Hotel Restaurant Krone in Urnäsch

The restaurant is well set up for the family and the kids have fun (The train is really funny) and the pizza is really good. Only the service from the service staff is quickly challenged/overwhelmed. You can also make the green salad much better yourself. Conclusion: The Pizza and the Train does a good job in this restaurant!

A must if you are in Urnäsch!! Food, service, everything was top!! You feel comfortable and welcome! And the train is just cool

Cycling tour Appenzell. Didn't get what was advertised on the bike tour. And the schnitzel was tough, the vegetables were still hard. Service is ok.

Arrived today at 1:10 p.m. When I asked, I was told that the kitchen was open until 2 p.m. We then decided to eat in the Krone. We waited 20 minutes for someone to clear the table. In the same room, two tables that came after us were already served. At some point a menu came and we were promised drinks that we could have ordered on the third attempt. 45 minutes later still nothing ordered neither drinks nor food. And again 2 other tables were served before us. After that we decided to leave. The service was moderately friendly and not at all stressful. I work in service myself and what I experienced in the Krone today was a complete disaster. Never again.

Totally overwhelmed staff. Arrived at around 1:10 p.m. (restaurant not even half full) and waited for over 30 minutes without being able to order anything at all. Guests who came after us were served before us. When no one from the service came to our table, we left the restaurant without ordering anything. Unfortunately never again!

Service is overwhelmed and runs away in the middle of a sentence because it's stressed. Food is good, salad buffet could be better.

The second time we were there for 2 nights hiking. Great value for money. Nice spacious rooms (great price for a single room). Great breakfast buffet. Everything very fresh. We ate in the restaurant twice. Yes, it's true: there are a lot of guests and the service is stressful. We had holidays and time and were served very friendly. The pizzas taste delicious and Robert even made the effort to organize vegan cheese. We'll definitely be back, thank you

20 minutes wait for the drinks and over an hour wait for two pizzas. It was only half full and all the tables were asking what was going on. These waiting times are unbearable, especially with children. Too bad

The service was totally overwhelmed. Half was forgotten. The orders took forever. The ice cream praline is overpriced at 12.50 for not even a scoop of ice cream. The bananas in the banana split were already brown. The spoon that ended up in the plate was just wiped off with a napkin. The ice cream was tasty but overall a disappointment.

Never seen so many flies in a restaurant. The food tasted good, yes. But it was impossible to enjoy it because the flies came every 4 seconds and we had to send them away. very unclean place

The pizzas are average, I expect more from a pizzeria. The train only ran twice throughout the evening and only brought dessert for the children... I wouldn't go again because of the pizzas, nor because of the train...

Friendly staff. Was a bit stressed at dinner (as there were a lot of guests and not so much staff), but was always friendly and took care of things. Staying with children was pleasant, children could paint and were impressed by the train that brought the ice cream.

Delicious pizza, family friendly, nice staff

We have been to the Krone twice in the last week. On our first visit we had to wait 40 minutes for drinks. The food came after 60 minutes. At least it was good. We therefore decided (not least because of the lack of alternatives in Urnäsch) to try it again. This time we “only” waited 30 minutes for the drinks. The meal took just under 75 minutes. It takes a total of 10 minutes to serve all the dishes for 8 people (we're talking about pizza here); a pizza was massively burned. The dessert then took another 25 minutes after ordering and was again served “in stages”. This is completely unacceptable given the prices (around 23 francs per pizza). The food was beyond burnt delicious and the service was polite. But it's no use if you have to wait that long. We also had children with us, which makes it even more unacceptable. Before the hint comes that you should have said something: we have that. An apology was made and it still took another 25 minutes. There was no deduction or schnapps on the house. Due to the lack of alternatives in Urnäsch, we can only hope that this will improve significantly. So the only thing left to do is cook in the holiday apartment. I think it's understandably unreasonable if you "have" to spend 3.5 hours in a pizzeria with children. It should also be noted that the restaurant was not full.

We have been satisfied in recent years. This year we went to the Krone twice during our Reka holidays. Unfortunately it wasn't really good both times. The food took forever (60 minutes+ even though the restaurant wasn't full) for the adults the food came over 15 minutes. Pizza was burnt, calzone raw inside, porcini mushroom risotto lukewarm, tagliatelle inedibly spicy. I think we'll pass next year - after 12 years. A pity.

