the evening. Had beef goulash, very good. Friendly owner too.

This restaurant was recommended by a Hungarian friend, who said it tasted like his grandma’s home-cooked food. The food tastes pretty good, but Taiwanese people prefer the fattier beef brisket, while its Hungarian beef tastes more spicy and the seasoning is saltier. The service and dining environment are very good, and the wine paired with it is delicious. The restaurant is not big, with about 12 seats. If you want to experience Hungarian 🇭🇺 cuisine, it is highly recommended.

Last meal on the last night of our honeymoon! Although I couldn't find it absolutely delicious for my palate accustomed to Korean food full of various spices (due to cultural differences), visiting this place during a 10-day trip was like finding an oasis in the middle of the desert! Pork Steak: It was really delicious. As you can see in the photo, I would have licked the whole thing if I hadn't been in shape!! Cabbage Ssam (?): The taste of home found in Igukmanri!! I could smell the kimchi and it was really delicious!! Goulash: It was delicious, but it felt unfamiliar!! Wine: My son saw us and recommended each of us. I don't know much about wine, but it was really delicious!! In addition, the kindness and cheerfulness of the owner's hat (as seen in the review) beautifully packaged my memories of Switzerland, the last night of my honeymoon! Koreans who had a hard time with greasy food while traveling in Europe should definitely visit!!

I came here after reading the reviews and it was really good. Cabbage rolls are refreshing and delicious like stir-fried kimchi. Goulash is spicy and good. I tried it and the dishes were so delicious that I ordered another pasta dish that came with roast duck. It was the most delicious restaurant I had in Europe. The owner is also friendly

This restaurant is a bit hidden from the main street, but it's so worthy it! I ordered the duck breast and the homemade lemonade. The meat was outstanding; very well seasoned, so tender and it melts in your mouth. Staff is very friendly too.

Norbert, the host/owner/waiter, was amazing. He always had recommendations whenever we asked for it, whether it be what wine to try or what dishes to eat. It was a pleasure to talk with him. My girlfriend and I had the orange fennel salad to start, then the cabbage rolls and beef goulash to share. Finally ending with the cake of the day, which was a rolled cake with mascarpone filling and raspberries. The salad was interesting and refreshing if you like fennel since it was the base of the salad, and the orange was sweet to compliment the licorice flavor. The entrees were delicious and homey in the best way possible. Dessert was great. Norbert also gave us some bread, pickles, and extra creme fraiche with the entrees and a digestif to end the meal with after the dessert. All in all, a great experience if you are looking for delicious food and great hospitality in Interlaken.

I ate goulash and cabbage rolls. European food can be a bit greasy and boring to Koreans, but the goulash was spicy and the cabbage rolls were refreshing and spicy, perfect for my taste. Recommended for those who are tired of European food during a long trip. Kindness is a bonus

The best meal my wife and I had during our time in Switzerland. We ordered the Burrata dish as a starter, which was delicious. Followed by the goulash and the chicken crepes. Both entrees were superb. The desert tied it all together, and we could have eaten two of them! Service was absolutely great, and we would highly recommend this restaurant to all in Interlaken. Our only regret was that we were only able to eat here once!

There should be a line around the block for this place. Absolutely fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. The best meal we’ve had while in Switzerland. Best food of our 2-week european adventure, hands down! It has a hole in the wall feel/location, but EXCELLENT food, drink, and service. We almost died, it was so good. We had the chicken crepes, pork cutlets with morrel sauce, a recommended white wine, and beer. All top notch, and while pricier than expected, we would have happily paid more once we'd tasted everything.

Amazing authentic Hungarian food with super kind staff

The owner and the cook are very helpful and friendly. I had the cabbage rolls with French cream. My husband and son had the goulash, catfish, and pork tenderloin. All if the foods and wines were delicious, as well as the cake!

Small, quaint restaurant, a little off of the main road but not too far. The waiter was super friendly and gave us some good tips on what to order. All the food was fresh and it was delicious. The meat was a bit on the saltier side but I think it’s the way Swiss people like their meats. Get the lemonade was delicious!- homemade with fruit fruit and bubbly! It’s not overly crowded since it’s off the main road. Don’t miss this little gem tho!

We were in the Jungfrau area for 9 days and this was hands down the best meal we had! Service was amazing, food was SO good! We got the pork steak and beef ganache. I wish we would have discovered this place sooner since we definitely would have eaten here more than once. Definitely recommend!

