Hünegg Castle (Schloss Hünegg in German) is a castle located in Hilterfingen, on Lake Thun. The castle was built in 1861-1863 by the architect Pierre-Charles Dusillon for Baron Albert de Blumenthal. It is a notable example of the residential architecture of the 19th century aristocracy in Switzerland. Today, Hünegg Castle is a museum housing a collection of furniture, decorative art and historical objects dating from the 17th century to the 20th century. Visitors can tour the castle's restored rooms to explore the aristocratic life of the era and enjoy the beauty of the architecture and natural surroundings.

The museum is actually beautifully decorated and exciting, but also extremely dirty and musty. It needs to be cleaned urgently. The price is also too high for the offer, which is small.

For history lovers, this place may appeal to you. On the third floor, there are many good old things for sale, but the prices are expensive.

Its a good Castle. Médium. Not very old. With some interestings expositions. For me the principal bedroom was very big, well decorated and interesting.

Beautiful castle with original furnishings from around 1900. You almost feel like you are in the middle of the series “Downton Abbey”. The castle is located in a beautiful park with a great view of Lake Thun. There is a fun puzzle for children about Schlingel Castle. The current temporary exhibition about the “Erich Hess Ship Collection” is also worth seeing.

Lovely surrounding, good service, food and beer/wine. Not too expensive either!

The castle is at the edge of the lake, we arrived when the castle itself was closed but the surrounding garden is spectacular in its beauty. There is a nice living area with birds, rabbits, kangaroos and more. You can walk for free in the garden and the grove above it and hear the singing of the birds and the beauty of the landscape. The place is open to the public all day.

A fantastically beautiful castle with a beautiful castle park. The grounds around the castle were very well maintained and had lots of flowers. Unfortunately the castle was closed, which was a shame, but it was still definitely worth a visit and well worth seeing. Definitely a nice destination.

Very nicely furnished castle with a gastro exhibition on the 2nd floor. We were able to gain a lot of new insights into earlier times. History that you rarely see in a castle. Very friendly staff.

Beautiful castle. Not very big, but really great. The biggest surprise was that you were also allowed into the basement where the kitchen was. You can even easily understand where the servants lived and which stairwell was intended for them. Afterwards the castle was larger than expected. All I can say is a must for anyone who likes to see beautiful castles. Finally, a coffee in the castle garden is practically a must.

Fantastically beautiful fairytale castle, preserved as if it were in Sleeping Beauty's sleep. Even both of us had the feeling that the residents would come back soon. The welcome was very warm and informative. The park is a feast for the eyes where the soul can recharge its batteries The small Berghuesli offers a wonderful view of the lake and the mountains. We just didn't discover the animals and so we'll be back soon 🍀❤️🍀

It was a weekday and lunch time when we passed by. The park is very quiet, you can hear the birds chirping. Compare to other 19th Century Castle, this is quiet nice. 👍

An absolute must see!!! This castle is beautifully conserved... and so lovely to walk around in a time gone by! The tour is very interesting and the old shop on the top floor is full of stunning articles!

Spectacular castle built in the years (1861-1863) belonging to Baron Emil Otto Adolf Albert von Parpart, everything remained intact since 1900.

The castle has a quiet, large park and a Beautiful view of the Alps. We were able to spend a lovely afternoon there.

The castle itself was closed so we only got a chance to stroll on its park, which was really nice and quiet. There are many different paths that you can walk and you can get at the castle without doing any stairs (it's simply the longest way). You get to see some birds and even some kangaroos. There's also a playground for children on one side.

Quite enjoyable, the castle is decorated in period furniture and appears as if the owners will return at any time. The grounds are perfect for a picnic before visiting.

Very nice 19th century castle in a great condition with plenty of original furniture. One of the best household museums I've ever seen. Not too small, not too large either. Takes around 1-1.5 h to carefully see everything on the self-guides tour.

Cool place to hang out by the lake

This castle looks well and would be a solid item in anyone's collection of Castles. It is not really a castle by my standards though, since it has neither a moat, nor a defensive wall or other defensive construction. This castle is purely decorative and counts more as a villa or a mansion functionally (or a small palace, if you like). Yet it is undeniably beautiful and has a lot of character. I found it to be a nice spot to visit and spend 15-45 minutes walking around it.

Surprisingly very worth a visit. Place is so well kept and very home like. There is a nice park around the castle. Definitely a family destination

Unfortunately closed in the morning, but even the park with its century-old trees and flower beds is worth a visit.

A dream in Art Nouveau and historicism. You feel like you've been transported back in time - straight to the year 1900. As if time hadn't passed, the entire original interior is still there. The extensive tour is excellent and the small cafe makes the experience perfect. The property also has a large park. An absolute insider tip and absolutely top class, especially for Swiss standards!!

I was amazed by the castles. Time really stops in 1900... I recommand definitely to visit it to feel like in Downton Abbey ! ;)

Great castle with excellent guidance. Beautifully furnished with extreme attention to detail. If you get a guided tour with Toby Adam, the whole thing comes to life and you feel like you're in times gone by.

Breathtaking!!! This castle has been on our to-do list for a while. We finally managed to have it today in fantastic weather. The castle is incredibly beautiful and the original furnishings from around 1900 are simply fall in love with. This gives you a good insight into the time back then. The entire castle can be visited independently and freely for 10.- (which I think is very fair). I really can't begin to describe my excitement in suitable words! We'll definitely be back next year. Thank you very much for the opportunity to visit such a great castle!!!
