No reception, we had to look for our table ourselves. Although we had a reservation, the menu offered turned out to be particularly limited, because the chef had just left. However, we had warned that we were coming at 1 p.m. We had to settle for an indigestible fondue at an exorbitant price and fried nuggets.

A priori nice place but don't be fooled by appearances.... What to start with ?! The view is great but I think that doesn't outweigh all the negatives we encountered during our stay. The waitresses/waiters are nice, we can't say the same about the "boss". The tartare supposed to be cut with a knife looks more like minced meat, as bland as possible, we point this out but we are suggested to add salt or pepper... at CHF 39.- the tartare I think we can at least have something less bland on the plate... The prices are overrated. The next morning at lunch ALL the yogurts were expired, this can happen although.... I point it out but the boss himself tells me that if it's not bulging it's ok and that he will finish eating even my yogurt expired on August 1st, I think it's a joke but absolutely not. This raises concerns regarding hygiene in a public establishment; a little check from the cantonal veterinary service would not do any harm. We are told that the water is not drinkable everywhere in the establishment that we should not drink it but serve yogurt that is more than 14 days expired, that's fine... one wonders if that is not the case. It's not yet a trick to still buy them a bottle of water at a GOLD price. In short, if I hike in the region again I would rather die of thirst and suck a twig of grass than give a single cent. The boss's unexpected responses at least "almost" made me laugh and led to hallucinations about what we define today as a pseudo boss. Too bad for the establishment which is well located but which is run by an incompetent person who has an answer for everything.

We celebrated our wedding at Le Chasseron and spent the night there with a good number of our guests. The managers and their wonderful team went above and beyond all afternoon and most of the night to provide an absolutely unforgettable evening for our guests and ourselves. Well, frankly disappointing, we arrive at 3:50 p.m., we are refused access to the superb veranda with a magnificent view of the plain and the Alps, because "it's full this evening" there are still tables in a dark space with no view, we are left straight away, not sure I'll come back or bring friends to this place. There are other more welcoming refreshments and restaurants in the surrounding area.

The view is magnificent, the service is less so. We were 4 Nordic ski hikers who arrived at Chasseron to spend the night. No problem for the dormitory and the toilets. For dinner, the roesti do not have the usual pancake shape but are not really bad. The boss comes to see us at the table to explain to us that we are the only ones spending the night up there. The restaurant was full but everyone went back downstairs. He won't be able to get up early the next morning to serve us breakfast in the restaurant. (we even agreed for 8 a.m./8:30 a.m.…) He offered to prepare breakfast for us in the shoe room. The next morning, the temperature in the room is a bit warm and the ingredients we find in the fridge are frozen. But the most unpleasant thing is the light in the room which goes out regularly. We have to press the switch every minute located four steps higher, behind a door. The day before we had asked for boiling water to fill our thermoses. Impossible, they only have a 2 liter thermos. The hot water provided was just enough for our cups of coffee or tea, forcing us to heat water on our bivouac stove. This stop was the only downside of our trip, all the other addresses offered much better quality service and welcome.

My companion orders passion fruit and I order passion fruit and coconut. My partner gets a bucket of passion fruit ice cream, I get a coconut bucket.??? There is a cozy Swedish stove in the room, but it doesn't burn and we sit at the table with our jackets on. A pity. It seems as if this restaurant only thrives on daytime visitors (who may not be so discerning) or on the view, but not on the food on offer. Really a shame.😏

The meal (steak tartare) was very good and we received good advice from the waitress who was friendly. The room with “mountain” comfort is acceptable. The price of 166.- for 2 is very high, but this is explained by the location and the incredible view. Above all, we could say that breakfast is included in the price. Problem, in the morning when discovering the buffet (which from 8:30 a.m. is supposed not to be self-service) we discover that we ultimately pay little attention to our guests. Bread, white, and that's it. Industrial honey. One and only jam, which seems to be artisanal, but no indication on the label to know what it contains (we failed to become one). A knife is placed inside so that we can help ourselves. For cheese, you can taste a succulent “Gerber” spreadable cheese. Meat non-existent. Hot water is placed in a water carafe! The coffee machine that you can use offers coffee or espresso, while the staff enjoys Latte Macchiato a little further away. Finally, the customer can literally and figuratively cook an egg thanks to a machine expressly designed for it! Result? Before 8:30 a.m. we would have highly recommended this stay to our loved ones, but this is no longer the case. Make a homemade braid, put a wholemeal bread, introduce products from the Auberson cheese factory, cheese and yogurt, honey from a beekeeper in the region, put 3-4 jams and indicate what is in them , with a spoon!, finish with a dry sausage from the region and why not offer these products for sale in a window?!! With a budget of 166.-, there is something to do and see in the long term rather than maximizing your gains.

Pour s'améliorer: café gourmand en dessert que vous pouvez choisir entre thé ou café, il a de l'ananas au basilic, une crème brûlée et un brownie. Le thé était bon, l'ananas au basilic était insipide, probablement en conserve, le brownie était sec et un peu dur, extrêmement petit, un peu vieux, et la crème brûlée était si petite qu'après une petite cuillère était épuisée. L'idée du café/thé gourmand est géniale, car elle permet au client de goûter à d'autres options de restaurant, mais je recommande une reformulation et une amélioration pour que l'expérience soit encore meilleure. Tout au plus je recommande ce bon restaurant.