Highly recommend eating here if you’re in Interlaken! We chose this place because it sounded interesting and the food ended up being so insanely delicious. Once we sat down the owner recommended a great glass of Riesling wine for our meal. To start, we got the lamb lettuce salad which was so fresh and yummy with a great dressing. We also had the beef gulash and catfish and both were equally delicious and wished I could keep eating them. We normally never had room for dessert but since the food was so good, I had to try one and the mascarpone raspberry roll we had was so yummy, it was worth the indulgence. On top of the great meal, the owner and his mother were both such a sweet and attentive team. You can tell they put a lot of love into their business and it made our dinner choice that much better.

Amazing place. Ran by lovely people with 10/10 food. We turned up at 8 after a long day hiking and they were happy to accommodate. Host spoke great English and had English menus for us. The Duck was so juicy and tender and the breaded chicken with mash was unreal. They were very gracious and we loved our evening there.

HE WILL ALSO TRY TO SELL YOU A SPECIAL THAT IS NOT ON THE MENU OR ON THE BOARD OUTSIDE, AND NAME A PRICE, THEN LATER CHANGE THE PRICE. VERY DISHONEST RESTAURANT DONT NOT TRUST THESE REVIEWS, THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST FRAUD IN INTERLAKEN.

We were super excited to visit this restaurant following all the great reviews, but we were left very disappointed. 1. The waiter/owner was quite pushy on what we should order and we were given no time to think about what we wanted to order, especially in terms of drinks. 2. The "homemade lemonade" is disgusting. It's a bunch of random fruits in a cup with some soda water. Nothing near a lemonade. It is one of the most expensive soft drinks on the menu and the owner sells it out as the best thing. It's genuinely not unless you are a fan of soda water for 6 CHF. I was expecting a glass of freshly squeezed lemons and it's definitely not what I got. 3. The weekly specials are a scam. The price they charge for the weekly specials is much more expensive than the regular menu items, and the dishes themselves aren't even that great, let alone big in portion size. 4. Overall, the food isn't anything to rave about, it's mediocre and not worth the price at all. This brings into question how genuine the 5 star reviews are.

A dishonest restaurant! First of all, as soon as we sat down, the boss came over to order drinks and wanted to push us to order wine. We said: It's too hot and we are thirsty. Please give us two glasses of tap water! He said: We did not provide tap water, only opened bottled water. We said yes, no problem! As a result, a guest from another table (who had some red wine or beer to drink) asked the boss for tap water, and he provided tap water directly. I have no problem paying for bottled water, but I think this behavior from the boss is very inappropriate. Next, the checkout amount of most Swiss restaurants includes 7.7% tax. This restaurant is special! After all meals are settled, an additional 7.7% tax will be added! Personally, I think this restaurant is very dishonest. Maybe it’s easier to make money from tourists! I came here because I saw the Google map score was very high, but after eating I felt like I was being treated like a plate... A dishonest restaurant!! First, when we sat down and the boss came to order the drink, he proposed drink some wine. we were thirsty so we ordered two cups of tap water. He said: We don’t provide tap water, only bottled water! We said: OK! No problem! After that, the guests at other tables drank red wine or beer and asked the boss for “tap water”. He directly provided it for them. I have no problem paying for bottled water at all, but I don't think the boss's behavior is appropriate! Second, The price of most Swiss restaurants includes 7.7% tax. This restaurant is quite special. After all meals, an additional 7.7% tax is added! Personally, I think this restaurant is very dishonest…it is easier to make money from tourists.

This is a small bistro that is run by a mother and son duo from Hungary. I'll start by saying I am very jealous of the son for growing up with such an amazing cook for a mother. I had the zucchini and meat balls and I don't think I had a better meal in all of Switzerland. The mother and son are both lovely, and very helpful. The service is next to none, and the food is out of this world. They desrve a Michelin star... Don't skip dessert! It's amazing as well!

