Hôtel de Mauvoisin in Bagnes

I had the pleasure of eating at the beginning of October on the terrace of this hotel in superb weather. Very good food. We ate the hunt. I will return there very happily.

Bike stop during our Combain bike tour, excellent location for us. The structure is old but well preserved and managed. We are in Switzerland and you pay handsomely to sleep and eat. The bathroom and showers are shared on the corridor. We had a more than decent dinner on half board. The external environment is a lot of stuff.

A review that concerns the restaurant only. What we ate was simply excellent. I took the vegetarian dish, in theory very simple (a cauliflower), but in practice, it was a delight, full of different flavors. We are far from simple “mountain cuisine”. The service was also up to par. A lovely rediscovery of this place that I have been frequenting for... over 40 years!

Arriving by bus or car at the end of the road which goes up to the Mauvoisin dam, you will find the Mauvoisin hotel, an old building set on a rock and with a beautiful terrace facing the mountain. Despite the altitude (1,940 meters), the establishment is rather neat. The new owners who arrived in June 2023 offer an unexpected selection of Alpine wines, and the dishes are out of the ordinary (no fondue). There are suggestions for all tastes (carno-pesco-vegetarian) and lovely dessert options. The place is very popular on weekends so if you are impatient come during the week, or reserve your table with the owners. The double rooms are simple but clean and tidy. There is even a dormitory for large families or friends. The crown of the Mauvoisin dam is 30 minutes away and the Chanrion cabin is a 4-hour walk. The tour of Lake Mauvoisin is quite long (25 KM, 8h30 walk) and can also be done by mountain bike, a beautiful ride in a high mountain setting.

We sat here for lunch, everything was simply perfect. After a long journey, that was the best lunch we ate for long time. The waitress was so kind and helpful. Thanks again!!!

A magnificent weekend in a comfortable, warm, clean place where the dishes are exquisite and worthy of a great Chef who cooks with his heart and passion. Thank you to the whole team for the welcome and the impeccable service, we will come back! Long live the Hôtel de Mauvoisin!

We chose to spend the night in this hotel on the Combins tour. It is well located coming down from Panossière and allows you to shorten the stage towards Chanrion. There is a very nice terrace. The room does not have a private bathroom but the showers and toilets nearby are very clean and comfortable. We chose to eat a la carte. The fish & chips were not of good quality. I regretted. The fixed breakfast is served at the table and was very good. The picnic sandwich was excellent. Communication by email is sometimes confusing.