This hotel is really great and something very special. We spent a week there. The room (double room Comfort) was very large and had a terrace (good for smokers). The service was really more than impressive. Every day at least 1 new bottle of mineral water was left after the room was cleaned and the coffee bar in the room was always refilled. The friendliness and talkativeness of all the hotel employees was really great. The location of the hotel is really optimal, 200m away from Urnäsch train station and the bus stop. We booked half board for the week and the food was impressive. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, including regional specialties, especially various types of cheese. The 3-course evening menu left little to be desired. Second helpings were also served. The head of the house also knew how to convince people with his style. Our conclusion is 5 stars. The location of the hotel is excellent. The reception is wonderful, especially Brother Kourosch from the reception. He helped us and met all our needs and told us about the parking lots and places worth visiting. The services are excellent. The hotel is quiet and renovated. I liked it in all aspects. It is 13 minutes away from the center and the breakfast is varied. And delicious.. They have an Italian restaurant in the hotel and the food is delicious... Worth a try.. Like La Hento

Wonderfully fresh and cheerful interaction with the guests. The train is a hit for all children, big and small. In the first telephone conversation, we were advised not to visit in fairness because they were unloaded in the kitchen due to the hotel's occupancy. That would have led to longer waiting times and wouldn't have been fun with children. Thank you for your honesty! It worked on the second attempt and as I said, it was very nice. Oh yes, the food was also top notch and absolutely ok in terms of price.

This hotel is really something special! We have rarely experienced such friendly and warm staff! At this point, special thanks again to Barbara, who looked after us so well on our first evening! Our room was modern and clean. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast also left nothing to be desired for us.

Great, modern rooms. Very suitable for short stays. The difference is made by the staff. Cordially. Genuinely interested in guests and attentive. It is a small hotel, which means that someone is not always available directly, a bit of patience and you will receive personal support. I was very pleased that this could also be observed in the treatment of other guests. If we are looking for an overnight stay in the region again, we would be happy to come by.

We were 4 adults and 4 children. Had to wait 2 hours for the food. At our insistence, we were paid for the coffees. Unfortunately not again!

Simple but very modern and pleasant atmosphere. Super friendly staff and sensational food - and where is the food delivered to your table by model train :)! You feel very comfortable here, from arrival to departure. Definitely a trip worth and highly recommended - we'll be happy to come back!

Unfortunately, the young woman wore the mask under her chin while preparing the pizza. She often touched her face and then went back to working on the pizza dough. Not possible at this time. The sausage salad we ordered was made up of small diced Wienerli (requested) and too many diced pickles. When we asked, there were no Servelat in the house. The soup we ordered also mistakenly contained Wienerli. It's a shame, the ambience is right, the service was nice - but - the points listed above don't work at all!!!!

Meine Frau und ich waren vom 8.8.-10.8.20 sowohl als Hotel- als auch Restaurantbesucher als Gast um unsere vierte Schwägalp-Säntis-Mesmer-Brülisau-Wanderung (8 Std.) zu geniessen.Das Haus wurde im Frühjahr 2020 wunderschön umgebaut; mehr als hervorragend gelungen: BRAVO!Nicht nur das: auch der neue Gastgeber, Herr Strässle, erfüllt mit seinem kompetenten und freundlichen Team "fast" jeden Wunsch.Da wir um bereits 05:30 das Haus verliessen, um bei Tagesanbruch die Wanderung beginnen zu können, wartete vor unserem Zimmer ein sehr reichhaltiges und leckeres Luchpaket.Wer eine gepflegte und moderne Unterkunft und feines und schön angerichtetes Essen schätzt, ist bei Herrn Strässle und Team bestens aufgehoben.

Very bad experience. They forgot about my food to start. Then served someone else with wrong food too. After that person returned the plate. They served me with fries with partially sauce form the other person plate. That during Corona time. Unacceptable. After asking for the reason. The waiter answer treat I may ask but will not get the answer. How rude!

Food was great and they don't just do pizza Staff are lovely too and the prices (considering this is Switzerland and the pound is very weak!!) were very reasonable. Gute Auswahl an Mittagsmenüs und Kindermenüs. Für die Kinder wird alles mit dem Zug (Modelleisenbahn, die rund ums Restaurant fährt) gebracht, was für ein Highlight für die Kinder.Die Bedienung war freundlich. Das Essen war ok. Für mein Geschmack ein Tick zu schwer (zuviel Fett & Salz).