This was the best restaurant in Interlaken. Away from the busy streets, among the locals, you'll find this Hungary gem! The food was delicious, homemade and very authentic. We had the pork medallions with morel sauce and tagliatelle pasta, lamb lettuce salad and the goulash with spatzali. We ate our plates clean! The service was so fantastic, he spoke multiple languages, had great recommendations and made you feel at home. He even offered us a schnapps after the meal (as the Hungarians do) and it was a wonderful complement to the meal and overall experience! If you are in Interlaken and want wonderful food, off the beaten path and friendly service - go to Hoppla Bistro. *****

Small, but cosy place in a short distance apart from full filled tourist streets. No empty seat. We had a luck, the previous guests were leaving, so we got seated. Very tasty meals and wine (Riesling🤩). The staff was very opened and heart-warming. Thank You guys🙏

Highly recommended. Nice food at a reasonable price and not too far from the train station; worth going. We love the food and also the hospitality of the chief and his mom :) We had beef gulash with spatzli & Hungarian cabbage rolls. We can feel the passion they have in their cuisines so that they come out sooooo tasty! The coffee and cake are also really nice! I’m a cake lover and the cake is the best I had in the EU so far! As a tourist I think it’s surprisingly even better than those in the famous cafe (too sweet for me..) Not too sweet & not too heavy, look simple though but everything just in a great balance with humble but abundant flavors. Will miss the cake & the cuisines. 🥹

Awesome place. Small restaurant, not very much going on near it. Mom does most of the cooking, Son does the serving. Best waiter of all time. Helpful recommendations on which foods to try, since my family had never tried Hungarian food. Service was great, as there are only 5 tables in the entire place. I pretty much had the waiter order my entire meal and drink for me. Incredible wine, and food to match it. Home made pasta and bread. Affordable price. Will go again if back in Interlaken

I would rate this 10 stars if it was possible. I visited Switzerland for 10 days and this was BY FAR the best meal that I had. This restaurant is run by a mother and son who are both fantastic! Probably the best restaurant in Interlaken. Off the beaten path. The food was amazing and very authentic. The homemade bread and variety of wine were divine. The only thing better than the food was the service. The whole place was only run by 2 people, a mother and son duo. This meal literally made me want to leave Switzerland and travel to Hungary. I will definitely be returning if I am in interlaken again in the future.

A really family-friendly small restaurant with delicious home-made Hungarian flavors. The owner and mother who made and accepted the reservation for me were very kind and humorous, which was great, and the food was very delicious. It's art.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Just trust the boss and eat it. I ate every ounce of goulash sauce. However, it is a bit hot inside the store, so if you feel hot, you can sit near the door and eat.

Fantastic, best food in interlaken

This was one of our favorite meals of our whole trip. Our group had a great experience. The food was delicious, the wine was excellent, and our waiter was very friendly and helpful.

I had glacier, pork steak, cabbage roll and 2 beers. The owner was very pleasant and fun. Thank you for continuing to ask if the food tasted good. I went with my wife and we ordered 3 dishes and were so full...I think I could have just eaten 2. There's quite a bit of it! If I recommend 2 out of 3, you must try the glacier and the steak. It's delicious. This is a place I want to come back to!

Hoppla is a fabulous restaurant. The service is extremely personal and professional. I believe the server was also the owner, perhaps. He took the time to explain his Hungarian wines and let us try a couple. Everything was delicious, but the highlight of the meal was the cake. It was so delicious we ordered a 2nd slice. The meal was also an excellent value. I will miss this restaurant when I leave Switzerland!

Lovely little restaurant, owner was very friendly and even offered me some wine to pair with the chicken crepes (although I don't drink alcohol that much sorry). The lemonade drink was fantastic as well, and very insta worthy :D Sorry about promising to go back a second time but we only had 2 days left at Interlaken and there were so many other places to try out! Maybe the next time I visit Switzerland hahaha :)

Love the food and service there! While the restaurant is small, the service, ambience and food makes up for everything. We had the pork loin tagliatelle and beef goulash. Portion was huge and the taste was exceptional! Service was also wonderful, love the small chat with the manager (I think) and left feeling satisfied and great. He even gave me and wife digestifs on the house to complete our meal before we go! In my next visit to Interlaken, I will definitely visit Hoppla again! Great job Hoppla!

This is the most delicious restaurant in Switzerland. Pork steak, goulash, cabbage roll, zucchini, The pasta was all delicious and the burrata salad was also very fresh. My parents also like it so much that I am very satisfied. The staff is also very pleasant and friendly.

This place is great and the owners were very friendly. I had the Hortobágyi palacsint (chicken crepes) and the homemade lemonade and they both were divine. We were lucky enough to walk-in and sit down, but I recommend getting a reservation. Also the bathrooms are nice and super clean.

The moment you stepped into the bistro, you will be welcomed by their very friendly boss! He really give good recommendations on their food! Their portions are huge and satisfying!
